Thursday Night Football showcased two head coaches who are making a major impact on their teams with playoff berths very likely in grasp. With Jim Harbaugh in his first year back in the league at the helm of the Los Angeles Chargers and Sean Payton in his second year leading the Denver Broncos, both are proving to be difference-makers this season for their teams.
Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab talk about why both are proving that the head coaching position in football is so critical to a team’s success, the reason so many teams seem to get that hire wrong and the smart thinking from Jim Harbaugh to finally get a chance to run one of his favorite plays he’s never gotten a chance to attempt in the NFL in a Thursday night win over Denver.
Also on this episode of Inside Coverage, the guys discuss the report about New York Jets owner Woody Johnson nixing a trade involving Jerry Jeudy due to the player’s rating in the Madden football video game and why fans have a reason to be frustrated with owners who repeatedly make bad decisions. They then discuss where Kirk Cousins might play in 2025 and if Sam Darnold is a serious option for the San Francisco 49ers next season.

(7:04) - LAC defeats DEN on TNF
(12:21) - Complications in getting the head coach hire right
(25:28) - Jets nix Jeudy trade over Madden rating

In this week’s episode of Inside Coverage, Frank Schwab and Jori Epstein deep dive into the Atlanta Falcons' decision to bench veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr. Jori, though not shocked by Penix's start, is taken aback by the team's decision to market it as a permanent change. The duo discusses what we can expect from Penix in his first NFL action and debates whether Cousins, struggling after his Achilles injury, will find a starting role next season (plus some potential landing spots that make sense). In other news, Jori heads to Philly this week to examine the Philadelphia Eagles’ impressive defense, highlighted by the rise of linebacker Zach Baun, who’s making a name for himself after an offseason transformation.
Later in the episode, the conversation shifts to a common theme in the NFL: process vs. results. Frank and Jori analyze some key quarterback decisions by process alone: Deshaun Watson’s rumored return next year and Anthony Richardson’s stagnant development in Indianapolis. Jori and Frank analyze the Indianapolis Colts' decision-making process in drafting Richardson and whether it was a case of bad process or just bad luck. They also discuss the potential of Deshaun Watson bouncing back in Cleveland, reflecting on the Browns' investment and whether his struggles were a product of poor decision-making or something more complex. Frank and Jori also break down the Dallas Cowboys' hot streak and whether head coach Mike McCarthy’s job is safe after recent wins.
The episode closes with a discussion on Frank's NFL power rankings, with Frank placing the Eagles at the top and Jori arguing for the Buffalo Bills at number one, and the hosts' picks for Thursday Night Football as the Denver Broncos head to Southern California to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.

In this week's episode of Inside Coverage, Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab give their instant reactions and takeaways from Week 15 of NFL action. The guys kick things off discussing the polarization in the league this year, with a massive gap between the top-tier teams and those struggling at the bottom. The conversation shifts to what turned out to be the game of the week: Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions. Fitz and Frank are in awe of Josh Allen’s incredible rise to MVP-caliber play. Frank lists the few quarterbacks in NFL history who have played at Allen’s current level, comparing him to the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. But as impressive as the Bills are, the Lions defense is starting to show cracks. Can Dan Campbell’s squad continue to ride high with a shaky defense, or will this expose them in the postseason? Fitz is convinced that the Bills are now the team to beat in the AFC, even if that means taking down the mighty Kansas City Chiefs.
Fitz & Frank also highlight the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive struggles against the dominant Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers rolling on primetime against the Seattle Seahawks.
Later, the duo cover every other matchup from Sunday's slate of games. Fitz is particularly concerned with Tua Tagovailoa’s erratic play, while Frank gives props to Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams showing their connection is still very much alive. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stun the Los Angeles Chargers, with Baker Mayfield leading the charge, and Mike McCarthy is quietly earning his job back in Dallas. The duo wrap up with predictions for the Monday Night Football double header.

In today’s Inside Coverage, Jason Fitz, Charles Robinson, and Frank Schwab dive into a wild NFL week filled with coaching rumors, locker room tension and playoff implications. They kick things off with a trending former head coach, Bill Belichick, and whether he’s on the verge of a surprising jump to college football with the University of North Carolina. Is Belichick ready to trade in the NFL grind for a new challenge, and what does the rumored succession plan involving son Steve Belichick really mean for his future?
The discussion heats up as Charles and Frank debate the potential of Mike Vrabel as the next head coach for the Chicago Bears. Charles offers insight into how the Bears might be targeting a strong leader to pair with an upstart offensive mind, but Frank raises concerns about the impact on quarterback Caleb Williams. Meanwhile, the trio tackles the growing tension in the Philadelphia Eagles’ locker room, sparked by AJ Brown’s comments about the offense. Despite the team’s impressive 11-2 record, there’s talk of internal unrest, with some questioning quarterback Jalen Hurts. The crew breaks down how and why Hurts’ leadership continues to be scrutinized.
Finally, the guys wrap up with a look at the Kansas City Chiefs, who are somehow managing to be the worst 12-1 team in NFL history due to a number of lucky breaks. Can Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid keep their Super Bowl hopes alive with such a precarious record? Plus, the trio previews Thursday Night Football, where Frank and Charles favor the San Francisco 49ers to defeat the Los Angeles Rams, but Fitz throws in a bold pick for the Rams.

In this week's Inside Coverage, Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab react to every game from the Week 14 NFL Sunday slate. Fitz and Frank start with some of the more interesting outcomes, including the Kansas City Chiefs escaping with a close win on Sunday night and the Buffalo Bills' stunning loss to the Los Angeles Rams, as Josh Allen’s historic fantasy performance wasn’t enough to save them. The Minnesota Vikings beat the Atlanta Falcons, as Sam Darnold continues to shine while Kirk Cousins struggles, leading Frank to wonder about Minnesota’s offseason plans. Over in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks asserted themselves as the best team in the NFC West, dominating the Arizona Cardinals, with Frank predicting they’ll win the division.
Later, Fitz & Frank dive into the rest of the Sunday slate. In Tennessee, the Jaguars handed the Titans another blowout loss, leaving Frank wondering if it’s time for a major rebuild. The Las Vegas Raiders’ nightmare season continued with a cheap shot injury to Aidan O’Connell, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers seized control of the NFC South. Are the San Francisco 49ers still alive in the NFC playoff race? Dan Campbell’s bold play calling earns the Detroit Lions a win against the Green Bay Packers in a Thursday Night Football thriller. Jason Fitz & Charles Robinson break down the game and explain just how demoralizing it is for opposing defenses when teams like the Lions continuously go for it on 4th down.
C Rob ranks both the current and likely head coach openings in the NFL based solely on the team’s QB situation. While it’s not surprising that a team like the New York Jets with an aging Aaron Rodgers is ranked worst, C Rob’s evaluation of the Dallas Cowboys with Dak Prescott might surprise you. Plus, are the Las Vegas Raiders actually a decent landing spot for a new head coach despite Gardner Minshew’s poor play?

Jason Fitz and Frank Schwab break down the biggest matchups from Week 13 of NFL action, as they give their thoughts on the three biggest games from Sunday, parse through the leftovers from the Thanksgiving games and give instant takeaways for every game from the Week 13 Sunday slate.
The Philadelphia Eagles solidified their Super Bowl contender status with a dominant second-half performance against the Baltimore Ravens. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are now 8-0 since their bye, and Frank and Fitz both agree that Philly has a case to be considered the NFC favorite. Despite a strong effort from Lamar Jackson, the Ravens continue to struggle, particularly with kicker Justin Tucker’s recent struggles, which could haunt them come playoff time.
The Pittsburgh Steelers impress with their versatility, winning both low-scoring slugfests and high-scoring shootouts. Fitz and Frank praise Mike Tomlin’s coaching job, though they note some concerns, particularly with George Pickens' recent struggles. The Cincinnati Bengals, meanwhile, continue to disappoint, with Frank calling their defense a major liability despite Joe Burrow’s MVP-level play.
In the "Leftovers" segment, the guys discuss the Thanksgiving games, including the struggles of the Chicago Bears, an unremarkable Dallas Cowboys win and the Green Bay Packers turning in their best performance of the season. The Kansas City Chiefs continue to win ugly, but Fitz remains skeptical about their long-term prospects.
Fitz & Frank move on to the rest of the Sunday slate, including Bryce Young’s development, one of the dirtiest hits of the last few years, Drake Maye vs. Anthony Richardson and much more. The duo finish up with their predictions for Monday night's matchup between the Cleveland Browns & Denver Broncos.

Jason Fitz, Jori Epstein & Frank Schwab discuss the ongoing running back renaissance in the NFL and whether it’s time to reconsider how running backs are valued before diving into the latest quarterback news and previewing the Thanksgiving games. With Saquon Barkley making an MVP case, the episode starts with the evolving role of running backs like Barkley and Derrick Henry in today’s game, and whether teams should invest heavily in top-tier backs. The hosts explore the trend of successful RB moves this season and whether we should expect that trend to continue. The three hosts also cover the NFL salary cap, debating whether it still holds the same power it once did. Jori breaks down the cap’s impact on team-building and whether teams should focus more on probabilistic outcomes when making financial decisions, rather than strictly adhering to cap constraints.
Daniel Jones made headlines by reportedly signing with the Minnesota Vikings during the podcast, and the hosts react to the move and analyze why this move makes sense for both Jones and the Vikings. They highlight the potential for Jones to thrive under head coach Kevin O'Connell and for the Vikings to get a bridge quarterback to mentor J.J. McCarthy.
In other quarterback news, Bryce Young nearly took down the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend, and the trio break down what the driving factor for Young's improvement is. Was it the benching, and will his good play continue down the stretch?
Later, Frank breaks down his latest power rankings and what led to the Philadelphia Eagles jumping the Chiefs for the #2 spot.
Finally, the hosts preview the Thanksgiving Day matchups, including the Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions, the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers. They discuss the key storylines and make their predictions for each game, along with some questionable Thanksgiving food comparisons.
(1:00) Is the NFL entering a running back renaissance?
(25:20) Daniel Jones signs with the Vikings
(32:00) Bryce Young's recent development

After relegating him to QB4, the New York Giants officially release Daniel Jones. Jason Fitz & Frank Schwab ask what went wrong in the ‘Daniel Jones era’ and look ahead to where he might be able to still land on his feet elsewhere in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-19 in the snow during Thursday Night Football. The Steelers showed they might not be the postseason contenders we imagined in this game where their offensive star George Pickens was almost nowhere to be seen. All the Browns' problems seem to lie with their quarterback, but would getting a new QB in the 2025 NFL Draft truly get them back to winning ways?
Fitz, Frank, and Charles look ahead to next season for Aaron Rodgers. If he’s not retired or with the New York Jets, where could the veteran QB realistically go? Plus, the trio look at two other QB contracts worth keeping an eye on in the second half of the season with Brock Purdy’s new deal with the San Francisco 49ers and if the Steelers will extend Russell Wilson.
The three then ask which teams they really, truly trust to win either the AFC or NFC. Can the Steelers be trusted to win the AFC after a loss to a Browns team with nothing to lose? And is there anyone in the NFC who can threaten the Detroit Lions?(0:26) Giants release Daniel Jones

Jason Fitz is joined by Jori Epstein and Frank Schwab to go behind the scenes on the latest news and storylines from around the NFL. The New York Jets fired their general manager Joe Douglas, which leads to a conversation about the future of the Jets and whether the complicated late-career saga of Aaron Rodgers is truly coming to an end after this season. In other New York quarterback news, the Giants benched QB Daniel Jones and are planning to start Tommy DeVito with Head Coach Brian Daboll's job potentially on the line. Is desperately trying to win games really in the best interest of the 2024 New York Giants?
Later, Jori delves into her latest reporting around Chicago Bears OC Thomas Brown and the changes he's made to build around rookie QB Caleb Williams, and how Brown's focus on creating a simpler ecosystem for Williams is already showing on the field. Frank has officially launched the Mike Tomlin for Coach of the Year campaign, and he argues why Tomlin is having his best ever year leading the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The hosts wrap up with Frank's latest controversial power rankings – as Frank attempts to defend keeping the Kansas City Chiefs above the Buffalo Bills despite the outcome of Sunday's head-to-head matchup – and predictions for Thursday night's matchup between the Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.

The Dallas Cowboys have problems but Deion Sanders is not the answer. Jason Fitz, Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab look at what a path to fixing the Dallas Cowboys would really look like. While a Deion and Shedeur Sanders combo might not work for Dallas, are there any other NFL franchises that should consider the father + son duo?
But first, the trio recaps the Thursday Night Football game which saw the Philadelphia Eagles come out on top of the Washington Commanders. Despite having a solid roster and 8 wins, the Eagles have slipped from the NFC title conversation. What made us forget about the Eagles up until Thursday night?

Jason Fitz, Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab break down the Baltimore Ravens 35-34 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night. Joe Burrow & Ja’Maar Chase put up huge numbers, but it wasn’t enough to get past an MVP-like Lamar Jackson and a Ravens team that just might be in the best position to make it to the Super Bowl than they ever have been.
The trio share which quarterbacks won and lost at the trade deadline earlier this week. For Jared Goff it’s a win, as the Lions grabbed a defensive piece in Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns to aid in their Super Bowl pursuit. Meanwhile Dak Prescott & Deshaun Watson are trade deadline losers as the Browns parted with Amari Cooper and the Cowboys seemingly settled for Jonathan Mingo.
Fitz, C Rob & Frank give out some midseason QB awards such as their QB MVP, biggest surprise QB of the season (both good and bad) and the biggest QB disappointment.
(1:35) Cincinnati @ Baltimore recap
(26:28) Trade deadline QB winners
(36:11) Trade deadline QB losers
(48:46) Midseason QB awards

Jason Fitz is joined by Jori Epstein and Frank Schwab to dive into the NFL trade deadline and determine the biggest winners and losers from Tuesday before going behind the scenes on Frank's latest NFL power rankings and giving their predictions ahead of the Thursday night AFC North showdown.
The trio start with the winners and losers of the NFL trade deadline, as Frank and Jori disagree on which category the New Orleans Saints fall into. The hosts also cover the Washington Commanders, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions.

Jori breaks down why Jerry Jones made the move and how the Dak Prescott injury is factoring into the Cowboys' plans for 2024 and beyond.
Frank's latest power rankings are up, and they have a new top team. The hosts discuss the Lions taking the #1 slot, as well as the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before giving their predictions for the Thursday night game featuring the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
