How does someone introduce Barrett Brown? That's a really tough one because the personal, professional, and political stories play off each other in numerous ways. I would have to say that first of all, Barrett Brown is one of too few to survive a very intense era of anti-authoritarian activism and state repression. In addition, Brown is a survivor of the innumerable disappointments that I feel have had a big impact on the way things are now. He is someone who has comprehended the contemporary moment and has participated in its unfolding with the skills at his disposal and he is someone who has paid a big price for taking those risks. Naturally, his recently released book, "My Glorious Defeats: Hacktivist, Narcissist, Anonymous: A Memoir of Barrett Brown" is an excellent insight into what I just said and though I'm only on Chapter 5, it has been an enjoyable read.
One of the things that Barrett is well-know for is his relationship with Anonymous at the peak of their Hacktivist period. That's what we're going to be focusing on, along with where Anonymous has gone from there.

Last month Douglas Lain (of Sublation Media) hosted a conversation between myself and Spencer Leonard. We reviewed Mikhail Bakunin's work "Statism and Anarchy" and contrasted Bakunin’s thinking with Proudhon and Marx. After some initial confusion, Doug was kind enough to give me the full episode for public release! Enjoy :)

Today we sit down with Nathan from Absurd Being to discuss his numerous deep-dives into dense philosophical texts within the phenomenological and existential traditions. Beginning with Edmund Husserl and Maurice Merleau-Ponty, we move onto later works and their relations. I highly recommend the Absurd Being channel as a companion in learning about phenomenology and philosophy in general!

Today we sit down with Daniel Tutt to discuss many things, but with a focus on György Lukács and Jean-Paul Sartre.
Daniel Tutt is a writer, philosopher, and the host of the Emancipations podcast, which delves into the intersections of philosophy, psychoanalytic theory, and contemporary political struggles. Daniel's work is a rich blend of psychoanalysis and Marxist thought, and his first book, "Psychoanalysis and the Politics of the Family: The Crisis of Initiation", published in 2022, seeks to invigorate the contemporary left by re-examining the family through these theoretical lenses.
Daniel has an impressive academic background, having studied philosophy and psychoanalytic practice at American University and the European Graduate School. He has also imparted his knowledge at George Washington University, Marymount University, and even within the DC jail system. His research and writing cover a wide array of topics, including psychoanalysis and politics, Marxist theory, social reproduction debates, and the influence of Nietzsche and Nietzscheanism on contemporary thought.
His latest book, "How to Read Like a Parasite: Why the Left Got High on Nietzsche", explores the profound impact of Nietzsche's philosophy on the left, tracing its influence from the Black Panthers to contemporary liberal academics. Daniel's insights promise to offer a thought-provoking and engaging discussion, and we're thrilled to have him with us today.

Issues of intellectual property, teacher and student strikes, the Occupy movements origins in campus occupations, and ongoing focus on student debt, big data and the digital age in general… these are all indications of something much deeper and much more enduring at the intersection of knowledge production and capital. To explore this all, I sit down with Derek R. Ford for a discussion.
Derek R. Ford is one of the founders of the Indianapolis Liberation Center, he is Involved with the International Manifesto group, he is editor of Liberation School, and he is Associate Editor of the journal, “Postdigital Science and Education.”
