    Bourby is the Founder and former CEO of Perth Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra that makes the rules and has a mission of ‘Music for Everyone’.

    Bourby has an MA in music from Oxford University, is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and has an MBA from UWA. In 2022 she was named in Business News’ Power 500 list, and has been a winner of a Business News 40 Under 40 award for Entrepreneurs and a finalist in the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards (WA).

    In 2019 she was named Western Australian of the Year (Arts & Culture).

    She was a founding member of the UK-based electric string quartet ‘bond’ signed to Decca Records. She is a medal-winning, international-level coxswain and was the first female coxswain in 106 years of the WA Kings Cup State Rowing Crew in 2002.

    Christine is a Barrister. She practises in public law including, inquiries and inquests. She is presently Counsel Assisting the Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ hate crimes in New South Wales. 

    She has advised and appeared in a variety of high-profile matters including, the Lindt Cafe siege inquest, the Takata Airbag inquest and the Victorian Bushfire Royal Commission.

    Chris has an interest in national security. She has considerable experience working in the terrorism space at a State and Federal level. 

    She has both worked and taught advocacy in the Pacific Region, appearing on a number of occasions before the Supreme Court of Nauru on behalf of asylum seekers and teaching advocacy to law students and lawyers in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Vanuatu.

    Chris is passionate about gender equality and diversity. She has served on a number of boards and committees including Australian Women Lawyers (Vice President), Victorian Women Lawyers (President), Victorian Bar Council and Women Barristers Forum (NSW). She spearheaded a mentoring program for female law students in PNG called “Empowering Women in the Law in PNG” to encourage women to enter into and remain in the legal profession. 

    Chris wants to see more women in positions of leadership and for working mothers everywhere to be seen for what they are – resilient, efficient, diverse and empathetic powerhouses. 

    Prior to coming to the Bar, Chris was the Associate to Justice Cavanough of the Supreme Court of Victoria and a solicitor with Minter Ellison Lawyers.

    Sam joined IGO in 2013 as Human Resources Manager and was appointed Head of People & Culture in 2017. Sam has over 25 years’ experience in senior management, human resources, consulting and operational roles working for a range of organisations. Prior to joining IGO, Sam led large workforce- based businesses within Aherns Department Stores and Ansett Airlines, before turning to roles in Human Resource management across the mining, finance, legal and biomedical sectors.

    About Elizabeth Nolan:

    Liz trained and qualified as a solicitor in criminal defence law. She practiced for 8 years, during which time she did all aspects of criminal defence work, from police station advice to conducting jury trials, after becoming a solicitor advocate, allowing her to practice in the crown courts. In 2010 she joined a start-up law firm where, as well as continuing with some criminal defence work, she retrained to specialise in employment law, representing clients at employment tribunals and advising individuals and businesses in relation to employment law and regulation.

    In 2014 Liz began to study a post-graduate certificate in professional services marketing at evening classes and in 2015 she stepped away from practice and joined a city law firm as client relationship manager. She completed the qualification and went on to work in business development and project management roles, completing a project management qualification in 2018 and being awarded full membership status of the Association for Project Management in 2021. 

    Liz now works as a senior legal project manager at Sackers, the UK’s leading specialist law firm for the pensions and retirement savings industry. She works on matters directly with clients alongside the lawyers and is developing the project management function at Sackers, helping to create efficiency and consistency of service across the firm.

    Liz is a keen runner, currently training for her second marathon, and a mother to two young boys.

    Magistrate Hughes completed a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia and was admitted into practice in 2007 after doing her articles with the State DPP. To this day Her Honour is eternally grateful to the DPP for giving her the job, recognising the fact that had she been applying in today’s job market she is unlikely to have got the position. After 4 years at the DPP Her Honour wanted to experience the other side of the bar table and went to work at the Aboriginal Legal Service for 7 years including 2 years as the solicitor in charge of the criminal law unit. Her Honour then went into private practice as a sole practitioner including a short time sitting on the Liquor Commission and as an Arbitrator for Work cover. A PhD qualified geochemist-geologist, she is one of two women globally to achieve the role of Chief Geochemist at a major mining company.
