  • I am a feminist and I feel that we all should be feminists. If you didn’t know, feminism doesn’t mean female superiority. It means equity and equality for women. And yes it’s still very much relevant because women are nowhere equal to men whether at workplaces or at homes. Talking about feminism is very important to me and this episode is all about it.

I’m speaking with Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi who is an accomplished author besides being an endocrinologist. I read her book The School for Bad Girls and was shocked by how little we know about women’s condition in previous centuries. Even more shocking was the fact that a lot of things are still the same for us. Women have progressed but the men and society as a whole hasn’t progressed as much. Madhurima’s book is about one of India’s first doctors Dr. Kadambini Ganguly but it’s way more than a story.

In the episode, author Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi and I talk about feminism, marriage, men’s role in society, patriarchy, life and a few things we can do to create a society of equals. We discuss both history and the current scenario. Lots to think about and even more to take away, so join us.

Please spread the message of feminism by sharing this episode with your friends and family.

  • Fat, thin, dark, light, big nose, small eyes, thin lips, flat chest- there are tons of ways to describe a body and these terms form our body image. Most of us have the tendency to criticize our bodies. I too am guilty of this and am struggling with a poor body image even today.

Our families and society have passed on this body image to us and we are transferring it to our kids without being fully aware of it.

To add to this, kids these days are exposed to way too many images through social media and other platforms. Even though there are discussions around inclusivity and body neutrality, the perfect 10 figure is still the ideal.

Besides this, a child suffering from hair and skin issues, health problems or disability is still sniggered at. We don’t realize their struggles and have no idea what they are feeling every day.

We have to look beyond the body and so when I came across the book Hug Yourself curated by Vinitha, I instantly decided to have her on the podcast. Vinitha has written over 25 books tailored for children and young adults.

Her book Hug Yourself has Body Positivity and Empowerment Stories for Teenagers. It’s A Powerful Anthology of 16 Stories Featuring Prominent Writers Like Anuja Chandramouli, Harshikaa Udasi and Santhini Govindan among Others. In my view, Everyone needs to read this book from teenagers to adults of all ages.

In this episode we talk about-

    - Vinitha’s observations on today’s teens and body image

    - Her and my struggles with body image

    - How have things changed from when Vinitha was young to now

    - What can be done to make things better

    - How we parents can help kids in building a positive body image

  • Too old, too young, not good enough, too good for this- we have many such notions but thankfully people are talking about these limiting beliefs and we are seeing inspiring stories of people doing things in their own time at their own pace. I have one such inspiring woman’s story for you. Namrata Lodha launched Myaraa hats at the age of 52. It was her first venture and this entrepreneurship journey started in a living room. The idea was to (re)introduce the concept of hats as an accessory but with a unique design element in it.

Inspired by the natural grass fiber baskets from her childhood home in Madhya Pradesh, Namrata designs these accessories with the same material. This production empowers rural women whose families abandoned them for marrying outside their community or being a widow. The company makes work accessible in rural India for these women making sure that when you buy a sunny hat it comes bundled with the social and financial empowerment of a woman.

This is a story of breaking norms and also of family support and giving back to society. Listen in to get inspired and share it with your friends.

Even the mention of child sexual abuse scares us parents and so we are always looking for ways to educate our kids about it and related topics like consent and boundaries.

Besides being a sexual health educator, Anuja holds the degree of Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Nottingham and has done her post graduation in Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics.

-body literacy- when to start, what to tell because ‘good touch-bad touch’ isn’t the best way

-what to do if something happens

-Creating a safer environment for kids

  • I have been working from home since 2014 and have realised that it's both a boon and a bane. As a freelancer, I can decide my own schedule which gives me flexibility but this same ease becomes a problem too. I am sure most freelancers, especially women would agree with me. Even the people around us don’t take work from home as seriously especially if you are not working for a multinational. In homes where both husband and wife work from home, the wife is expected to take up more household responsibilities which is necessarily unpaid work. This episode is not a box of complaints but rather a discussion about work from home and how to make it fairer to women. My guest is Neha J Hiranandani.

Neha has spent the last two decades working on development issues, with a focus on gender equity in various organisations including the United Nations. Neha’s columns on social and economic issues have appeared in several prominent publications like Indian Express, Huffington Post, NDTV and Vogue. Her first book, Girl Power! Indian Women Who Broke the Rules, was a national bestseller and her latest book is The Padmas which has garnered a lot of attention and love as it features 50 men and women who have been awarded The Padma awards for their invaluable contribution.

Let’s talk about the pros and cons of working from home, self-care, guilt and so much more. Please help me bring more such conversations to you by sharing this episode with your friends- just copy the link and send over whatsapp, email or a simple text message.

  • I like to think of myself as an open minded parent who doesn’t push her daughter for anything but guess what I realised when I was researching for this episode? I realised that I sometimes force her without being aware of it and sometimes I am too lenient. This conversation helped me find a balance. I am speaking with author Arti Sonthalia.

She has a bunch of books, Big Bully and M-me (which was nominated for the Crystal Kite Asia Awards) Hungry To Read, Best Friends Forever (won the FICCI book of the year award 2020) Hungry To Play (shortlisted for the Neev Awards 2020), Read Write Race and Mehar’s World of Colours which is about letting the kids be.

Arti herself is an entrepreneur turned author. This episode is an open discussion between two parents about raising kids. I learnt from talking to Arti and you’ll also have some aha moments.

Whether you believe in these concepts or not, do listen to this episode to get an understanding of how energies work.

  • Access to mental health care is a privilege. If you can access therapy, support groups, medication, please help yourself and others.

Not everyone understands the importance of mental health care, even fewer people think that they need it and way fewer can access it. I wish I could do something about it but till I figure out a way, I’ll keep working on myself and telling people around me about its importance.

Working on our mental health is a necessity so on this World Mental Health Day, I am talking about my experiences in working on improving my mental health. I share how I discovered the importance of mental health and the steps I took to improve it. I talk about my experiences of being in therapy and what I learnt. Also sharing my favourite mindfulness/self-care practices and goals for my mental health.

It’s a light hearted, chatty episode full of authenticity so join in and let’s work on our mental wellbeing.

  • I am a multi-passionate person- I like writing, my social media work and obviously podcasting. Some people might say that I have a problem with decision making in terms of my career but why do I have to be just one thing?

I like doing different things and I have the opportunity so I keep trying. This episode’s guest is also like that- she is a doctor and a painter. Dr. Sushma Mahajan has been working as the Head of Radiology at Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital in Jaipur. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she found her calling as a watercolour artist. Sushma is a natural talent who discovered her passion for art during the lockdown and has become a commercial success.

Over the years, Dr. Sushma Mahajan has honed her craft and has held a number of successful exhibitions. Her eclectic artworks adorn the prestigious households of renowned people like Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur and several suites at the Taj Hotels.

Dr. Sushma will share her journey as a doctor and a painter. We talk about the importance of family’ support and how as women we need to hold our own and do things that make us happy. • When I think about my daughter’s future, I also worry about whether she’ll have access to necessities like clean water, clean air, fresh foods in the upcoming years. These worries can be categorised as eco anxiety and probably you also have such thoughts. The question is what we can do for a sustainable earth for our kids.

Did you know that anxieties related to the environment are more common in women? Or that there are many other ways by which environmental change impacts women’s mental health disproportionately? Do you want to know how? And how we can be a little kinder to earth everyday?

All this is discussed in today’s episode with Bhagyashree Jain, the founder of The Disposal Company. She was named in the coveted Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list of 2024 for her pioneering work in introducing Plastic Neutrality in India and creating sustainability solutions.

Bhagyashre’s venture is helping brands become plastic neutral. The Disposal Company helps companies offset plastic they have created and used by recovering or removing an equivalent amount from the environment and recycling it.

All these insights are available to you for free so I am giving you the responsibility of spreading word about the podcast. Rate, review and share it with your family and friends. Thank you.

  • I see a lot of stereotypes around Love and Arranged marriages and with this episode I am attempting to break them by sharing snippets of my life after ‘happily ever after’. I also talk about why I wanted to get married, my upbringing, conditioning, fights with my husband and about motherhood.

Husband-Wife relationship is probably the most important for both the spouses involved and if you find the right person, work-life balance, parenting, homemaking and your personal growth become a little easy.

I see changing equations in modern families that benefit both the partners and also arrangements that are no good for anyone. This episode is an attempt to spread the message about healthy relationships in marriages. Let’s Talk.

  • I am a millennial parent raising a gen alpha. We might have adapted to the internet but not all of us fully understand how fast the digital world is changing and what dangers it might carry especially for our kids.

Yes, the internet has many many benefits but has its dark side too. I have stopped sharing my daughter’s pictures online and wonder about the right age to give her a phone and about educating her regarding internet’s threats.

Even connecting and communicating with this generation requires a very different approach as they are born in a completely digital world and have sharp minds.

If you also wonder about your kids' safety in the digital world, if you want to know what to do if your or your kids’ pictures are used wrongly then this episode is for you. We also talk about screen time management, cyberbullying prevention, social media for kids and internet safety for kids because protecting kids online is the need of the hour.

I am speaking with cyberpsychologist Nirali Bhatia. Nirali is an accomplished Consulting Psychologist and Psychotherapist, with over two decades of experience in web technology. Her area of expertise lies in Cyberpsychology where she studies the impact of technology on human behaviour and mind. She heads V4Web Technologies Pvt. Ltd, a tech company that specializes in developing secure applications with the best user experience. Nirali is also a director at V4WEB Cybersecurity, a top 20 trusted company in the cybersecurity domain in India.

Nirali Bhatia is the founder of Cyber B.A.A.P., an anti-cyberbullying organization providing guidance, counselling, and reporting assistance to victims of cyberbullying. Her extensive experience and knowledge have led her to be a guest speaker and panelist for organizations such as UN Women and UNICEF. She has also been invited to participate in panel debates on various news channels and cybersecurity conferences.

We had a very open talk but please understand that the purpose is not to judge you but to educate you so please listen with an open mind.

  • One thing that definitely comes with marriage is added responsibilities. After marriage both the partners are not only responsible for themselves but also for each other and even for each other’s families to different extents. And if you add parenthood to the equation, things get trickier and overwhelming.

While managing responsibilities, we tend to forget ourselves. With so much clutter in our heads, it’s easy to follow what you see around you because you have no mental space to think for yourself. Then comes the fear of judgement, need for validation and we start feeling stuck.

We might even feel numb towards our daily lives. We want to take action to do something different but we feel the lack of time and energy. But do you know it’s possible to bring back that feeling of joy in life with Mind Decluttering? It’s possible to get unstuck, get mental clarity and have time to think clearly.

And Shikha Pandey is here to guide us. As a Mindfulness Mindset Coach, Shikha enables professionals seeking work life balance to create their unique balanced life by living mindfully. She enables them to build in daily awareness which reflects in the choice of micro habits that compound overtime to build mental toughness and resilience.

Let’s dissect stuck-ness, mental clutter and come out with a clearer head at the end of this episode. We have stress management and self-care tips that you can use.

  • Wouldn’t it be great if our hobbies became our job? Yes, entrepreneurship isn’t fun all the time but it’ll be exciting if we monetize a hobby. Maybe you are good at crochet or make fabulous watercolour paintings and you want to share your gifts with the world but you also feel that art is precious or it’s difficult to make money with art.

  • When I was working with my life coach back in 2022, he told me that I have a fixed mindset and I have been working on it ever since. Many people are talking about developing a growth mindset in adults but very few are sharing about how to change our kids’ mindsets. Kids are born with a growth mindset but our upbringing takes them to the fixed side. Let’s understand- what’s growth mindset, why is it essential for everyone, how can we and our kids become growth minded

I’m speaking with psycho-socio-spiritual counselor Pooja Oswal. Her work includes parenting and life coaching, breathwork, PLR therapy, and mindset training. Pooja helps people unlock their full potential, combining Western and Eastern psychology principles focusing on Breath awareness, Harmonious relationships, non-violent communication, and embracing a growth mindset. In a Career spanning over 6 yrs She has worked with more than 1500 children and transformed lives of more than 100 Individuals.

So get ready to understand a little bit of child psychology and get Practical Parenting Tips for your child’s holistic development.
