"And Jeroboam said to his wife, "Please arise, and disguise yourself....."
Kings 14:2a NKJV
Are you disguising? Pretending to be someone you're not before God?
It's time to let go of that mask and show God the version of you that is broken and needs help and healing.

How are you standing?
There is an order, a plan for your life. You are not a coincidence. There is a domino effect to your walking with God- people whose salvation freedom and destinies are linked to you. How are you standing? Because your stance dictates and affects the stance of those whose lives are attached to yours.
In the midst of the different storms and experiences of life, the inclination might be to fall, to stop, to begin to waver. Are you in the faith? You can’t leech off of others' relationship with the Holy Spirit. Your relationship with the Holy Spirit needs to be nurtured and nourished. To be honest, you cannot stand well on your own- disconnected from Your source. We are called to live in Him- in Christ.
Be defiant. Refuse to be overcome by the wiles of the enemy. Your stance of defiance can only be rooted in living by God’s Spirit.
Stand. Lean completely into Christ, and stand.

As simple as it sounds, you can’t go far or fast, carrying heavy loads. We need to let the baggage go. It doesn’t matter if you’re so used to it, it feels like second skin. There is a better existence without baggage. Let’s do the bold thing of naming every single one. And presenting them to the Lord, allowing Him to work on us.
It might not be fixed in an instant, but it is a worthwhile process. Let’s take a cue from David in Psalm 55, “As for me, I shall call upon God,
And the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice…Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail)”
Be assured, He will hear your voice. He can carry the weight, He can carry your weight. Let it go ♥️…

In each season of life, we're often faced with peculiar challenges and issues. And while we're in the thick of them, they might seem insurmountable, or feel like they are too much to handle. But, as Lami says, there is a "formula" to life, tested and true. Know the word, Know God, and Trust God. And it's really that simple...listen and see.

Welcome to the first installment of "Self-Sessions". Self-Sessions are times of introspection with God, to tackle provoking questions and sort out internal issues, with our hearts laid bare before Him. These sessions are moderated by Lami Phillips-Gbadamosi, who is a licensed therapist. Join us on this journey of becoming whole mentally and emotionally.

Often, we get stuck because although we start with God, at some point we take the reins. And even there, while stuck, we tend to rely on our seeming wisdom to navigate. But can you pause? Can you pause, and then turn to God? Come into the secret place, and stay there. It is time to cease striving and let God lead you…
-
How often is it, that when you’re asked “how are you”, you respond with “fine”? Do you stop to think about the question before you answer? Are you actually honest in your response? Your answer is likely no to the last two questions. And this could be because we don’t feel seen in the space where it is being asked, or we feel that we are being asked as a formality, or a number of other reasons actually. It’s okay to admit when and why you’re not okay. That’s the first step to becoming whole in your mind. Evaluate, and then lay it at the Father’s feet, and by His grace start to become- whole and well, all that God has created you to be. And while you’re at it, begin to open up to people. We need each other.
-
The church is often avoidant of the topic of “self”. The world on the other hand, throws around the word “self”. We hear the term “self-care” mentioned every other day. There has to be a balance. Because while as Christians, we’re not supposed to be self-involved, our relationship with our “selves”- our souls- flows into all our other relationships. Even our relationship with God. The bible tell us that we ought to love our neighbour as ourselves. So, can we then truly love others if we do not love ourselves? And not love as in the feeling, but love in action- kindness, responsibility, empathy, forgiveness, support, etc.
-
1 Corinthians 13:1 says, "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal". At Charge up, Lami spoke about how we need to begin to do the actual work of loving people. Because it is love, not empty talk that wins people over. And Jesus said, that by our love everyone will know that we are His disciple (John 11:34-35).
-
At this charge-up, Lami re-iterated that transformation is ongoing- present-continuous.
Sometimes, we subconsciously think that we can undo our righteousness. But your salvation is not contingent on your actions! No atonement on your part can ever compare to Jesus’ sacrifice. Jesus paid it all. Once, for all time (Hebrews 9:26, Romans 6:10). Don’t be so fixated on your struggles and your sinning that you take your eyes off Jesus. The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. You may sin (verb/action) sometimes on this journey yes. But, that does not make you a sinner (noun/identity). Your identity has been redeemed from sin and death by Christ, and you are called righteous by the Father- the Lord of all. So, walk out of those grave clothes. Live in your new robes…
-
The Bible tells us that we are the light of the world. But, what does it mean that we are light? Lami talked about this at charge-up. Hint: it's not about striving to become.
-
At charge-up this Sunday, Lami urged us to courageously begin the process. The process of sorting out the nonsense, and taking out the trash for good. Allowing God to renew your mind.
-
We have put up with "nonsense" for far too long. We have allowed anxiety, doubt, inferiority, etc. come in the way of our communion with God, and our embracing grace. Lami charges us to confront these things. To name them and shame them for good, as we get into shape in the areas of belief, attitude, and authority.
-
Our minds are programmed to think that we're safe when we're in control. But that's a lie because control is an illusion. God, is in control. And so, Lami encourages us to let go, go further into the waters, and move to the deep end. Because that's really the best place to be. Familiar isn't necessarily God's best for you. There is more (and more of Him) to discover in the deep end.
-
Let go of the baggage, and forgive yourself. You are a new creature, the past is dead and gone. Every day you're presented with choices. Choose to believe that you are who God says you are- forgiven, redeemed, a perfected spirit. Choose to believe that there is no condemnation against You. Choose to reject pop-ups from the dead life. Choose to reject dwelling on those memories. Live in your new reality, don't pitch your tent in the past.
-
Bearing in mind that you were created in the image of God, how do you see yourself? Believing right is instrumental to your identity. So also, believing wrong is instrumental to your identity. There is active intentionality when it comes to conforming to our identity- who God sees us as.
-
Our speaker at charge-up was Lami. Too often, we feel therefore we are, and therefore we act. Our feelings are a function of our mind/soul. When we received salvation, our spirits were renewed but our minds weren't. So letting ourselves be led by our feelings is a dangerous way to live. Instead, fix Your eyes on Jesus and allow yourself be led by God's spirit. Focus on saved, not sin. Renew your mind
-
The word Lami gave at charge-up centered on the fact that we are new men in Christ. We have a soul, but we are spirits. Our spirits have been renewed and joined with God’s spirit. But often, we don’t live daily in this reality. Because our souls/ minds need to be renewed. In Christ, you are perfect, righteous, and saved.
-
In this episode, Lami reminds us of God's grace. Grace cannot be earned, it has already been given to us in Christ. Why have we abandoned God's marvellous grace for striving in works?
