A casual conversation about cannabis compounds and the recent escalation of synthetic compounds with Dr. Steven Bennett. Dr. Bennett has been a strong technical advocate of natural products and medicines. He discusses how he became an advocate because of his academic curiosity and then filling the gaps needed in Colorado. Dr. Bennett has joined me on many panels at cannabis forums. He is currently working at his company Prescott Scientific in Chicago.

Dr. John MacKay develops a way to visualize the volatility of the terpenes compared to the cannabinoids using simple things you probably ready have in the house. You might have to purchase another pen at a local store and use or borrow one. He uses the same materials to demonstrate decarboxylation by heat.

Another solventless extraction system for cannabis processing. I was able to catch up with Rachel and Steve Sherwood to talk about the Loxley Systems. The system could do a minimum of 750 lbs and up to 100,000 lbs per day. They will discuss how they pivoted to smaller models that can be used on the benchtop and in batch and continuous mode. How they came into the business is fascinating to me, and the five years of development to May 2022.

Josh Rutherford is the co-founder of Pure Pressure, the provider of innovative products for solventless extraction. He was recently named the VP of Corporate Development of Agrify, Inc. We will discuss the increasing interest in solventless extraction of cannabis. After graduating from the University of Colorada, Boulder, Josh applied his understanding to co-found Pure Pressure to develop a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) of a possible system that caught the attention of other like-minded people. He’ll talk about the humble beginning to the acquisition by Agrify has been an incredible journey.

A lively conversation with Mr. Eric Kawka, Founder of Cattis Science in Hardwick, Vermont, about the future of plants with potential medicinal activity. Eric discusses SFX technology from extraction, purification, particle formation, and anti-solvent with supercritical carbon dioxide and co-solvents. From simple extraction to in-line decolorization to chiral separation of the four enantiomers of THC and CBD.
