For someone who came to the public eye as a beauty queen, very little is known about the beginnings of Nelia Sancho. What we know about her, however, is that from the moment she saw that something had to be done to put things to right, she stood up and fought for it for the rest of her life.

Liliosa Hilao was a student activist who was killed while under government detention during Martial Law in the Philippines, and is remembered as the first prisoner to die in detention during martial law in the Philippines. She was tortured and abused while in costudy at the age of 23 and 2 weeks away from graduation. We remember her story as the month of September, when Martial Law was declared and implemented 49 years ago, comes to an end.

Welcome to Part 2 of our season finale feature special. Today we will talk about Leticia Jimene-Magsanoc, one of the founders of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, where she was editor-in-chief from the mid 90’s to 2015. But before that, she fearlessly worked on telling the Filipinos the truth about what was happening in the nation in the time when journalism was strictly controlled by the regime.
