Today, I talk about boundaries and share more of my story.
During the events that ultimately led to this podcast (which I’ve talked about in previous episodes), I learned a lot about boundaries. Before that time, I didn’t really know what boundaries were. I was never taught about boundaries in any aspect of my life, and it wasn’t until I was in my 40s and experiencing one of the darkest places in my life that I learned about boundaries.

Do you ever find yourself more easily believing the bad things that have possibly been said about or told to you, rather than the good things that God's Word tells us? Sometimes, it's the bad stuff that's easier to believe.
In this episode, I share a little more about my story, in hopes of encouraging and inspiring you to believe the good things of who you are and who God created you to be!

In this first episode of Season 7, I begin to share why I'm really here. I get a personal, vulnerable, and definitely a bit uncomfortable with my topic.

Today, I’m jumping right into our topic and talking about stating our why. Think about why it is that we want to do whatever it is that we want to do. Our why is not our reason, and we need to understand that stating our why is important to help keep us motivated. It leads us to our specific goals. It’s what gets us there. It's what gets us up in the morning and what keeps us awake at night. It doesn’t lay the process of getting there out for us, but it actually helps us vision the end result in the here and now.

When we are contemplating something new, it is wise to find someone who is already doing it and ask them a lot of questions. Asking others who are already successful in doing what we want to do helps us gain knowledge. They can pass on wisdom and experiences that we may not have ever considered.

There are times when we need to relax, take a breath, and breathe, and the start of a homeschooling journey is definitely one of those times. One of the many things that I have learned during my time homeschooling is that staying calm usually helps in every situation. The more calm we approach our homeschooling journey, the easier, more enjoyable, and more rewarding it is going to be for everyone.

Today, I want to encourage you that you are enough. There's this idea going around that says that we are not enough, and I feel like I am here to tell you today that you are enough and that having self-worth is not wrong. In fact, it is how Jesus sees us.

Today, I pull pull an ever-relevant episode from the vault. In this episode, my former co-host and I talk about why school is not THAT important. The pressures for good grades and high end of year test scores contribute to rising depression, cutting, and suicide rates among middle and high schoolers. This could be related to the feeling of not measuring up among peers or the pressures that parents, teachers, and professors put on their students. What matters is recognizing these stressors in your child’s life and helping them navigate through them or not allowing them in your child’s life at all. Your relationship with your child is more important than school or any test scores, and we share why we believe that.

In today's episode, I talk about a time when God asked me to do something really hard, and I rebelled. In the end, I ended up submitting to His will, even though it wasn't easy. Today, I am grateful for that hard journey, and I want to encourage you to go where He's asking you to go.

I can’t believe it, but this is officially Season 5 of the podcast! I know a few of you have been listening since the beginning, and I’d like to say a great big THANK YOU for the continued support and encouragement.
Lately, I've noticed a huge spike of downloads, and that’s been really super exciting! Thank you all so much for joining me in this journey.
In my last episode, I made a reference to how I have been taking time to reflect and consider how I want to move forward with this podcast. There are things about doing this podcast that I love, and things that I really don’t love. Join me as I unpack this on this episode, and then tell me what you think I should do.

I am hearing that for Thanksgiving, there are some places that aren’t allowing people to gather in groups of more than 10 people. Is this in your area, or do you have a similar but different mandate that your authorities are trying to implement? If so, what, and how do you feel about it? Are you planning on following it, or are you gonna ignore it and do what you want to anyway?
How does your Thanksgiving celebration today look different than your celebration as a kid?
I read a recent article from Mike Rowe called It’s Enough to Make a Grown Man Weep and chat about holiday depression.

The Edge of Everywhen is a fictional book by Author, Allison Mackey, that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is written for upper elementary/middle school ages; however, I found that I couldn't put the book down, and I am...well, let's just say that you should never ask a lady her age.
I first interviewed Allison Mackey back in episode #30, How to Pursue Your Writing Passions. In that previous episode, we talked about how she became a writer and why. Also during that interview, she was in the process of writing The Edge of Everywhen and had actually just presented her book to her publisher that very morning.
My favorite quote from that episode was, "We don't seek perfection in order to obtain the Father's blessing. We seek perfection because we already have the Father's blessing."
During our current chat and also in her book, Allison refers to quite-a-few other books that are great reads for everyone. Here are just a few of the books she referred to that can help you start your very own amazing journey of fictional reading this summer.
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
The Giver
Narnia
Old Possum's Books of Practical Cats
Great Expectations
Oliver Twist
You can find and follow Allison on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram @author_asmackey, and on the web at asmackey.com.

While quarantined during the Coronavirus shutdown, Shelley also found herself in a similar situation as us and a lot of other people. She too has had to sit back and watch all of her work disappear. Due to this, I wanted to invite her on to have a chat and get her perspective on how she is handling being shut in and unable to get out, make money, and hang out with her friends and family.
So, as everyone should know by now, this video is part of a series released in order to get perspective on how others out there are handling being quarantined during Coronavirus / COVID-19. I am asking the same questions to all of my guests in all of the videos in this series so that we can see how others are doing. My hope is that my guest can say something that you can identify with that will help you feel better about the situation you may be experiencing as well.
Even though we may feel like it sometimes, we are not alone, and I hope that you are able to identify with Shelley and our conversation can help you.
We first had a conversation with Shelley back in episode #29, where she shared her passion for Ireland. In this episode, Shelley mentions her love for Valor Coffee House in Alpharetta, GA.

This quarantined conversation with Rayson took place on May 5th, 2020, at the height of the world-wide Coronavirus Pandemic. Rayson is the host of the Raygacy Show, where he is a motivational and inspirational speaker, where he has had the privilege of interviewing top entrepreneurs such as Gary Vaynerchuk and Grant Cardone. He is also a nurse at the Institute of Mental Health in Singapore.
I invited Rayson on today because I wanted to get his personal experience with being quarantined from Singapore with the current COVID-19 / Coronavirus crisis. There, they are also experiencing shutdowns and stay-at-home orders; however, they call it the “Circuit Breaker.” Rayson shares a little bit of how the Circuit Breaker got its name.
I first interviewed Rayson about 2 years ago in episode #59, and at that time, he had about 1000 followers on Instagram, and now, just 2 years later, he has over 10,000 followers! He was kind to give us a quick rundown of how he has been able to grow his brand so quickly.
Rayson tells us about the 5-Points to Hand Hygiene, which are, “Wash your hands…”
before touching a patient, before clean/aseptic procedures, after body fluid exposure/risk, after touching a patient, and. after touching patient surroundings.Rayson ends with encouraging everyone to take this time, while quarantined, to reconsider what it is that you want your life to be and go for it. You only have one life to live. No one can live your life for you, and there is only one you. It’s up to you to build the life that you want. He encourages us to come out stronger and let yourself be known to the world.

Rayson mentions the book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, which is a book about the laws of attraction, positivity, mindfulness, etc…, and you can watch Rayson’s interview with Bob Doyle here.

Erica Greene is juggling her experience with being a new mom while being quarantined from COVID-19. She shares how not being able to depend on others to step in and help her has been really tough.
Erica's husband is a pharmacist, and his work demands have been drastically increased, making her time at home even more difficult. Both with taking care of her 9-month-old son and not being able to have grown-up conversations on a regular basis has been the toughest part of this for her.
During this conversation, you can watch Erica as she is even juggling taking care of her son, who has also just learned how to crawl making him more mobile, and video-calling with me at the same time.
Erica says that she misses her friends the most, and she misses the pressures of obligations the least.
