On todayâs episode, Coach Janae and I want to talk about something incredibly important â our health and well-being.
As we age, our bodies go through some changes, and it becomes even more crucial to prioritize our nutrition and supplementation.
That's where these four superstars come into play: multi-vitamins, magnesium, GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), and fish oils. Let's break down why they're absolute game-changers for you.
Multi-Vitamins: Think of a multi-vitamin as your daily insurance policy. Even if you're eating a balanced diet, it can be challenging to get all the essential nutrients your body needs. Multi-vitamins fill those nutritional gaps, providing you with a wide range of vitamins and minerals. For women in their 40s, they can be particularly beneficial for supporting bone health, heart health, and boosting your immune system.
Magnesium: Magnesium is a true multitasker. It plays a role in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body! But why is it especially important as we age? Well, magnesium helps with muscle function, and as we get older, maintaining muscle mass becomes crucial for overall health. It also supports bone health, regulates blood sugar levels, and can help with sleep, something we often struggle with in our 40s.
GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid): GABA is a neurotransmitter that acts as your body's natural calming agent. It's like a soothing balm for your nervous system. As we age, stress and anxiety can become more prevalent, affecting our sleep and overall well-being. GABA can help calm those racing thoughts, promote relaxation, and improve sleep quality. It's like a mental spa day!
Fish Oils: Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oils, particularly EPA and DHA, are incredibly beneficial for women in their 40s. They support heart health by reducing triglyceride levels, lowering blood pressure, and reducing inflammation. Plus, they're fantastic for brain health, potentially helping with memory and cognitive function as we age. And if you're concerned about joint health, fish oils can help there too.
But remember, ladies, while supplements can be powerful allies in your health journey, they're not a replacement for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. So, continue to eat those colorful fruits and veggies, stay active, and get plenty of rest.

First off, diets tend to make us feel deprived. When we're told we can't have something, it's like a challenge to our willpower, right?

Willpower is like a finite resource, and when it's constantly tested, it can wear thin.
Secondly, diets often focus on short-term fixes, promising quick results. But life, especially for us fabulous women in our 40s, is about the long game. We need sustainable, lifelong changes that make us feel amazing every day, not just for a few weeks.
And oh, the guilt that comes with breaking diet rules! It's like a never-ending cycle of feeling bad about enjoying food. We should be savoring the good stuff without all that shame.
So, instead of diets, let's shift our mindset. It's about nourishing our bodies with healthy, delicious alternatives that make us feel fantastic from the inside out.
It's about balance, not deprivation. It's about embracing the journey to a healthier you, not rushing to a finish line.
