In the very first episode of the Talking Heads Podcast, Lucy and Saul introduce themselves as Head Gardeners of two large estate gardens in which they have been working for 5 years each.
They start by having a conversation about what being a Head Gardener means to them, how it has influenced the way they garden and how the profession is shaped in modern times.
Lucy gives Saul a tour of East Donyland Hall, the garden she manages, exploring how she is shaping the planting and design of the gardens and discussing with Saul some of how she puts her knowledge into practical action and future plans for parts of the garden (Part 1 of 2).
They finish by discussing the work that they both do in the gardens prompted by many of their non-gardener friends believing that winter is a very quiet period - but actually it can be the busiest time of year for any Head Gardener.
