4-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Michael League is the founder of Snarky Puppy and musical director for David Crosby and has just released his debut solo album So Many Me via GroundUP Music. Quarantine found League in a tiny apartment in Cadiz, Spain with no Snarky Puppy projects or major production gigs on the horizon. He found himself with the time to compile the footnotes, drafts and melodies heād collected over the years with the intent of pulling together a solo record. Michael had the idea of creating a textural landscape with thick vocal harmonies; a mix of Turkish, Moroccan and Kurdish percussion and synthesizers. Throughout the album, League rediscovers the music of his own past, exploring 1980ās soundscapes and drops in references spanning from Tears for Fears to Talking Heads. For much of a year, Sebastian Junger and 3 friends walked the railroad lines of the East Coast as an experiment in personal autonomy, but also in interdependence. Dodging railroad cops, sleeping under bridges, cooking over fires, and drinking from creeks and rivers, the four men forged a unique reliance on each another. Sebastian's latest book 'Freedom' weaves his account of this journey together with primatology and boxing strategy, the history of labor strikes and Apache raiders, the role of women in resistance movements, and the brutal reality of life on the Pennsylvania frontier.
