In this spur of the moment recording, Lisa and I discuss her ex-husband's abandonment of their family and how God ultimately redeemed it, what parenthood reveals the sacrificial love of God, and to my surprise, what she believes to be the TRUTH about the Mormon church (SPOILER: it involves the word "cult").

Imagine this: You're sitting at home, daydreaming about proposing to the love of your life when out of nowhere, the Spirit of God rushes in and shuts the whole thing down.
This is part three of my series on the truth about gay sex. This go round, I'm chatting with longtime basketball player and coach Jordan Greenleaf. Jordan revisits the childhood rejection from boys that convinced her that she could only be desirable to women and the long season of rebellion that followed. As you'll hear, it was only through God's intervening grace that Jordan came to believe what she now believes. For this reason, she remains compassionate toward those who believe differently, and shares my concern for the homophobia (*true* homophobia) that exists within the church.

In this shocking conversation, Pastor Sean Finch details the childhood trauma that led to decades of anxiety and extreme timidity. We discuss his unhealthy coping mechanisms (beginning with the alcoholism he developed at age 13), and the drugs, violence, psychosis, and eventual white supremacy that came to define his young life. So how did a drug-addled, psychotic Nazi find Jesus? You gotta hear this one.Want to WATCH this interview, instead of just listening? Should we really believe what Scripture says about homosexuality? If you listened to the end of my most recent episode featuring gay (and openly sexually active) creator Melody Rachel, you know that MY answer is YES. Though I shared my own thoughts on that episode, I also wanted to share a few additional perspectives. To that end, I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Autumn Joy, whose testimony truly blew my mind!
Autumn and I covered quite a bit, including God’s very intentional design, trauma and psychosexual development, the inner workings of desire (and why some men seem to think with one particular organ), the connection between religious spirits, legalism, and homosexuality, and the reliability of God’s Word. This was such a fun and God-glorifying interview — I hope you enjoy it!

This is a storytelling podcast, not a debate podcast, but there's a first time for everything! In this episode, I chat with YouTuber, podcaster, and performer Melody Rachel about homosexuality, holy Scripture, and why we disagree.
Whether you agree with me, Melody, or neither, listen closely and think through your (possibly emotional) reaction! And if you're feeling extra generous, share your thoughts with me. Your words just might make it into my next episode...!

We're talking real deal miracles like God telling her where to hide and shielding her from men with machetes… yeah. For years now, I've been watching brother-sister filmmaking duo Noah and Jenna Sue Bennett craft their forthcoming TV pilot ANTI. The pilot — which they produced alongside The Chosen's Justen Overlander — chronicles the life and temptations of the Antichrist. WHY the Antichrist?! In this episode, the Bennetts explain their motivations, and what the Antichrist's humanity means for the rest of us.
Check out the ANTI trailer, and learn more about their mission!

I've received a number of interview pitches over the years, but this was one of the wildest I’ve ever read:
“I started using drugs at 14 years old and began worshipping Satan shortly afterward. I eventually got to the point where I had a new sexual partner about every week, sold ounces of cocaine, used heroin and meth and a slew of other drugs daily, and continued worshipping demons for power and fame. I had supernatural experiences regularly. I am skipping a lot of details, but I ended up having an overdose that changed everything.”Needless to say, I responded to that email and I’m so glad I did!
Though Mason’s story is a jaw-dropper, it’s not just that. Ultimately, it’s a picture of how grief, abuse, and cultish theology led a young boy to go his own way — until he finally found his way back into the arms of his loving and impossibly patient Savior.

In 2008, Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi tragically lost her fiancé Jeff. The immensity of Gretchen's grief led her into a long season of anger toward God -- but as she shares in this interview, God could handle it. Not only was the Lord capable of sticking near to Gretchen in that season — He also had a redemptive plan.
In this episode, Gretchen and I delve into her decision to join the Housewives franchise, the CHAOS that ensued, and how God used it all to prove Himself faithful. We also discuss the media's demonic influences (and the need to guard our hearts), how the Lord uses our suffering to produce character, and the true meaning of surrender.

Outspoken de-transitioner Laura Perry recounts the childhood sexual trauma that resulted in lifelong hyper-sexuality, pornography addiction, and persistent gender confusion. As you’ll hear, Laura went to great lengths to overcome her dysphoria, including a full mastectomy and hysterectomy. Yet, Laura’s mental battle raged on and on and on…until God moved. This is the miraculous story of an unexpected, deep-healing transformation made possible in Jesus Christ.

Having grown up with few financial means, Erica Hardy has long dreamed of making her own way. But since exchanging crystals and yoga for Jesus and prayer, Erica has undergone a massive heart and mind transformation... and with that has come a renewed vision of "success." So what is healthy, God-honoring ambition? And how does it differ from the ambition of the world?
In this episode, Erica and I discuss her new age past (which included strange rituals involving menstrual blood...), her decision to marry her husband the week she met him, her hard-won victory over limiting thought loops (spoiler: it was won by Jesus), and how we can confidently work "as to the Lord and not to men" (Colossians 3:23).

I had the pleasure of chatting with retired Pennsylvania prison chaplain Henry G. Covert, author of the celebrated book Ministry to the Incarcerated, which I first read in seminary! Before becoming a chaplain, Henry spent nearly two decades working as a police officer and detective…suffice it to say, he has a deep understanding of crime, punishment, and the lasting solution found at the Cross.
The majority of this conversation centers on Henry’s relationship with a condemned man named Keith Zettlemoyer, who requested Henry's presence on the day of his 1995 execution. We discuss the difficult details of Keith's final hours, how Jesus’ finished work should shape the Christian understanding of life and death, the difference between Old Testament and New Testament visions of justice, Henry's personal faith journey, and how we can maintain an active (NOT passive!) journey toward holiness.

Years ago, teenager Amy Ford showed up at an abortion clinic with every intention of ending her pregnancy. But through an unexpected turn of events, she ended up keeping her baby AND encouraging thousands of other girls and women to do the same.
In this interview, Amy revisits the emotional rollercoaster of her unplanned pregnancy, which was made even harder by the church’s propensity toward shame. In addition to unpacking the consequences of this shame, we discuss common misconceptions about the Gospel (heart transformation > behavior modification), social media fakeness, feminism, and what God’s Word ACTUALLY has to say about purity.

Does God still give people personal revelations? Can we actually trust a prophetic word? In this episode, science fiction filmmaker Brock Heasley RETURNS to Then God Moved to recount his decision to hold onto God’s promises, despite the enemy’s many lies. As you’ll hear, Brock’s faithfulness has been majorly rewarded. Not only is his film (which was once seemingly on the brink of failure) now in theaters, but it ultimately gained the one and only Dallas Jenkins, creator/director of The Chosen, as Executive Producer. Brock and I also discuss Satan's voice, the connection between spiritual oppression and mental illness, the social and spiritual difficulties of creating subversive Christian content, and the worthwhile pain of becoming holy.

What is the Christlike response to the Israel and Palestine conflict – and why are so many Christians getting it wrong? To investigate this, I pick the brain of pastor, theologian, homiletics professor, and longtime missionary Alex Awad.
Born in East Jerusalem in 1946, Professor Awad was two years old when the state of Israel arose. That same year, his father was shot dead by Israeli forces; soon after, his surviving family joined the many Palestinian refugees expelled from their homes for Israeli gain. But despite the immensity of historical and continual Palestinian suffering, Professor Awad harbors no bitterness toward the Israeli people. As you’ll hear, he merely carries a desire to correct the many theological lies that underlie the American church’s blind support of Israel, as well as a God-given hope for peace and reconciliation.
Professor Awad and I address common misconceptions about Israel/Palestine history, dispensationalism and other pro-Israel interpretations of end times prophecy, the problem with replacement theology, and the breakthroughs made possible when we embrace the compassionate nonviolence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On October 25, 1985, 24-year-old Derrick Jamison was sentenced to death for a murder he didn't commit. Despite a wealth of evidence pointing to his innocence, Derrick sat on Ohio's death row for 20 years...that is, 20 years TO THE DATE. On October 25, 2005, Derrick walked off of death row a free man. And as he shares with me, this freedom was not only physical – it was ultimately and supremely spiritual.

After years of suffering abuse at the hands of her father, Professor Nancy Pearcey was a self-described hater of men. But through a series of divine appointments both with devout Christians and God Himself, she miraculously (and perhaps even controversially) exchanged her hate towards men for compassion, care, and concern. A renowned theologian, Professor Pearcey is now a prolific author of books on the pitfalls of cultural Christianity and its submission to secularism, especially as it relates to gender, sex, and relationships. In this episode, she and and I unpack parenthood, hook up culture, the transgender debate, and...Andrew Tate?!

In this episode, my friend Jasmine Harris joins me for an in-person recording in my home studio! Warning: this is possibly my goofiest episode yet. That said, we touched on some heavy topics (content warning): childhood sexual abuse, suicidal ideation, daddy issues, sleep paralysis, generational inequities, self-sabotage, and perhaps most importantly, why we should not delay our obedience.
