  • Young children are practising play, learning through play and growing through play. This is helping develop their brain and their ability to think. Clara Codd's Theosophy for Very Little Children has a lesson about thought called "What Things are Like". It affirms the connectedness that young children are a part of. It teaches about thought. It is an important lesson because although it is a type of formal instruction (which Gino is against), it is an example of how you can talk to children once you have their bond, their respect and acceptance. Notice how in this lesson there is no telling anyone what to think or how to think. It talks about the truth of thought and paints a picture of what we cannot see, yet we are all affected by.

  • In this episode we talk about courtesy. Courtesy is the sign of good behaviour, according to an ancient story from the Panchatantra. Does that mean we have to be courteous? No. Is it a good idea to be courteous? Yes. Why? because it is the right thing to do, the decent thing to do. It is the opposite of being discourteous. Discourtesy is the lack of social grace. It brings us into the world of the psychopath and the sociopath. Back to the Panchatantra, being courteous is a sign. It is a signal that you are a decent person. It sets the standard. It draws a line in the sand. It sets a boundary. It gives us cause when we respond to the bad behaviour and wrong-doings of others. Just like in this episode's fairy tale, The Three Bears.

  • In this episode we look at correspondences. The home houses the family in the microcosm. The world houses the family of humanity with God as the father. Recognising these kind of correspondences, and affirming them to young children, supports and strengthens their connectedness to the micro-family and the macro-family!

  • What to do about young children? Read fairy tales, myths and ancient stories to them. Let them play in nature. Let them play! Leave them to it! Set up your environment as a play environment. What else can you do? You can practice gratitude and visualisation. So can they! Encourage them to realise what they love in their life. Encourage them to picture where they want to be and what they want to have. Encourage them to feel like they are already there… they are experts at it. This is how they become somebody.

  • In this episode (#77) we talk about God's Plan, which is a beautiful lesson from Theosophy for Very Little Children by Clar M. Dodd. Can elements of the lesson be picked up in the story of The Daisy and The Sunflower? After learning about God's plan, can your own plans come into your mind through cloud gazing? Are there signs in the clouds to help you with your dharma? Try it out with your kids and let them help you be who you are here to be, thanks to God's plan!

  • Today we play some music, we listen to an Australian fairy tale, and to a Jack story!

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 74
There is nothing that we cannot do. We can do anything that we put our mind to. We can affect the growth of plants by transferring our intentions and energy onto them, like in The Grape Vine's Story. The lady, in a way, deceives the grapevine to please her. Jack in Jack The Giant Killer shows us that we can outsmart and outplay grownups as young children. We can defeat opponents much bigger than us. We need to trick our minds into believing it is all true. Young children are capable of this when they are affirmed and recognised as confident and capable. We need to let the young keep their magic and bring it into adulthood to create the kind of world we were meant to live in.

  • When you listen with your child to an episode of The Secret Kindergarten, don't forget to read the show description, where the reasons behind the resources used are always explained. The audio is for the kids but the description is for the parents or the child carers!

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 73
People need to learn the most important lessons, to find the most important truths, by themselves. That's why some people don't learn about objective morality for a long time. This is why young children need the best conditions for development. They need play, they need a connection with adults who revere them. They need to be recognised as confident and capable. They need to be recognised as magical. Then, when they grow up, they will find the most important truths with ease. We won't have to force facts down each other's throats, we won't need to be the governed nor the governors of others. We will be self guided and guides for the children. We will be aware, awake, alive and we will be free.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 72

"Follow children learning their fables; and you will see that when they are in a position to apply them, they almost always do so in a way opposite to the author’s intention, and that instead of looking within themselves for the shortcoming that one wants to cure or prevent, they tend to like the vice with which one takes advantage of others’ shortcomings."
    Emile Rousseau

The above quote was taken out of Off With Their Heads!: Fairy Tales and The Culture of Childhood by Maria Tatar. Maria Tatar starts off the first chapter with this quote. Tatar argues that Little Red Riding Hood, and other fairy tales, originated as dirty parlour stories before they were "moralised" to scare children into listening to their mother. Emile Rousseau says that children do the opposite to what the author intended as the outcome for the listening child. So, what are the intentions of the author of any of the well-known fairy tales? If the stories have been heavily revised, who revised them and why? A story has to be created, it has to come from the mind. Has the moral "re-working" of Little Red Riding Hood lasted this long by coercion? Or has it resonated with symbols and values that people agree with deep down? Mothers certainly want their children to listen to them. Relationships require listening from all involved. When adults respect and listen to young children, the young children will listen and respect back… they need this dynamic to learn and grow their minds in the best way possible.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 71

"And those beautiful daisy flowers which go to sleep when the sun goes down, are like babies with their eyes shut, gone to sleep too. In the morning the daisies will open their petals out again, as soon as the sun gets up to call them and the babies will open their eyes too, and be very lively, and make sure you play with the babies! Perhaps, when our eyes are shut too, the little fairies who live with the flowers will join hands and dance and dance. The moonlight always makes them want to dance. Let us go to sleep, and then we shall slip away from our bodies and we can run out and join hands with them, and dance and dance too. And we can catch all the lovely thoughts which are like flowers in God's other house, and take them to the people who would like to have them."

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 70
"The Story of The Broom" teaches young children about the Natural Law Principle of Vibration. We are all connected and we have a resonant rippling effect on all things we do and how we do them. Adults' patience is put to the test when they engage in activities with young children. It is the challenge with a reward to unlocking higher powers.

Here is an activity for you grown-ups to do with young children at the beach or the river… wherever there is sand. This activity is taken from the book Trails, Tails & Tidepools in Pails:

    Sand Slides

    Materials Required:
    Sand
    3x5 index cards
    Clear tape
    Magnifier
    Scissors or hole punch

    Create a Sand Scan Slide:
    • Punch or cut out several small holes in a 3x5 index card.
    • Cover the underside of each hole with clear sticky tape.
    • Press your "slide" into the sand, sticky side down, to pick up several small patches of sand.
    • Hold a magnifying glass close to your slide, and watch the sand become bigger.
    • Notice that sand is made up of millions of sand grains which are teeny tiny bits of rock. Sometimes bits of shell from sea animals are mixed in with the sand grains
    • How many colours and shapes can you find in the sand grains?
    • Close your eyes and picture each grain of sand being at one time part of a huge rock or mountain.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 69

My journey began when I decided to throw myself into the world of young children in the preschool environment. It was a place I could use my patience, and grow it. I started to get synchronicities. I didn't dive too deep into the meanings… I took them as a pat-on-the-back from God. I learned that my intuition was growing from my time "suffering" the children. I learned about animal spirit guides and started to learn about the meaning of the animal synchronicities I was receiving (because kids are surrounded by animal symbolism). I learned that this connection extended to plants and all things in nature. I received a gift from someone who looked after our cat while we were away. It was a pendulum. "This is going too far", I thought. The cat-sitter, who became our friend, persisted. "Have you tried using it yet?". I politely delayed and delayed, making excuses for not being crazy enough to take answers from a stone on a chain! When I eventually tried it, I was fascinated and I have watched the pendulum swing from my hands, for a time, every day since. The pendulum led me to asking direct questions about who I am connecting with. The pendulum led me to learning about the fairies and also the angels. I struggled to understand how they could co-exist. Am I Pagan or am I Christian? Is it one or the other, or can it be all things at once? I let sleeping dogs lie, and kept on keeping on. My dowsing and intuition helped me reflect and make the right decisions. It got me started with The Secret Kindergarten. In researching for resources for the show, I discovered books from the Theosophical Society for the education of children. They talk about the fairies and the angels. the same fairies and angels I discovered from working with young children. This episode features more content from the Theosophical Society, because my experience in the past proves what they are saying is true and right for the young children. At least, those involved in creating the material had their heart and experience in the same place as myself. The angels do help us to grow if we are trying to do good in the world. I learned this over time while teaching, without giving it too much thought. And now I discovered a story, saying the same thing, from the book, Theosophy for Very Little Children.

  • In this episode, we read more fairy tales, a timeless prayer, and then we do a breathing activity at the end!

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 68
“The Vision of Visions” is taken from the Bhagavad Gita. I found it in God Talks with Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita. How many times has “The Vision of Visions” been read? How many times has it been spoken throughout time? I have adjusted the prayer to try and make it more understandable. Mainly replacing the old English pronouns. When you listen to it, do you get the message? Do you get a particular feeling? I’m genuinely curious. My paraphrasing of the message in “The Vision of Visions” is as follows: “There is a God. God created everything. There is good and evil. There are good circumstances and bad circumstances. We should be grateful for our life and strive to do good. We should live to fight against evil because God is good and he gave us choices.” My understanding of “The Vision of Visions” is why it is an amazing prayer for children to hear. It sums up life in truth and the age of the text promises its availability in the collective consciousness. As we tap into the collective from our subconscious mind, it surely must be readily available to connect with those who are operating in the subconscious brainwave state… our young children.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 67
Fairy tales are important for many reasons. One reason is because fairies are real! Are there physical Tinkerbells fluttering around in the forest when you aren’t there? Maybe, maybe not. But there is life in the earth, the stones, the plants, the flowers, the trees, the sky. Fairies are a spiritually scientific way of naming this. Young children are more connected to the unseen than adults are. Reading fairy tales to young children, with reverence, is an affirmation of the truth. Spending time with young children, and treating them with reverence, brings you into the fairy tale world. You develop your intuition and get connected with the unseen in nature. It’s a reward. It’s what some may call “eco-spirituality”. It’s what comes about when families connect with each-other and with nature.

  • Today Gino reads you some old stories and myths, and if you're able to sit through to the end, we play a fun game in the snow! (because winter is coming here Down Under 😊)

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 66
In this episode we introduce Parable Time, Prayer Time and we cover part of Lesson IV of The Eternal Verities for Teachers of Children. The prayer is “The Vision of Visions” from God Talks With Arjuna in The Bhagavad Gita. What is the benefit of telling stories and saying prayers from such ancient resources? The Truth that is scattered through these old stories and myths. The Truth doesn’t change, perhaps that’s why some stories stand the test of time. These old myths and stories tap into the “All”, they highlight the “allness” of things. Young children are most connected to the “allness” of things. Instead of indoctrinating kids out of this sense… a solution is to read myths and fairy tales to affirm their natural connection to the “All”.

  • In this episode, we learn about the magical Fairy World! I also read you a BIG FAT STORY about Soldier Jack, the choices he makes and their consequences.

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 65
I discovered many hidden things about the world when I was teaching young children. Studying occult material, spirituality, Natural Law and so on, I was having such a magical time. My experiential knowledge was going to be kept at anecdotal evidence only. There was a search for esoteric and occult information regarding early childhood. I found Steiner, I found Rosicrucian material and Theosophical material. I chose not to read it during my teaching practice. I was experiencing so much and developing my knowledge through discovery. I knew that the teaching thing was on a short timer, with the way the world is going. So, years later, I have been reading the material I found. The story of the Fairies from, The Eternal Verities, is one example of esoteric-mystery-school-teachings-for-young-children that I can share with confidence and the knowing in heart for it to be true to share with young children.

  • It's time to open up the cages and let our spirits sail on the sea of life - A poetry and stories packed episode!

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 64

The indigo children are clear examples of how children are “in the hands of God”. The indigo children show how children are still coming through from “the other side”. They remind us that of the water that our ships/souls sail on. The phenomena of the indigo children is a cultural trap too. It promotes the idea that “my child is superior to others”. At the risk of criticising parents (of which I am not one), our lack of confidence and our disharmony sees us as separate from one another. We compare ourselves to others. We want to be different and better than others, but we already are different and better.. our soul is trying to push this out of us, but we get the internal message wrong amongst all the external messaging we receive in the distorted world we live in. The point being is that all children are indigo children. All children are special, all humans are able to tap into their “indigo”.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 63

The Golden Bird is classified in the Aarne-Thompson index as a “Supernatural Helper” fairytale. The supernatural helper is the fox. The fox is often a supernatural helper in fairy tales. In shamanic and indigenous cultures, animals are spirits, or are connected to spirits, that are here to teach and guide us. They are here to help us. This is a truth that can be discovered by spending time, in earnest, with young children. The fox symbolises trusting in intuition, intelligence and breaking out of social conditioning. This symbolism rises up in the Grimm’s fairy tale, The Golden Bird. When we read to young children, we are encouraging them to grow their imagination and create the images in their mind. When we read fairy tales, myths and fables of old, we present universal truths that young children turn into images and symbols in their mind that are harmonious with nature, universal and set them up for holistic intelligence and a connection to Truth later in life.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 62

Gino reads a Brothers Grimm story that was removed after the first edition. The Children of Famine is as brutal as it sounds. The kids can handle it though! Children just came back here, they’ve likely been here before.

The brothers Grimm were motivated by the belief that a true natural way of living was passed down through story over time. They wanted to preserve folklore to keep an understanding of common sense and living with one another. Gino’s opinion is that Natural Law teachings are found in folklore tales. So, the point is, The Secret Kindergarten is driven to preserve these stories too. If it’s banned, we will use our common sense and decide whether or not to read it. Did you know Dr. Seuss books are being banned? We are winding the clock back.

Gino doesn’t precisely know how The Children of Famine is of benefit to young children and families. But it opens the conversation up to realities that are faced by people on earth, and in a way that it is appropriate for young children, through spending time and reading stories. Young children are wise enough to hear about death, destruction and wrong-doing. So we should bring these dynamics into the conversation and be curious about what young children have to say about these things.

  • The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children Ep. 61

“Enlightenment should not be regarded as an extraordinary attainment. We can all be better, wiser, and more useful if we firmly resolve to attain mental and emotional maturity.”
    - Manly P. Hall

If you treat young children like they are mentally and emotionally mature, they will become wise, useful and be the best they can be.

In this episode we highlight this reverence with: a Grimm’s fairy tail about a wise boy; the numerological significance of the number 3; the wisdom of the alder tree.

Trees are wise, they have that vibe, don’t you think? We share an activity idea that families can do wherever they find a big tree and a seedling. Steiner spoke of the importance of the engagement with families and nature to ferment the spiritual aspect of life. This “eco-spirituality” can be tapped into by getting out in nature and playing with the kids.

The following is from Lesson 11 (paraphrased) from The Eternal Verities for Teachers of Children:

Evil swells the debts to pay,
    Good delivers and acquits;
Shun evil, follow good; hold sway
Over thyself. This is the way.

There are various deceptive and dishonest methods that we might have considered inconsequential, but they do matter; they contribute negative consequences and disgrace to our moral balance, and eventually, these effects need to be reconciled. Even a small falsehood is akin to planting an acorn seed that could grow into a mighty tree if we nurture it by remaining silent when we should speak up. We might delude ourselves into thinking that silence doesn't constitute lying, but this is the most deceitful form of falsehood because it deceives us internally. We must be truthful enough to understand the motives behind our actions or inactions; otherwise, we're not truly honest. Fabricating lies to shield or benefit ourselves incurs a hefty karmic toll.

We shouldn't seek to pardon ourselves for wrongdoing, nor should we attempt to excuse others. It's more beneficial to be honest with someone, point out their mistakes, and assist them in improving, rather than excusing them and allowing them to forget the lessons they need to learn — that consequences await them. Sometimes, we offer excuses because we believe it will make the other person feel more kindly towards us, but this isn't honest behaviour.

The Secret Kindergarten Radio Show for Young Children is live every Saturday 2.00pm-3.00pm Eastern Time on Revolution Radio (Studio A): https://www.revolution.radio/.
