Whether it be music, art, writing, or in this case, acting, everyone strives for that breakout moment. Serendipitously, Austin met with English actor Chris Webster right after he might have experienced that critical moment. What followed was a conversation on fame, chasing the ephemeral, giving up, moving forward, and the ins-and-outs of the LA acting industry. Mr Webster's alluring accent doesn't hurt, either.

Millions of Americans have food allergies. It affects our livelihoods, our communities, even our very economy. Luckily, we have advocates for allergy awareness like Erin Malawer, founder of AllergyStrong, an allergy education organization. As a parent of an allergic child, Erin works to help those afflicted, their families, and the community as a whole. Despite the sort of dark subject matter, this episode actually is pretty fun! Enjoy.

Today's news climate is... well, complicated. Luckily, Adam Kushner (editor, Outlook; Washington Post) talks us through how journalists create or are assigned stories, how facts are checked, how retractions are made, and generally how our news is reported. No news is good news but good news is better news.

On November 20th, 2019, the City of Los Angeles will celebrate Corita Day in honor of the most acclaimed artist you've never heard of: Sister Mary Corita / Corita Kent. Corita spent the first part of her life at LA's Immaculate Heart Community, educating students and celebrities alike with spectacular silkscreen and pop art. Eames and Hitchcock and Fuller and Cage were all her contemporaries and she designed one of the top selling US Postage Stamps of all time, yet for some reason, she's not as well known as she should be. This program aims to change that. Please listen, as it's an amazing story.

As wildfires rip through California, energy expert Kevin DeRoberts talks with Austin about the most complex machine ever invented by mankind: our energy grid. Clean, renewable, and fossil energies are traded on markets, moved between countries, and affect our daily lives either by powering our modern culture or creating far-reaching detrimental effects. This interview is electric. Boogie-Oogie-Oogie.

Reid Stowe is a mariner and an artist who spent a record 1,000 days at sea without touching land, and without ship-to-ship resupply. During that voyage, he created masterful art. Austin and Reid first discuss the difficulty of his voyage, then in front of his art at New York's Paul Calendrillo gallery, they discuss the art itself. Reid Stowe's exhibition runs until 10/31/19 at Paul Calendrillo Gallery on West 28th Street. (NOTE: Pardon the audio quality of some portions of this interview. The gallery space in which we recorded was very live with reverb. We tried our best to squelch the ambient noise.)
