A favorite TPC Episode of season two was the âCharacters of the Chroniclesâ interview with Bob Basler, author of the online literary work, 5 AM Stories.
He was one of The Chronicles creator& hostâs closest childhood buddies from the Olâ Neighborhood & is now a good friend after reconnecting over the last several years.
When he first joined the TPC mike back in May of 2023, his entertaining weekly post had just launched to a small but appreciative readership and our back & forth was memorable and great fun.
TPC Episode 303 catches up with Bob after 70+ posts with over 60,000 downloads, easily found by googling â5am Storiesâ or going straight to the website , robertbasler.substack.com
But with this TPC Show youâll hear from Bob off the cuff, guided, often unsuccessfully by the host.
Again the conversation is lively & at times a bit off center, reflected by the variety & scope of topics that arise and the subsequent observations voiced.
Itâs a most enjoyable & entertaining listen.#indynostalgia, #60snostalgia, #50snostalgia, #schoolnostalgia,

If you ask people who grew up in the 1950âs, 60âs about some their most vivid and treasured memories as children, the Saturday afternoon Kiddie Matinee at the has to rank high.
In Episode 302 in the TPC project , host & narrator, Marty Young, offers the details and atmosphere of that weekly event as experienced in two Northside Indianapolis movie theaters, the Uptown and the Vogue.
The smell of the popcorn, the stickiness of the floors, the noise of the rowdy young patrons &, of course, the stars of the big screen are universal are shared in this installment familiar to many.

Itâs been 5 months since the host & narrator of The Primrose Chronicles brought the curtain down on Season Two.
Questions surrounding the launch ofSeason 3 became multiple as new episodes were delayed & faithful listeners began to wonder if a return of the tales, yarns, stories & interviews might ever re-appear.
This is that long-awaited or, at least, slightly wondered about first installment answering questions regarding Martyâs break from broadcasting.
It is unlike any other chapter of the TPC project to date, so take a listen, & share your feedback.
The hope is youâll enjoy it.

Itâs another Character of the Chronicles conversation. This time We hear from a someone who knew one of Rock & Roll Radio Royalty in Indianapolis â the eldest son of WIBCâs Bouncinâ Bill Baker, Art Baker.
Art shares stories & reflections of his father, not just the zany personality of his morning show, but also the hard work & long hours devoted, The result, I think, provides a rich opportunity to appreciate what Bill Baker meant to so many whether on the air, at the sock hops or battles of the bands.
An important announcement about The Primrose Chroniclesâ future comes at this episodeâs conclusion.

In response to inquiries by faithful fans, Episode 226steps away from tales and talks about the Old Neighborhood & takes a deep dive into the numbers that comprise the TPC fan base, & the possible places & personalities behind them.
Itâs a light-hearted, tongue-in-check consideration of what kind of folks might listen in week to week.
Some might even be surprised by the breadth of this little effortâs appeal.
Itâs a little shorter offering, so no excuses.

Episode 225 of The Primrose Chronicles takes the listener on a different kind of jaunt back to what some call âthe Good Olâ Daysâ.
Three ladies, life long friends, who gather together, around a figurative âkitchen tableâ to talk about those days and in the process reflect on what has kept them close over the years.
On the surface itâs girl talk, go a little deeper and you catch the principles of Friendship that are hard to describe, harder to replicate.
Listen in on this wide reaching look back. There will be smiles, and knowing nods and probably even a chuckle or two as you listen.
So please do!

Everyone these days from Coast to Coast has a thought about the oppressive heat so many have been experiencing, but doesnât that just come with the summer months?
TPC episode 222, âHOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?â Considers that thought, by recalling what those Dog dates were like watt back when, in times when A/C & Refrigeration units were the exception rather than the rule, and greater creativity was necessary to escape the torrid temps.
Listen in as a few attempts at âstaying coolâ are shared and see if you didnât try similar in your own desperate attempts âbeat the heatâ âback in the dayâ.

Fun & activities for Boomer kids were almost from sunrise to sunset and after.
Episode 223 takes focus on the games played after supper & in the front yards that entertained the many with their competition & strategy.
See if you donât remember them by name and description, as well as your own participation in them.
Especially be quick about declaring, âNOT IT!
But however it goes. ENJOY#indynostalgia, #60snostalgia, #50snostalgia, #schoolnostalgia,

If music of the 50âs, 60âs & 70âs was & is for Boomers the soundtrack of our lives, then games were our playground.

Many Teens living through the 1960âs were richly benefitted by those adults who gave of their time, talent and even some of their treasure, investing in programs & activities that could provide hope, offer purpose and create a vision for the future of youth in their charge.
In addition to, of course, parents, themselves examples of The Greatest Generation, Baby Boomers had coaches, scout leaders, teachers and patient part-time employers.
But for many adult Boomers looking back, it was a Youth Worker who took his or her teen groups out of the church basement & the Sunday 9am hour and into weeknight homes, sports courts and mountain lodges. And while the message didnât change, their methods took Bible stories off of flannel graphs & out of terry cloth bath robes skits, to circles around campfires, living rooms and soda shops.
In the process, faith became real and hope became possible.
In Episode 219 TPC interviews a veritable veteran of youth work in the 60âs, the Mad Scot, Derek Wallace.
Over the years he impacted hundreds of kids in his role as Youth Minister at E 49th St Christian Church, (later E 91st St) & Urban Director of Indianapolis Young Life.
He shares about both and why he served in each, and if if you donât know Derek, maybe youâll understand thAT special influencer in YOUR life, just a little better if you had one. Maybe, just maybe, it might prompt you to pass it on.

Do you remember the critters you took as pets growing up?
Do you even recall their names & even their untimely demises?
If so, Episode 218 of TPC may strike several familiar chords.
If youâre a little fuzzy on those in your care, perhaps the short vignettes that make up this Season 2 audio installment will stir some fresh remembrances.
Or maybe not & if thatâs the case, take a listen & smile just a little at the misfortunes of one well meaning junior caretaker and the unfortunate members of the animal kingdom in his charge.
Then respond with what you think, either as a comment in The Primrose Chronicles FB page or email the host at [email protected].

At the beginning of a 4-day weekend celebrating the birthday of the US of A, The Chronicles offers a revival of a 1st season recounting this national holiday with an episode, âA FOURTH OF JULY REDUXâ.
New intro, new closing, original material delivered through a new microphone & mixed by new software brings this narrative a fresh sound, though the same old racanteur.
Give it a listen & offer feedback as to content, presentation & performance quality OR just sit back & enjoy a simpler time of patriotic expression.

Episode 216 of the Chronicles assumes the same role as the earlier TPC audio installment, 211.
That story, âMabel, Mabel⊠â, gave the projectâs host an opportunity to honor HIS Mother and by extension, Momâs everywhere,
All that because Motherâs Day was right around the corner.
This Sunday is the masculine expression of a similar day, Fatherâs Day so this is a similar yarn.
To set it up in this description would take as long as the installment itself, just go for it.
Just take a listen& see if you donât smile & even chuckle before becoming warmed by the outcome.
Hope it leads you to your own memories of your Pop.

A Fort-five minute episode was not enough to include all the stories, anecdotes & observations Dick Summer shared about his days in the Indianapolis Radio scene during the late 50âs & early 60âs.
He had a lot to share about East Coast radio & how radio changed since those early days.
So much you missed if you only listened to Episode 213, The Voice From the Glass Booth on Hi.

In an era known for its Rock & Roll music and performers, many Boomer teens were even more connected to the on air radio personalities who spun the platters on the top radio stations across the nation.
These âdisc jockeysâ had their faithful followings who listened as much for their comments as the records they played.
Every decent-sized town had them, but for a few years in the late 50âs/early 60âs Indianapolis had Dick Summer, broadcasting live weeknights from Merrillâs Hi-Decker Drive In on WIBC, 1070 AM
Dick went on to major markets in Boston & NYC, earning him R&R Hall of Fame On Air Personality notoriety.
Episode 213 of TPC is an interview w/ the guy with the velvet voice, Dick Summer, about those years in Indy. Itâs filled w/ anecdotes & stories of his Hoosier years behind the microphone and much more.
Itâs a special installment

With Memorial Day upon us, we turn the only way appropriate for a Hoosier storyteller- toward the Indy 500 & memories therein.
The discoveries of an 11year old as he takes in his first Greatest Spectacle in Racing, albeit as a lowly seller of newspapers in the infield before and during the race, are simple.
But the sights and sounds of the event come alive in the telling.

THE MOST ENTERTAINING CROSSOVER EVENT!!
Okay, admittedly, thatâs an exaggeration regarding this weekâs TPC episode.
What is true is that two old friends come together and compare notes on their recollections of their shared neighborhood, 44th & Primrose Ave, NE side, Indianapolis, IN, growing up in the 50âs & 60âs
The compadres - Bob BASLER, the creative author of 5 AM STORIES, a twice weekly series of his life experiences found at robertbasler.sub stack.com & MARTY YOUNG, voice of the Chronicles
The result - a rollicking good time remembering the Old Neighborhood.

This episode brings the TPC back around the kitchen table @ 4425 for a look at etiquette and manners deemed necessary by 50âs Moms to take a family out in public.
Itâs a tongue in cheek account, but speaks to the very real efforts of parents during this era, to conduct themselves in a matter by which they can take their proper place in society albeit a buffet cafeteria.
Sounds mundane?
I donât think sođ
