Vedas are the most ancient religious scriptures of Hinduism. They are A-purusheya, which means they have not been created by any Human. These Vedas appeared in front of our sages, and they, compiled them.
As we all know, there are a total of four Vedas, namely, Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda.
But, initially there were only three Vedas. Atharvaveda was not a part of this set. It, afterwards, got included into the list. But how did that happen? Well, our Puranas include an interesting story, about Atharvaveda’s inclusion, into the four Vedas.

Those who are familiar with Hindu mythology know that each and every god has a particular vehicle in the form of an animal or a bird to travel from one place to another.
For example, the vehicle of lord Ganesha is a mouse, Vishnu’s vehicle is Garuda and so on. Similarly, Indra, the king of all the gods, has a vehicle named Airavata and he is an elephant.
Airavata features in multiple mythological texts and is at the center of the story, as far as the famous churning of the ocean is concerned.
