  • Acid House NFTs | Genesis’88 NFTs | NFTs Future

Wayne Anthony discusses the option of digitally archiving EDM history including The Second Summer of Love in 1988. Wayne is internationally recognised for staging some of the biggest illegal Acid House (Rave) parties in history. It was the effort of his organisation Genesis’88 and a handful of other large scale party promoters that pioneered a series of events never experienced in the UK. Genesis’88 flyers are highly sought and sell for hundreds of pounds.

Wayne shares some thoughts and opinions on how promoters, artists and musicians can reclaim ownership over their creative output. Wayne was the first person to mint an Acid House NFT in the form of a Genesis’88 Chapter 1 flyer. A fitting beginning for archiving a generational shift unlike any other in history. Wayne has already created limited edition Acid House artwork for minting into NFT and will continue to explore this area.

  • Behind the Scenes with Genesis’88 | Acid House 1989

Genesis’88 staged three illegal parties in Ferry Lane, North London. The first epic party was on the 11th February 1989 and the last a few weeks later. Numerous waypoints worthy of note have been documented including fronting two police captains, standing up against two police riot squads, and staring down the barrel of a robbers gun. This is also the night their full security team demanded a cut of profits from then onwards otherwise they’d take the nights takings and leave. Thousands of people attended the events, many later commented on how their lives are transformed by Genesis’88 events.

  • Hm Government vs Acid House 1988 - 1990

The third in a series of podcasts deep diving the printed media’s reporting on Acid House and the people attending events. The sensationalised headlines were mostly written by anonymous journalists, although the named journo’s were just as ferocious. The style of reporting we’ve since witnessed when the state moves to shutdown a national threat. Hundreds of articles were constructed to misinform the general public so laws and governmental powers to curb the assembly of people could be fast-tracked into play.

  • Government Confidential Files Released Nearly Thirty Years After Acid House

Wayne Anthony deep dives the declassified Acid House files released by the National Archives in 2016. Contrary to popular belief the Tory government headed by Margaret Thatcher appear more concerned with noise pollution than health and safety. Confidential memos even state that ‘drugs are not the main issue’ MP Carolyn Sinclair. This may come as a surprise to most considering all the bad press until this point. The government were also considering making ‘noise’ a criminal offence with heavy penalties for the prosecuted. The declassified files outline various methods of dealing with Acid House ‘organisers’, venue owners and anyone remotely connected to Acid House parties.

In the second part of Wayne Anthony’s analysis of news stories published by media outlets between 1989 and 1990. Hundreds of news articles are printed during this period. The sensationalised headlines were targeting parents and voters. The aim is to change the law, further restricting the movement of people. The news stories were instrumental in engineering fear among parents. The articles highlighted key areas they wanted to change but needed the full backing of the general public to make it happen. • Acid House Trashed by All News Outlets 1988 - 1990

In this podcast Wayne Anthony deep dives some newspaper articles of 1988, highlighting the propaganda surrounding Acid House. Sensationalised media stories produced hundreds of Acid House headlines over a period of two years. Clickbait wasn’t a term back then but newspapers and TV programs were manufacturing clickbait at an alarming rate. Fake news stories were firing up Middle Englanders against youth culture. They were instrumental in bringing the culture into every household in the country. Saatchi & Saatchi couldn’t have designed a better marketing campaign. News reports were mostly negative and pushed certain themes. The end game is changing the law to restrict the movement of people and make ‘noise’ an actual crime with penalties enforced by law.

  • The British Keyboard Wizard of Acid House | Adamski

Adam was destined for a life in the arts. Influenced by the likes of Malcolm Maclaren and the DIY culture of punk. Adam was making music with his brother on cheap recorders, when others were out playing cowboys and Indians. A firm favourite of John Peel, Adam set his sights on a career in the music industry. Influenced by Acid House, Adamski was born in 1989. Everyone booked him to play at their events, the journey took him around the country. The album Live and Direct featured a series of instrumentals produced at home in his bedsit. Singles such as NRG charted and Adamski appeared on Top of the Pops. This wouldn’t be his last appearance on Britain’s top music show. Adamski teamed up with Seal for the Number One track Killer. Adamski was the British poster-boy of Acid House who continues to produce music to this very day. Recently recorded with Boy George, Adrian Sherwood and a host of talented recording artistes.

  • Staging Parties 1989 | Crashing Warehouses | Beyond Covid

The term legal has many definitions but history denotes Raindance as the first British dance party promoters granted an all night music and dance licence in 1990. Richard started with Acid House but today stages multi-arena events playing Hardcore, Jungle, Drum n Bass and Garage music. Pez was throwing up graffiti when Acid House arrived in the UK. He partied hard at all the big named clubs and events. Spotting an opportunity he seized on the idea of designing flyers for party promoters. Raindance became his number one client, designing countless flyers and visuals for their events.

  • Acid House 1988 | Police Raids | The Dungeons

Early Acid House initiates may remember the Rave at the Cave. A mechanics railway archway in Elephant Castle, South London. A venue which hosted a series of iconic events at the height of the Second Summer of Love 1988. Attracting up-for-it party enthusiasts from all corners of the city.

Two of the original promoters DJ EllisDee & Steve Whyte (DJ Chalk E White) share their untold stories. This small underground venue is widely ignored by history. Podcast host Wayne Anthony attended most of the events staged there. Rave at the Cave was brought to dramatic closure when raided by a police squad that rolled up on a train. Accompanying the raiding party was investigative TV news program World in Action. On that very night across London in Aldgate East, Wayne Anthony and partner Andrew were holding their first Genesis’88 event.
