🟫 The Heart Of The Matter: Coaching Couples To Connection | David and Julie Bulitt and Bryan Ward | Ep. 255

👉 What happens when a top divorce lawyer and a family therapist close the door and really talk? What’s on their minds? Who gets the last word?

👉 Married for over 35 years, David and Julie Bulitt’s are that couple.

👉 David is one of the premier DC Metro family law attorneys, representing clients in high profile divorce cases since 1986.

👉 Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience working with families. She is also an in-house therapist at Discovery Channel.

👉 Together, David and Julie have seen life’s most difficult challenges, including addiction, infidelity, mental and physical health diagnoses and trauma.

👉 At the same time, they have weathered their own challenges at home, raising four daughters, two biological and two adopted, and dealing with one child’s addiction and mental health issues.

👉 What they’ve learned about saving a marriage could fill a book — and it does.

👉 “The 5 Core Conversations for Couples” tackles every corner of relationships with the wisdom, knowledge, and best advice culled from David and Julie’s unique experiences. Drawn from notes of their discussions, chats, arguments — not always sober — and frank, funny stories, it openly tackles the basics from getting along, to parenting, communication, and sex, as well as hard-to-discuss issues like addiction, infertility, pornography, and family silence.

👉 “The 5 Core Conversations for Couples” takes you inside how these two professionals hash out some of life’s toughest personal challenges, revealing what they really think and say to each other.

👉 Please check out the episode where we discuss more about keeping our marriages healthy and strong.

  • Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast. I’m excited to share this episode.

Meet Dane Palarino, an accomplished entrepreneur and founder of Palarino Partners , a leading headhunting firm in the

    highly competitive software industry.

With a profound passion for scaling businesses through strategic talent acquisition, his mission centers on connecting top talent with companies poised for growth and

    innovation.

A few years ago, at the age

of 41, Dane faced a personal and health crossroads.

After the birth of his second child and five years into his marriage, he felt unhealthy, lacked confidence, and was unmotivated.

    Uncomfortable in his own skin,

he felt old and tired, struggling to meet the demands of his family and career.

Determined to turn his life around, Dane embarked on a transformative three-year journey, during which he reduced his body fat from 30% to 6% and significantly increased his muscle mass.

This transformation went beyond physical changes, helping him reclaim his confidence.

He adopted a hypertrophy-style training regimen and macro-based nutrition, which proved ideal for men over 35.

The challenging, yet rewarding process inspired Dane to start an online coaching business aimed at helping other men over 35 balance

their overall health, professional lives, and personal lives combined.

Please check it out and show Dane some love by following him and reaching out to him if you’re looking to get rid of that dad bod.

  • NEW EPISODE RELEASEDClick the links below or in the show notes!Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast. I’m excited to share another episode with this guest to have a tough conversation about the struggles his son will soon face.Dr. Steve Johnston is an MD/MBA with a vast understanding of the healthcare system, coupled with real-world experience in building companies, leading teams, & solving complex challenges. His son, Luke, has a rare genetic condition and is slowly going blind. Upon receiving the diagnosis that his son was going blind, nothing has been more important to Steve than championing the mission of A Race Against Blindness: support research & find a cure for retinitis pigmentosa caused by Bardet-Biedel Syndrome. This rare disease known as Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) is one of many genetic conditions that can cause RP/blindness in young children. His son, Luke, is actively going blind. Thus, the birth of A Race Against Blindness organization.Steve & his wife, Kristina, founded the nonprofit called A Race Against Blindness. But that really only scratches the surface in terms of their motivation. Since learning of Luke’s diagnosis , Steve & Kristina have become strongly connected to the rare-diseases community. While rare diseases are actually not unusual, with more than 7,000 diseases classified by the FDA as rare, each one individually often affects only a small number of people. Thus many rare diseases don’t receive enough resources to fund research for treatments or possible cures.Steve & Kristina are deeply dedicated to their mission, & their commitment is what will lead them to success. If you would like to learn more about this story, or would like to donate to the cause, please see their website link below or in the show notes.Dad Up!Dad Up Instagram:https://instagram.com/daduppodcastDad Up YouTube:https://youtube.com/c/DadUpPodcastDad Up Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dad-up-podcast/id1486764562Dad Up LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/DaduptribeSteve Johnston Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/dad.vs.blindnessKristina Johnston Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/mom.vs.blindnessNonprofit Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/a.race.against.blindnessNonprofit Website:A Race Against Blindness - Nonprofit funding sight-saving researchNonprofit Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/a.race.against.blindness?mibextid=LQQJ4dNonprofit LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/a-race-against-blindness/--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/daduppodcast/support

I’m excited to share another episode of Parenting Pep Talk.In today's episode, I want to share a question I received from a fan of the show.So I thought we could dive into the topic of building a deep connection with your teenager. As parents, it is crucial to maintain a strong bond with our teenagers, as this connection plays a vital role in their emotional well-being, development, and overall happiness. So, let's jump right in!Segment 1: Understanding the Teenage MindDuring adolescence, teenagers undergo significant physical, emotional, and cognitive changes. They are exploring their identities, seeking independence, and experiencing intense emotions. Understand these emotions.Segment 2: Active Listening and Effective CommunicationImportant to Practice genuine interest in their lives, thoughts, and concerns. Encourage open and honest communication by creating a safe and non-judgmental space. Avoid interrupting or dismissing their feelings, and instead, validate their experiences.Segment 3: Quality Time and Shared ActivitiesSpending quality time with your teenager can strengthen your bond and create lasting memories. Find activities that you both enjoy and make time for them regularly.Segment 4: Respect and TrustBuilding a deep connection requires mutual respect and trust. Respect your teenager's opinions, even if you disagree. Involve them in decision-making processes and show that their input is valued. Avoid excessive control or micromanagement, as it can hinder the development of trust.Segment 5: Empathy and Emotional SupportAdolescence can be a challenging time emotionally. Show empathy and provide emotional support for your teenager.Validate their feelings, offer guidance, and help them navigate through difficult situations. Safe to come to you.Building a deep connection with your teenager is a journey that requires patience, understanding, and effort. By practicing active listening, effective communication, spending quality time, and providing emotional support, you can create a strong and lasting bond with your teenager. • Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast.I’m excited to share this new episode of Parenting Pep Talk with special guest appearance from my wife, Andrea.Today we talk about the importance of keeping our children’s minds sharp and engaged over the summer.Keeping kids engaged in reading over the summer is crucial for their academic and cognitive development. It helps them stay sharp and ready for the upcoming school year. Reading not only enhances their language and literacy skills, but also improves their comprehension, critical thinking, and creativity. It exposes them to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives, expanding their knowledge and understanding of the world. Moreover, reading during the summer prevents the "summer slide," which refers to the loss of academic skills and knowledge during the long break.By making reading a habit, children develop a love for learning and become lifelong readers. It is important for parents and caregivers to encourage and provide opportunities for kids to read, such as visiting libraries, creating a reading routine, and engaging in book discussions.By keeping kids engaged in reading, we empower them to become informed, imaginative, and confident individuals.Dad Up!Dad Up Instagram:https://instagram.com/daduppodcastDad Up YouTube:https://youtube.com/c/DadUpPodcastDad Up Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dad-up-podcast/id1486764562Dad Up LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/Daduptribe--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/daduppodcast/support

  • Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast. I’m excited to share this new episode of Parenting Pep Talk!Today we're diving into a topic that can have a profound impact on our parenting journey: the power of positive affirmations.Positive affirmations are powerful statements that can help shape our mindset and outlook on life. When applied to parenting, they can play a significant role in fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for our children. So, let's explore how positive affirmations can positively impact our parenting journey. To start, it's important to understand what positive affirmations are. Positive affirmations are statements that reflect our desired outcomes or qualities. They are often repeated to ourselves in order to reinforce positive beliefs and thoughts. In parenting, positive affirmations can help us develop a positive mindset, build confidence, and improve our relationships with our children.Positive affirmations have several benefits in the context of parenting. Firstly, they can help us focus on the strengths and positive qualities of our children.By affirming their capabilities and unique qualities, we can boost their self-esteem and encourage them to embrace their individuality.Secondly, positive affirmations can improve our own self-confidence as parents.Parenting can be challenging, and self-doubt is natural. But by affirming our abilities, we can foster a sense of empowerment and resilience, allowing us to navigate parenting with greater confidence. Now, let's explore how we can incorporate positive affirmations into our daily parenting routine. One effective way is to create a list of affirmations that resonate with us and align with our parenting goals. These affirmations can be written down or repeated to ourselves regularly, especially during moments of stress or doubt.Additionally, we can involve our children in the process.Encouraging them to create their own positive affirmations can empower them and teach them the importance of self-belief and positive thinking.By practicing affirmations together, we create a supportive and uplifting environment for our entire family. As we wrap up today's episode, it's essential to remember that positive affirmations are not a magical solution to all parenting challenges. However, when practiced consistently and with genuine belief, they can create a positive and nurturing environment for both ourselves and our childrenDad Up!Dad Up Instagram:https://instagram.com/daduppodcastDad Up YouTube:https://youtube.com/c/DadUpPodcastDad Up Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dad-up-podcast/id1486764562Dad Up LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/Daduptribe--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/daduppodcast/support

  • Welcome to a new episode of The Dad Up Podcast. I’m excited to share this new episode of Parenting Pep Talk! One of the most challenging things we can experience as parents is the power struggle with our kids.So how do we avoid the power struggle? This episode will help you as parents avoid this issue. Here are some tips for avoiding power struggles with your child:1. Set clear and consistent rules: Make sure your child knows what is expected of them and what the consequences will be if they do not follow the rules.2. Use positive reinforcement: Praise your child for good behavior, rather than focusing only on correcting misbehavior.3. Avoid arguing or negotiating: If you give in to your child's demands, it can reinforce their belief that they can get what they want through power struggles. Instead, calmly and firmly state your expectations and stick to them.4. Give your child choices: Giving your child the opportunity to make choices can help them feel more in control and less likely to engage in power struggles.5. Encourage independent thinking: Encourage your child to solve problems and make decisions on their own, rather than always relying on you to make things happen.6. Stay calm: It can be tempting to get upset when your child challenges your authority, but try to remain calm and composed. This can help deescalate the situation and prevent it from turning into a power struggle.7. Be a good role model: Children learn by example, so make sure you model the behavior you want to see from your child.Remember that power struggles are a normal part of child development, and they will likely occur from time to time. The important thing is to stay consistent and use positive discipline strategies to teach your child how to manage their behavior and emotions.Dad UpDad Up Instagram:https://instagram.com/daduppodcastDad Up YouTube:https://youtube.com/c/DadUpPodcastDad Up Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dad-up-podcast/id1486764562Dad Up LinkTree:https://linktr.ee/Daduptribe--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/daduppodcast/support
