A surprise upload... a returning familiar voice... "New Beginnings"
What could THMP be cooking after being gone for so long...? Well stop reading and start listening to find out! -
Shocker!! The Hood Morning Pod suddenly shows signs of life. Is a brand new season on the way perhaps...?
It's been a few months since the finale of season 4 and we decided to tap in for a bit and discuss the latest right in time for Ramadan. Hopefully this is a better alternative to other stuff you may be listening to! In the third ever bonus episode (first in two years!), Awale and Stretch discuss Drew Walls, the Omay Lay incident, and the gambling pandemic to name a few.
As always thanks for tuning in and we hope to see you all in season 5. Make sure to keep up with our socials for the announcement (honestly don't know when). -
Episodes manquant?

This week on The Hood Morning Pod, Awale and Stretch wrap up the 4th season of THMP with a rather laid back episode. Apologies for not going out with a bang. We wanted to take things easy especially after the roller coaster of a Hood Night episode we had lol. As per usual we talk about a variety of things including, but not limited to, how friends may or may not limit one's growth, the fall gaming season, and our most used emojis!
Thank you to all of you for sticking with us for another season and a big thank you to those who listened from episode 1. We will be back, if God wills, with a Season 5 soon. No exact date for that yet but make sure to stay tuned to our socials so you don't miss the announcement! -
In the second part of The Hood Night Pod Episode 4, Anas shares his experiences as a comedian. We got most of the BS out of our system in part 1 at this point. He shares how he creates jokes, deals with different audiences, insight on the life of a comedian, and more. This is a Hood Night episode of course so don't expect TOO much productivity.
-
After taking yet another week off, we return with "The Hood Night Pod". A series where we get a little spicy, because who doesn't like some kick to their food right? And oh boy does this episode have a kick.
In this installment into the Hood Night series, Stretch brings long time friend Anas. Anas is an up and coming comedian looking to find his break into the comedy scene. In this first part of episode 4, Stretch and Anas present their case to the audience (the listeners and Awale) to prove who is really the worse person between them. They both think the other is an absolute failure of a human being.
This is where you all come in. Let us know what you think. Not about the episode, about THEM. -
One the second last episode of The Hood Morning Pod Season 4 *GASP* The season is wrapping up already??? Yes, unfortunately. The Summer has come and is now sadly wrapping up quickly. This week we try to go over the creativity of hood niggas. We talk about hood niggas and their deep bag of words and codes, how they think, and even spit game.Honestly, this episode did not do it justice so don't be surprised if we have another similar episode.
-
In Episode 39 of The Hood Morning Pod, Awale and Stretch tried to praise and criticize each other's strengths and weaknesses while also highlighting shared traits. This week however, upon a Curious Cat suggestion, the THMP duo take the Myers & Briggs' 16 Personalities Test with returning guest Faris. To newer listeners, Faris featured on the 9th episode of The Hood Morning Pod.
We briefly go through the test's questions on air and then take a deep dive into our results. What strengths and weaknesses does the test think we have? What type of friends or lovers are we? This is a much longer episode than usual so kick back, relax, and enjoy the show. -
We took another week off! What's going on?? We went to Quebec that's what! This week on The Hood Morning Pod, Awale and Stretch return to their regular duet and share stories from their recent trip. Coincidentally, both happened to go on the same trip at the same time with different groups. From speeding tickets to racist encounters, the entire episode is literally story after story. Hopefully it makes up for our sudden week off (and late upload lol).

A THURSDAY upload! Who would've thought?! According to our Instagram poll a few weeks ago, yall didn't appreciate us uploading on Fridays again. How about now??
This week on The Hood Morning Pod, we continue last week's discussion with AsSomaali. We completely dive into relationship problems people posted online giving our opinions/ solutions under the watchful eye of our married guest. There were a couple agreements and a number of interesting disagreements. Listen in and let us know what you would do! -
Upon great demand, this week on The Hood Morning Pod we brought back arguably one of our best guests ever: The AsSomaali AKA Zbo AKA Abdulqadir! Given that we are on a downward spiral, we've made the executive decision to squeeze some content out of the former Fully Living Pod member. As mentioned by our special helpers, this discussion lasted 2 hours and we've thus decided to divide the episode.
In this opening part we mainly discuss our experiences with language. What hurdles, obstacles, or simple differences separate us from our brethren who speak the Native language fluently? We delve into how we generate and navigate our thoughts. Apparently some people have an internal monologue that narrates their thoughts while others... just think! We tap into the idea of linguistic relativity, "a principle suggesting that the structure of a language influences its speakers' worldview or cognition, and thus individuals' languages determine or shape their perceptions of the world". And then FINALLY, we get to the actual purpose of the episode! I feel like I wrote too much so Imma let yall figure that out for yourselves.
Part 2 next week!! -
Well hello there. Miss us by any chance? Our week break is over and we are officially back better than ever (absolutely nothing changed) to make the final push for the second half of the 4th Season!
This week on The Hood Morning Pod, Stretch shares a story of how HE was pranked! So crazy right? Stretch was surprisingly bested at his own game. We also discuss the "dayooth" word being thrown away lately, Stretch's recent addition to Awale's gaming group chat, and more.
What does it mean to be a "dayooth"? Have you ever asked to be in someone's private story or left one? Do you gate keep your group chats? Find out what we think and as always let us know your thoughts!
P.S. Awale’s dumbass kept saying “carnal sin” instead of “cardinal sin” -
Hoooooood Morning friends. It is Sunday. Again. Lol. We really haven't been on top of things this season. Sorry :\
This week on The Hood Morning Pod, Awale and Stretch go back to their regular duet performance. We talk about our experiences with Eid, why people say Eid "fell off", vomit (we talked a lot about yacking lool), and more. While this isn't an "Ask THMP" episode, our discussion topics were heavily influenced by you, the listeners! As always, feel free to message us topics or things you'd like to hear. It doesn't always have to be a question! -
It is currently 5:20 AM as I type this. I've been awake since 7 AM yesterday. I am fatigued beyond comprehension as I muster the ability to write a compelling and interesting description.
Hood Morning folks! It is Sunday. I think this is the second time we've uploaded this late into the weekend lol. This week on The Hood Morning Pod we bring on Ahmed & Pluto. These two gentlemen are never before seen (or heard) guests in the ever growing THMP universe. With Ahmed & Pluto, Awale kicks the episode off as a mediator trying to get Stretch and the guests to make amends. We then discuss a number of topics including Stretch’s experience with body shaming, the tragic submarine story that's been trending, the passport bro movement, and more.
Sincere apologies for the delay with this episode. A number of things got in our way and we really tried to deliver you all a Hood Morning Friday!! -
40 episodes. Pretty insane tbh. Almost 2 years in you'd expect us to have done at least 100 episodes but hey we still uploading am I right? For the 40th installment in The Hood Morning universe we bring back Stretch's twin brothers (his brother's who happen to be twins), Muse & Muk. Gobsmacking stuff, yep. We don't bring people back once they feature on the podcast. Are we not only running out of content, but also guests?? (We actually have a good reason).
This week we discuss a variety of things as per usual. We jump from random thought to random thought whether we have any knowledge on it or not. (You'll understand after listening). But we eventually land in the "What if?" region of conversations where we ask each other: What if you find out, upon attempting to conceive a child, that your significant other is infertile? What if you learn that your significant other is on Reddit anonymously complaining about you and the relationship?
What would YOU do? Let us know! -
This week on The Hood Morning Pod we are 1 day late. Look at us uploading on a Saturday smh. (We feel no ways cuz yall still gon listen). On the 39th tape in the THMP catalogue, for the better or worse, Awale and Stretch attempt to praise and criticize each other's strengths and weaknesses while also highlighting shared traits. What do YOU think? Are we capping or on the nose for the most part???
-
On the second week of The Hood Morning Pod's triumphant return, Awale and Stretch discuss the sibling dynamic, how we present ourselves to different people, Awale's brand new Linkedin obsession, the Somali - South Asian social media war, and much more. Last week's episode was a tad bit too serious and productive for our liking. Our comeback episode didn't have enough nonesense. With this episode, we really wanted to go back to our chaotic roots haha.

*SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC*
After THREE undoubtedly spectacular podcasting seasons, the members of The Hood Morning Pod figured they'd transfer their unquestionable genius into their individual lives. (Believe it or not, we are actual real people with worries, hopes, and dreams. Shocking, I know). This "difficult" decision resulted in the longest hiatus in THMP's short but incredibly storied history...
Nonetheless, similar to how mankind always anticipates the rising of the sun every morning, THMP has been renewed for a fourth season to brighten your Friday mornings once again.
*MUSIC ENDS*
On the return of THMP we discuss MuzMatch's court case and how people actually use the platform, some political nonesense, can someone turn a "bad" person into a "good" person, and what we've been up to these past 5 months. How do these topics correlate? Click play to find out!!
PSA: Roy will officially be working behind the scenes moving forward, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of a surprise appearance! -
Welcome to the final episode of The Hood Morning Pod!!!....... Season 3 that is haha. Did I make your heart skip a beat? Be honest.
This week on The Hood Morning Pod we bring on Afkea to reveal the final results of the first annual "Beating the Cancel" Awards. After revealing the winners of each category we go on an absolute storytelling spree sharing some insane middle/ elementary school stories. We also reveal a brand new host to replace the ever elusive Roy.... Let us know what you think of their performance! -
Introducing the very first Beating the Cancel Awards where we highlight the best and worst moments in THMP history! Instead of us blabbering in your ears for an hour straight (nothing wrong with that at all btw), we've decided to make a more interactive/engaging episode. In this episode, we'll go through the categories and announce the nominees along with our personal votes. You guys (the listeners) will vote on Tuesday November 29 on the @TheHoodMorningPod Instagram! The results of your votes will be shared next week. Be there or forever hold your peace!!

Over the past few days and weeks, the internet and perhaps society as a whole has been discussing and debating about a number of controversial happenings within the general Black or African American community. This week on The Hood Morning Pod, Awale and Stretch share what they’ve learned and their thoughts on these trending topics. We mainly ask: Why is it increasingly common for the innocent to pay the price of the guilty?
Feel free to let us know what you think! - Montre plus
