The Commonwealth Games are "dying out a little bit unfortunately"- the view of proud Scottish world champion Beth Potter - who competed in Glasgow in 2014 in athletics and won Team Scotland’s first medal in the triathlon in the sunshine in Sutton Park in Birmingham in 2022.
But since that superb summer in England’s second city, the storm clouds have surrounded the Commonwealth Games Federation, when the state of Victoria and Australia pulled out of hosting in 2026.
Now 10 years on from their own glorious Games in Glasgow, Commonwealth Games Scotland has stepped up and said if the CGF can’t find another host by it’s own deadline of May this year (2024), it’s come up with a new concept for the Commonwealth Games, which could also secure it’s long term future.
Scotland is on standby and this is the story so far.

The Team GB history maker is stepping away from competitive swimming. 27 year old Alice Dearing became the first black woman to swim for TeamGB at an Olympic Games. She also set up the Black Swimming Association to diversify her sport and keep encouraging everyone to learn to swim - a basic life skill.
But what next? Alice is keen to convey a message to other British Olympic and Paralympic athletes and staff about best preparing for the process, and this comes as UK Sport, the UK Sports Institute (UKSI) and the British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) are increasing engagement with athletes to help them for their life beyond a funded programme.
This is an Anything but Footy special with Alice Dearing in her own words.

Birmingham is open for business and world sport according to Joel, despite the well publicised financial issues surrounding the City Council and cuts to budgets.
