Cal & Liam are once again back with another season three Justice League Unlimited review, this week tackling the Flash-centered episode "Flash and Substance." The hosts talk a bit about the 85th Anniversary of the Flash character in 2025, how this episode acts as a love letter to the Scarlet Speedster and his DCAU persona, why this episode has a meta commentary on gritty and light-hearted superhero stories and a ton of fun Flash lore and DCAU easter eggs. Plus a discussion on the all-star voice cast featuring several DCAU voice acting legends, music that perfectly accentuates the wackiness of the plot and why Batman understands brand recognition being important. All of this a uncharacteristic disagreement on one of the category scores, and a preview of next week's Bonus Episode coverage on this week's all new DCAU Review!

Liam and Cal are back at it again with their first review of 2025 and a return to Justice League Unlimited for the month of January. This week they continue on in Season Three of JLU with the episode "To Another Shore." On this episode, the hosts discuss the unique "embargo" that helped shape this episode into one that would alter the course of the remainder of the series, why character embargos are so confusing and what influenced the various limitations on JLU over the three seasons. The hosts also discuss an episode with a plot right out of Super Friends, the unique illustrations and whose art directly influenced the work by Bruce Timm, a meta musical moment for the first time in the DCAU and a rather distracting casting choice for one of the episode's minor characters. All of this and the usual fun, plus a look at next week's episode all await you on this week's edition of the DCAU Review!

Depending on your current location the weather outside may or may not be frightful, but a new episode of the DCAU Review is always delightful. This week the Good Brothers are discussing the second full-length feature film of the original Batman: The Animated Series run with the chilling title "Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero." The hosts discuss a bit of the history of the movie, how its' predecessor Mask of the Phantasm cast a large shadow, where the main crew had moved on and how the movie came about based on some attempted corporate synergy. The hosts discuss how the plot attempted to focus on Robin and Batgirl with mixed results, the use of the most state-of-the-art CGI animation that 1997 had to offer and why the movie's delay caused some confusion on whether the movie was canon to BTAS at all to a young Cal and Liam. The hosts also discuss the decision to start from scratch with the soundtrack vs. sticking with the established themes, another new voice actress for Batgirl and the ultimate legacy of this film in the DCAU zeitgeist.
