  • "Create memories where you couldn't have ever planned it" is the perfect quote from Helen J Shen (Maybe Happy Ending), this episode's guest on 'E-Ticket to Broadway.' On this episode Helen shares their deep love of Baymax (who in plushie-form lives with Helen) and how Disney impacted her childhood--from watching the Disney movies as a kid (big fan of "The Lion King") to going to Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line, Helen understands the gateway of Disney to Musical Theatre--specifically their reaction to "The Festival of the Lion King." Listen as Helen professors her excitement for Animal Kingdom--from the attractions like "Flight of Passage" and the "Kilimanjaro Safaris," to the "Tree of Life," to the food (Helen has been deemed "The Head of Sitting & Eating"), the way in which Helen shares her love is as good as any Disney commercial. Did we mention Helen's love of the food of the Disney Parks? Beignets, & Dole Whips, & Pickles...oh my! Helen's love of Shanghai Disneyland's "Pirates of the Carribean" and her soft spot for Carousel of Progress is also discussed, with some questions from the listeners, including which characters Helen is most excited to meet at the Disney Parks. Which attraction does Helen refuse to ride at Walt Disney World? Listen to find out!

  • Tony Nominee Liz Larsen (BEAUTIFUL, HAIRSPRAY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, STARMITES) joins David to share her love of the Disney Parks, specifically "Soarin'," "it's a small world," and the movie MULAN.
When Liz was 19 she finally got to go to Disneyland for the first time and shares her memories from that trip, including going on "it's a small world" which she describes as "life changing." Many of Liz's Disney stories revolve around family, watching the movies with them and falling more in love with the characters, and an epic trip in 2005 for five days to Walt Disney World, battling the Florida weather and two small kids (and what happened after a family meal at Cinderella Castle).
Liz's love for Disney is infectious, especially when she talks about the attractions and movies in the Disney universe that speaks to her. No "E-Ticket to Broadway" episode would be complete without mentioning Dopey, but this time it's the guest who brings up the Seven Dwarfs, specifically how she wants to be just like them when she's older.
Together Liz and David play "The Sherman Brothers' Songbook," playing trivia about music written by the magical Sherman Brothers. Which song from MULAN does this Tony Nominated-actror sing directly to the movie's lyricists' face? Listen to find out!

  • A big fan of the Disney Parks and Star Wars, Drama Desk Award-nominee Andrew Samonsky (Lempika, South Pacific, Come From Away, Bridges of Madison County) joins David to share his favorites stories and memories of going to Disney. Andrew is from California, so went to Disneyland as a kid, including a fun early birthday trip where he stayed at the Disneyland Hotel but wasn't able to sleep because he was too excited. Listen as he shares what made Disneyland magical for him as a kid, and what he finds charming as a "young at heart" when he returns to the Magic Kingdom today. Andrew and David discuss the quintessential Disneyland, and how the Anaheim park was their "true Disney." Andrew's love for the Disney Parks is contagious, especially his love of seeing Mickey Mouse in the Parks (and a fun story of seeing the Princesses), going on "Rise of the Resistance" (and his deep wish to meet Darth Vader), eating churros, and visiting "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway." Andrew explains how he and Kate Reinders (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Wicked, Gypsy, Something Rotten) ended up getting married at Walt Disney World, and how their trips to the Parks have shifted since having their wonderful kid, Luke. Not a stranger to Disney onstage, Andrew starred in the National Tour of "On The Record," a Broadway-style musical revue of the Disney musical catalogue (prompting this episode's game "On the Samonsky Record"), as well as the US premiere of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring as Phoebus. What is Andrew's favorite Disney song? Listen to this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway" to find out!

  • The one and only Vanessa Williams joins David for this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway" to share her love of all things Disney. This Tony, Emmy, & Grammy-Award Nominee explains how her connection with Disney began while she was still in the womb, and why her Disney+ avatar is Thumper. Vanessa grew up watching Disney films, especially "Bambi," and tuned in every Sunday night to watch "The Wonderful World of Disney" on TV. Like her friend David, she discusses her love of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," as well as movies from the Renaissance of Disney like "The Lion King" & "The Little Mermaid"--and just like her parents passed along their love of The Mouse, Vanessa has passed along the magic to her children, even allowing her kids to be "Disney spoiled" (she also sings Disney songs to her grandson). When it comes to the Disney Theme Parks, Vanessa is a big fan--she admits that she has always loved rides, production, and fantasy, so her trips to the Parks are incredibly special, and she wisely states: "If you get bored at Disney, something's wrong with you." An entertainment icon, Vanessa shares her experience of first being passed over by Disney, to then being valued as an artist and recording "Colors of the Wind," performing at Walt Disney World, and voicing many Disney characters. "Turning Red" is now one of Vanessa's favorite movies, and on "E-Ticket to Broadway" shares her enthusiasm for EPCOT, the food and the hotels at the Parks, and which attractions she most enjoys. David & Vanessa share a lot of laughs on this episode chatting about their mutual love of Disneyland, and together play "Save the Colors of the Wind," discuss David's casting idea of Vanessa as Snow White's Evil Queen on Broadway, and determine the track list for Vanessa's Disney Album. Which job at Walt Disney World would she most like to apply for? Listen to find out!

  • To say Broadway's Alli Mauzey (Kimberly Akimbo, Wicked, Cry-Baby, Hello Dolly) is a fan of Disneyland is a great understatement, and on this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway," she and David discuss their mutual love of the OG Theme Park. Alli's family lived on the future site of Disneyland and shares incredible stories of her family meeting Walt Disney himself, and how her mother watched Disneyland being built. Disneyland was such a huge part of Alli's childhood--from meeting her friends after school at Snow White's Grotto and swing dancing at Carnation Plaza, to watching her sister perform in 'Fantasmic,' to tasting caviar for the very first time...at Club 33. A true Disney fan, Alli credits signing along to Jodi Benson on "The Little Mermaid" soundtrack with helping her find her voice, and still feels strongly connected to her family when she visits the Park. Besides her dream of singing "Part of Your World" at Disneyland, Alli shares her love of Peter Pan's Flight, "Frozen 2," & "Bambi," and how she must always get a giant pickle on Main Street USA (and sometimes a clam chowder bread bowl). She and David discuss the magic of the Disney Theme Parks, and also the final moment in "Kimberly Akimbo" which is such a testament to the power of the Disney Parks. Before they play "Screw Loose for Disney," Alli discusses who she would most like to go to Disneyland with: Glinda from "Wicked," Lenora from "Cry-Baby," or Pattie from "Kimberly Akimbo." Which part of the staging of "Kimberly Akimbo" reminds Alli of "Pirates of the Carribean?" Listen to find out!

  • Broadway superstar Kearran Giovanni ("Catch Me if You Can," "Tarzan," TV's "Major Crimes") joins pal David to share her love of Disney and the Theme Parks! From loving the films as a kid (specifially "The Little Mermaid") to starring as Belle in her own roller-skating version of "Beauty and the Beast," Kearran's passion for the mouse runs deep. Listen as she recalls her first visits to both Walt Disney World (not until college) and Disneyland (not until she moved to LA), and how once she finally arrived at the Parks she "found her people." In fact, when she moved to LA ten years ago with her family, her plan was simple: move, settle into the new house, and then go to Disneyland. (We support.) Bringing her kids to Disney has been a treat, and Kearran shares that watching her kids right the Teacups for the first time is a core memory. It take a very dedicated Disney fan to have a specific outfit when going to the Parks, and this is true for Kearran--her Disney uniform always includes a "Little Mermaid" shirt, and when visiting the Parks she loves the Jungle Cruise, the Matterhorn, the Incredicoaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and needs a Dole Whip moment in California Adventure, and loves the popcorn, especially the different colored-popcorns in Fantasyland! Kearran has some fun stories from performing in both "The Lion King" and "Tarzan" to share (like rehearsing with Phil Collins), and plays "Kearran's Disney World" which is a series of trivia questions tied to her Broadway resume. This "Aristocats"-loving star is also a huge fan of Disney pins and all of the special memories tied to each pin, and shares some of her favorites on the episode. Warning: "What if Mickey Mouse sang 'Big Spender'?" is something that is said on this episode.

  • Tony Award-nominee and Broadway superstar Rob McClure (Beetlejuice, Mrs. Doubtfire, Avenue Q) joins David to chat all things Disney Parks on this episode of 'E-Ticket to Broadway'! Rob's love and fascination with Disney magic is incredibly sweet and genuine--listen as he shares his experience of going to Walt Disney World for the first time at age 16 and how he was immediately in awe. It was that trip that made him fall in love with the Disney Theme Parks (and also the first time he left his home state of New Jersey!). The next time Rob went was while on tour with Avenue Q and his wife Maggie, and this trip cemented his love of Main Street USA, the Country Bear Jamboree, and The Enchanted Tiki Room. Meeting the Fab Five at the Parks and seeing Tinkerbell during the Fireworks remain a core memory for Rob.
He and David go back in time to talk about Rob's early experiences with Disney--dancing and conducting to the soundtrack of "The Lion King," seeing both "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" & "Aladdin" in the movie theater, and being in awe of that voice actor who gave life to the Genie. Rob shares his love of Captain Hook, Smee, Geppetto, and Jiminy Cricket, as well as the Muppets (and tells the story of finding an amazing piece of merch he found at the Parks).
At the time of recording, Rob was just back from taking his daughter to Walt Disney World for the first time and shares some fun memories from the trip, including dinner at Beast's castle and walking through Galaxy's Edge and sobbing. He reveals a very special story about his daughter and wife having a similar reaction to a certain magical moment above Cinderella Castle.
Of the many Broadway characters he's played, which one would Rob most like to go to a Disney Park with? What job would Rob want if he became a Cast Member? How would he like to amp up Muppet representation in the Parks? All of these questions are answered on this episode, and Rob and David play "Rob McClure or Walt Disney," everyone's favorite game. #DickensianCloche

  • Christy Altomare, the star of "Anastasia," "Mamma Mia," and "Spring Awakening" joins David to share her love of the Disney Theme Parks!
Christy has held onto a wonderful photo souvenir book from her first trip to Walt Disney World which she discusses with David--specifically how she was "enthralled and excited and dancing the hip hop" as she visited Mickey Mouse's home, met Goofy (and got his autograph!), and experienced the Swiss Family Treehouse (which she loved). Christy reflects upon how magical it is to visit the Disney Parks, and shares some great insight into why musical theatre fans are also fans of the Mouse. Christy shares how she has always been a Disney kid--from watching the movies and putting on shows for her family, to having Disney Birthdays--as many of the Disney films were released around her birthday in June--which would lead to merchandise and immediately learning all of the songs around her birthday.
Now a "young at heart," Christy still holds the magic of Disney close to her heart. She is a big fan of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and especially the overlay at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion ("I definitely got through The Haunted Mansion as a kid, but I thrived at it as I got older."), and reflects upon her love of Ariel, Pocahontas, and Peter Pan's Flight. Christy shares her visit to the inside of Cinderella Castle while on tour with "Spring Awakening," and how she refers to a certain Pixar movie when teaching acting. As the "Anastasia" film is now owned by Disney, Christy and David discuss what a Fantasyland Dark Ride would look like for this Russian princess--before they play "Once Upon a Disney December" in which David asks trivia based on events in Disney history that took place in December.
To find out who Christy thinks would have the most fun at a Disney Theme Park: Anya, Wendla Bergmann, or Sophie Sheridan; or to learn more about the "Goofy Gummy Cheeseburger," listen to this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway"!

  • The wonderful Nic Rouleau, Broadway's record-setting Elder Price in The Book of Mormon, joins David on this episode to share his love of the magical world of Disney. Nic is a true Disney fan--he shares that it was the music from the Disney movies that truly was his gateway into loving the brand--and discusses how watching "The Little Mermaid," "Hercules," and, his favorite "A Goofy Movie" as a kid cemented his love for the Mouse. As a California native, Nic visited Disneyland in his youth, but when he was around 10 years old he visited Walt Disney World for the first time and it was a game-changer. He and David discuss the coincidence of playing a role on Broadway that is equally obsessed with the Orlando Park, and why the Parks are such a magical place to visit. Nic shares his experience of playing Woody from "Toy Story" on The Disney Cruise Line, a character he loved, and continues to love--and how he was introduced to Pin Trading while at sea--while also being "friends" with Prince Phillip. Listen as Nic discusses a perfect day at Walt Disney World, as well as his love for Chip & Dale, Marie from "The Aristocats," Space Mountain, "Pete's Dragon," and Expedition Everest. After Nic reveals a traumatic experience he had once at the Disneyland Resort, he and David play "Two by Two: Disney Edition," a game where David gives a clue referring to a famous pair of Disney characters, and Nic has to identify them. • Your wishes have been granted, for the one and only James Monroe Iglehart ("Aladdin," Hamilton") joins David on this 50th episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway!" James is such a genuine fan of Disney and going to the Parks--he shares that the first time he heard "The Bear Necessities" he knew he had to go to Disneyland! Listen as James discusses what it was like to grow up in the same state as the OG Magic Kingdom, and the magical journey he took to visit the Park when he was "9 or 10" with his family--meeting the characters, going on the Matterhorn, Space Mountain (a family affair), and his first time experiencing what would become his favorite attraction: The Haunted Mansion.
Like so many former "E-Ticket" guests, James explores the moment he realized that the Parks meant something truly special for him--and in doing so shares his love for the Disney films ( "Alice in Wonderland," "The Jungle Book," "Robin Hood," "Aladdin"), the characters ( Baloo, Captain Hook, Maleficent, The Muppets), and so many wonderful lines of dialogue from the catalogue. Listen as James details what he loves about Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and what his dream job at the Parks would be.
James and David chat about James' Tony Award-winning performance in "Aladdin," specifically his experience during Opening Night on Broadway, and how Robin Williams influenced his performance, and together they play "I'm Your Maitre D for Disney" where James has to determine where one can locate Disney dishes in the Parks. • Broadway's Carly Jibson ("Hairspray," "Cry-Baby") joins her childhood friend David to discuss all things Disney. This self-proclaimed mermaid shares her deep love for Ariel and "The Little Mermaid," and how the Alan Menken-era of Disney sparked her true love for musicals...and singing ballads in a bathtub. Listen as Carly recalls watching "Fantasia" as a kid, as well as some of the earlier Disney films, and pitches an idea for a True Crime Podcast surrounded the story of "Cinderella." After a brief chat about the theme park offerings in Western Michigan, Carly shares her experience of going to Walt Disney World for the first time after a terrible break up--and how her nine days in the parks truly opened her eyes to the magic (and how watching the Princess Parade led to a deep emotional reaction). After a beautiful story about going back to Walt Disney World for her first Christmas after her mother passed away, Carly shares more of her love of Disney--her deep bond with Ariel, enjoying Rice Krispies Treats, and being sure to go on Pirates of the Caribbean, the Indiana Jones Adventure, and Big Thunder Mountain. Play along with David and Carly as they play "Hairspray or Disney," and listen as these Muskegon kids share what happened to their favorite Disney figurines when they were little (spoiler alert: there was destruction). • The one and only Kara Lindsay returns to "E-Ticket to Broadway" to share more of her love for Walt Disney World as well as the magical world of Disney. This beloved star of "Newsies," "Wicked," and "Beautiful" has been a true fan of Disney ever since she was a young girl in Rochester, New York, and continues to love Belle to this very day. From watching the animated films each Christmas, to her early trips to Walt Disney World, Kara discusses how deeply Disney impacted her, and how thrilling it was to walk through Minnie Mouse's House in Toontown as a child.
During the episode she shares a lovely story about how she performed at the American Pavilion at EPCOT as a high school student with her Show Choir, and how she returned to that very same stage years later to star in the Festival of the Arts Concerts. Though still a fan of Minnie Mouse, the young-at-heart Kara reveals her love of "Flight of Passage," "Soarin'," "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster," and the Pixar films, as well as what it was like to take her son Emerson to the Parks for his very first time (and meeting Mickey!).
Of course she and David chat all things "Newsies" on this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway." Listen as Kara discusses her experience of watching the film as a kid, her exciting (and nerve-wracking) audition process for the Broadway production (including doing scenes with Jeremy Jordan), creating the role of Katherine Plumber (and mastering "Watch What Happens" in rehearsals), and realizing that Katherine is the best Disney Princess she could have ever played.
Play along with "Watch What Happens OR Watch What Happened" where David shares a Disney Theme Park event, and Kara needs to determine if that event has already happened or will happen. What's the one moment Kara wishes she could magically revisit onstage at the Nederlander during a performance of "Newsies"? Listen to find out!

  • Nik Walker (Hamilton, Ain't Too Proud) is a true Disney Parks fan, and shares everything from his favorite memories of going to the Parks, as well as his connection to the brand on this episode of "E-Ticket to Broadway." As a young boy in Boston where he would watch all of the Disney animated classics ("Disney was my babysitter") Nik discusses how he very early on was affected by the magic that was started by a Mouse. He recalls his early trips to the Parks--including a connection with Tom Sawyer's Island, a stay at the Grand Floridian, as well as his first trip on The Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland (spoiler alert: it didn't last too long)--and finding a sense of home that is incredibly welcoming, full of incredible smells and sounds. Nik reveals his strong admiration for Flight of Passage and Galaxy's Edge, and shares a funny story of explaining The Haunted Mansion to his wife on a trip they took together to the Parks. He and David discuss Land v. World, and the joy that is taking non-believers to the Disney Parks and converting them. As such a devoted member of the different fandoms that are now included in the Disney umbrella--Star Wars, Marvel, and The Muppets--David asks about Nik's favorite characters from each world, and together they play "Walt, Stan, George, or Jim," a game in which David reads a quote and Nik guesses which visionary (Walt Disney, Stan Lee, George Lucas, or Jim Henson) said it. What's on Nik Walker's Disney bucket list? Listen to find out!
