I am so excited to welcome Fanny Priest onto the show today!
Fanny Priest is a trauma repair coach with a background as a yoga therapist and she helps healers, feelers, queers and creatives repair their relationship with themselves so that they can feel at home in their bodies, their feelings and their needs. I have learned so much from this human, and I cannot wait for you to listen to this episode!
In it we discuss:
- The real definition of trauma (shock trauma versus developmental trauma and why it matters)
- Why developmental trauma is something that we all need to be more aware of and why it deeply effects our creativity
- How our nervous system keeps us from our imagination and play, and how to work with it
- Why books like "The Artist Way" by Julia Cameron don't go far enough to address the root causes of our creative blocks
- The vulnerability of creativity and why it can feel impossible
- Finding safety in our bodies so that we can access our creativity
- And soooo much more
You can find Fanny online at https://www.thetraumawitch.com and on IG @the.trauma.witch

In this episode, Molly chats with Anna Vos of Anna Parade. Anna has a sneaky feeling that every single person on this earth deserves to be celebrated - every single body, every identity, every gender - and she wants to throw a parade for every single one of you. That’s why she makes cool stuff (including mugs, t-shirts, pins, stickers and MORE) at Anna Parade!
A little about Anna: she is a fat femme with zero chill. She has two kids, a great spouse, and lots of humans in her life that she just really likes. She is falling in love with her fat body. She enjoys playing games with friends, gardening, getting really excited about life in general.
In this interview, Molly and Anna talk about holding celebration as a value, the idea that rest is not wasted time, Anna's journey into body acceptance and coming home to herself - how that has strengthened her creativity and life force. This conversation is SO GOOD, and full of nuggets of wisdom.
Transcripts are coming soon!
You can find Anna on Instagram at @AnnaParade or on annaparade.com

Today on the podcast, I'm talking with Charity Hamidullah! She is a full-time creative living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. During the day she pours her heart into body adornment for all complexions but once she goes home she is navigating through different forms of creation to express herself, including painting, drawing, illustration and digital art.
We talk about the story behind her getting her start in tattooing at age 16, how Kat Von D. inspired her to follow that dream, and how her creative expression has shifted and expanded through the years. We discussed how creativity is a form of mindfulness and tattoos are a way to find and declare your identity to the world, as well as how she's tapping into her creative voice during this time in history, when we're all forced to slow down as a result of COVID-19.
This conversation is a GOOD one, and I can't wait for you to dig in!

Art in the age of COVID-19. What to do about it? Lately I’ve gotten all kinds of questions about whether or not creatives should be sharing or selling their work during this time, and it’s an important topic to discuss. Join me in today’s episode as I talk about the appropriateness of art in a time fo turmoil, how to approach guilt in your art making, what is essential, and what our role is as Artists during this time. I mention Kit Cronk, who is an amazing artist and super nerd friend of mine, who creates bookish/fandom art prints, pins, mugs and more. Find her stuff on Instagram at @kitstercronk and everywhere else at Kit Cronk Studios. Huge shout out to the sponsors of this show, and to all the Patreon backers! Thank you! Today on the show, I got to chat with Devon Walz. She is a fine artist, muralist, educator and dreamer based in Southern California. Her self-study of visual art began while pursing a degree in Philosophy at UC Berkeley, and continued during her travels through 13 countries and long stretches of time spent among California's coasts, mountains and forests. Her early affinity with spirituality and healing is her greatest influence. In her paintings she aims to capture an otherworldly place where energy, emotion and form collide. She loves to transform spaces with colors and shapes, and push boundaries by working with odd materials, in extreme sizes or within unconventional structures. We talked about her creative process, the journey from art as therapy into developing a strong voice and visual vocabulary of her own, and how her creative practice has changed over time. We dig in to her inspirations as an artist, her latest collection, as well as some nitty-gritty practical details about what it means to be a working artist in the world right now. Our society gives so much value to content creation and constant productivity. We have a hard time slowing down and taking time to rest and play - nonproductively.
