In this week’s episode of Playful Podcast, we sit down with Hollee J, who shares her personal journey of overcoming heroin addiction through a combination of domination and meditation.
During this episode, we delve into Hollee’s experience of entering the world of BD5M clubs at the age of 16. While Hollee’s introduction to heroin wasn’t through the k1nk scene, she found herself battling addiction at a very young age.
In this conversation we speak about:
– What her everyday life was like on a heroin addiction
– How the kink scene became her lifeline on the path to sobriety
– Some intense (and funny) stories from her work as a dominatrix
and much more.
We want to highlight that this conversation may be triggering and that we are talking about substance abuse from Hollees own experience. Meaning there are no professional inputs in this conversation. If you or someone you know is suffering from a drug addiction and wants to seek professional help. We will add some important links to the episode-description below:

EKATA is a London based DJ/Producer + Natural Selection Resident who's productions are characterised by their dark and atmospheric soundscapes, driven by pulsating rhythms and intricate synth work.Determined to create music that is unearthly, idiosyncratic and exuding futurism of that of a sci-fi film, she has a vision and always ensures a story is to be told in each track she produces. She mainly sticks to the dark and eerie side of Electro/Techno in her productions & gigs, where she will take you on a dark and twisted journey through incredibly dystopian, ominous grooves and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections. She has had an unstoppable start to her production journey, releasing on some of the best Electro labels out there; Burial Soil . CHP Recordings . Censor . Cybersoul . Furatena . Mars Frequency Records . Native Boundaries + Urban Connections with more releases scheduled for 2024. Her latest track "KILONOVA" will be out on Avoidant on 1st March 2024Tracklist via-Spotify: http://bit.ly/SRonSpotify-Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/Slam_Radio/-Facebook: bit.ly/SlamRadioGroupArchive on Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/slam/Subscribe to our podcast on-iTunes: apple.co/2RQ1xdh-Amazon Music: amzn.to/2RPYnX3-Google Podcasts: bit.ly/SRGooglePodcasts-Deezer: bit.ly/SlamRadioDeezerKeep up with SLAM: fanlink.to/SlamKeep up with Soma Records: fanlink.to/SomaRecordsFor syndication or radio queries: [email protected] & [email protected] Radio is produced at www.glowcast.co.uk

Originally from Paris, SOD-90 started producing alongside his studies as a flutist at the renewed university of classical music from Berlin. Combining his knowledge from a wide range of musical backgrounds with his experience as a professional instrumentalist, he crafted an intense sound, characterised by noisy textures, scorching synth lines, with distorted drums and twisted vocals. All this added to complex and dynamic arrangements.
After only a few years since he started producing, SOD-90 has already been supported by some of the biggest names on the scene and has released on Avoidant, Bipolar Disorder records, Emotional Voyage, with more in the pipeline very soon. He intends to continue exploring creative approaches to production, aiming to evolve his style towards an increasingly powerful and unconventional aesthetic.

Already as a teenager, Nico discovered his fondness/preference for producing electronic music. In the process, he didn't commit to any particular genre. Only the German techno scene caused him to specialize in techno production. During this time, he, among other things, acted as a DJ in various clubs in his hometown.
After some years, he had the impression that he hadn't developed further, and thus, he decided to try electro music. Nico noticed very soon that it was the right challenge for him, and so ELEKTROTECHNIK emerged in 2017. Now he was able to process his emotions and feelings, which didn't leave him unscathed due to current topics.
Since then, ELEKTROTECHNIK has put all his energy into the production of electro music. It's definitely been worth it so far because there have been multiple releases on different labels, such as NoteRecordings, Tigerweeds, Fanzine and A.Traction, where he has already released 5 EPs.

Mr. Yuk is a neon green circular sticker with a cartoon face on it. His face is scrunched up with his eyes squeezed tight and his tongue is sticking out of its mouth. It's the face you make when you taste something disgusting. He's the pictorial embodiment of the sentiment of yuck. Aptly enough: he was designed to be the symbol for hazardous substances, aimed at deterring children from ingesting them. The idea what that if you saw a Mr. Yuk sticker on something around the house, it meant that that something was poison.
Friend of the show, Gillian Jacobs, is a BIG FAN of Mr Yuk, who turns out to be a hometown hero of her beloved Pittsburgh, and talked Roman through the origins of the mean, green face that was meant to save children from their worst impulses.
Plus, we revisit another story about warning symbols from our archive: the quest to find a symbol that would warn future humans of dangerous radiation 10,000 years in the future.

Rioters carried many familiar flags during the January 6th insurrection at the United States Capitol -- Confederate, MAGA, as well as some custom-made ones like a flag of Trump looking like Rambo. Except for onlookers who were already familiar with the design, it would have been easy to overlook one particular bright yellow flag with three red horizontal stripes across the center. This was the flag of South Vietnam.
There were actually several confounding international flags present at the Capitol riot that day: the Canadian, Indian, South Korean flags, all were spotted somewhere in the mayhem. But what was peculiar about the Vietnamese flag being there was that it's not technically the flag of Vietnam but the Republic of Vietnam, a country that no longer exists. And what this flag stands for (or should stand for) remains a really contentious issue for the Vietnamese American community.
