Do Androids dream of electric sheep? This was the titular question asked by Philip K. Dick’s 1968 dystopian novel that served as the basis for the Blade Runner films. This week, we learn they actually dream of river dancing daisies in the Emerald City as we explore Robot Dreams, the actor-less and dialogue-free Oscar-nominated animated feature film from Spanish producer/writer/director Pablo Berger.

What do Bruce Lee, Shrek, Mean Girls, Sergio Leone, Get Out, Bollywood, Kill Bill, Charlie Chaplin, and All About Eve have in common? NOTHING! But that didn’t stop first-time writer/director Nida Manzoor from throwing them all into a single movie. It’s Polite Society.

Episodes manquant?

This week, we make up for lost time with another unhinged performance by Cage, one of our favorite Time Sensitive subjects. We close our sixth annual Freaky Film Festival with one of the buzziest horror films of 2024, with arguably the best marketing campaign of any film all year. Some are even calling it the best serial killer movie since Silence of the Lambs. I’m happy as peaches to review Longlegs, NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, but AS MANY TIMES AS I LIKE, directed by Oz Perkins, especially because it has a connection to one of our favorite Time Sensitive episodes.

This week, we continue our festival with a horror standout from 2024 that answers the question: What if Jimmy Kimmel and “Long Island Medium” Teresa Caputo hosted a variety show? It’s Late Night with the Devil, directed by Aussie brothers Colin and Cameron Cairnes.

David Cronenberg is the director of this week’s subject, 1986’s The Fly, one of his early signature body horror films, and often referred to as one of the genre’s best. Will this change Ian and Sam's mind on the body horror genre? Listen to find out.

It’s that time of year again! Throughout the entire month of October, Time Sensitive will be devoted to blood, guts, and the BEST classic and under-the-radar horror films.
This week, we kick off our sixth annual Freaky Film Festival with an instant classic, whose real cult classic status could not be appreciated until now, 18 months after its original release. She’s more than a toy. She’s family. She’s a box office juggernaut. She’s camp. She’s a queer icon. She’s M3GAN.Check us out on...

Financial scams against the elderly are an unfortunate, and increasingly common phenomenon. But what happens when a fraudster messes with the wrong grandma? Well, you get what some are calling an early contender for the year’s best comedy. Buckle up, kids. Revenge has never been sweeter. We review Thelma directed by Josh Margolin.

This week we profile a story that features sex, true crime, race, consent, delusion, agency, power imbalances, white-saviorism, and disability. All cultural fault lines with the potential for a damaging quake of reaction. It’s our first non-fiction film of Season 6. It’s Netflix’s much-hyped documentary Tell Them You Love Me.

This week on the pod, SAM READS A BOOK! That’s right! As an extension to our standard review formula, we’ve elected to read the original novel in which this week’s subject is based, and reflect on how the film adaptation adheres to the text. That film is The End We Start From, adapted from Megan Hunter’s 2017 minimalist, dystopian survival novel of the same name.

This week, we chose to step outside our traditional realm of under-the-radar films to talk a bit about one of Hollywood’s buzziest new A-listers. With a short, but lucrative box office resume, a Rolodex that boasts Tom Cruise, J. J. Abrams, Sylvester Stallone, Steven Spielberg, Peyton Manning, and Richard Linklater, and classic leading man good looks, we have to ask… is this the year of Glen Powell?

This week, we profile Harlem with an ode to black motherhood. We’re offered a complex look at the damaged foster care system, the power of a chosen family, and a damning portrait of gentrification in New York City. Manohla Dargis of The New York Times called it, “A New York love story.” It’s A. V. Rockwell’s Sundance winner A Thousand and One.

This week, the rubber hits the road as we travel back to post-WWII Italy for a high octane, pulse pounding F1 racing flick and end up deep in some 70-year-old Italian soap opera. And all I have to say is…
Perhaps you have a need for speed? It’s Michael Mann’s Ferrari.

What happens when you throw a bunch of talented people into a road movie, throw in some lesbian sexploitation and tagline it with some silly double entendre like “A story of two ladies going South,” and have that movie carried solely by the name ID of one half of a dynamic filmmaking duo? You get the “gleefully anarchic caper with one foot in the world of Looney Tunes,” also known as Drive-Away Dolls, co-written and directed by Ethan Coen. A day late and a dick short.

You've gotten to know Sam and Ian over the last six seasons of Time Sensitive, and by now, it should be clear what we do and don't like. Well, now we are forcing each other to embrace those things that we don’t like, as we continue a series called “Forced to Watch.”
This week we play in to Sam's biggest fears, and every stereotype imaginable. It’s Ryan Murphy’s 2020 adaptation of The Prom.
