Cable television is a system of delivering television programming to viewers via radio frequency signals transmitted through electrical cables; in more recent systems, light pulses through fibre-optic cables.
You might be wondering why I am opening up with this information about cable TV on the JSE's podcast. I have a good cause. The JSE's mission is to contribute to the growth and development of the territories where they conduct business, by facilitating the mobilization, exchange, and expansion of capital while providing a return on equity acceptable to their shareholders.
I know first-hand that the organization does nothing that is out of alignment with its vision and mission. Today, we will examine how the JSE's latest venture, the Caribbean Business Exchange, aligns with its mission and vision.
To tell us all about that is Andre Gooden, Business Development Manager at the JSE.
Some of what we looked at were:

Deciding to secure your financial well-being is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. You don’t have to be a financial expert to do it. You need to know a few basics, form a plan, and be ready to stick to it.
While there is no guarantee that you’ll make money from your investments, if you get the facts about saving and investing and follow through with an intelligent plan, you should be able to gain financial security over the years and enjoy the benefits of managing your money.
One critical part of the investment puzzle is an understanding of earnings season. We've invited Jamelia Jalaalwalikraam, Research Manager, NCB Capital Markets, to provide insight into what exactly is earnings season and why investors should care.

Regardless of where you are in your life and business, at some point, you will need to raise capital. In the past, your go-to options perhaps were getting a bank loan or speaking to your rich great, great uncle or grandfather. In today’s era, compared with say 10 years ago, with many ways to raise capital, your options are limitless. With this ease of access comes the need for more intentionality with how to use this capital that you have raised. Capital deployment decisions rank high on the list of outcomes that boards and managements must oversee. Making this choice is never easy. What are some of the key principles to be considered for effective capital deployment? Well, to give us the answers we are looking for, Dr William Lawrence, a strategy consultant, Board Chairman of Jamaica Business Development Corporation and Chairman of the JSE e-Campus Academic Review Committee joins us to talk about factors owners and leadership teams need to remember when considering deploying capital for their organizations.

The West has tried to alter our psyche, to make us believe that Africa is uncivilized and should not be desired. The truth has been discovered. For some of us, we have long known that this was far from being a fact. While for others still, the time has come for us to reclaim what has been robbed from us, that is our longing for identity and a sense of connection to the Motherland. What better way to establish such a connection than through wealth building. Let's contemplate how the capital markets in the Caribbean and the continent of Africa might work together to create wealth for its people. We've invited Ekow Alfedzie, Managing Director, Ghana Stock Exchange, to engage us about what is happening in the Ghanian Market and how we might work together to achieve even greater success.
