This is one of the most vulnerable and honest mamas I’ve ever met. From her two natural births after a pregnancy of utilizing cannabis for all the things (morning sickness, swelling, sleep, and connection) and fast forward to now, a single mama, an entrepreneur who has it super dialed in. We talk about mindfulness use of cannabis, what that means, and how to do it too.
She is also a skincare specialist and we talk about how to incorporate cannabis into your skincare routine for more of a self care experience and for enhancing results, what works and what you should look for. Most importantly how to use cannabis as a way to connect with your kids, listen to your body and channeling cannabis for creativity or productivity.

Now that cannabis is legal in some states medically or recreationally, there are things that my guest Courtney Davis and the team at Marijuana Matters work hard in the background to create equity in the cannabis industry and repair the harms caused by the war on drugs.
Courtney Davis is Executive Director of Marijuana Matters, a social enterprise that works to identify and eliminate barriers to economic opportunity in regulated cannabis markets for those disadvantaged by marijuana’s criminalization. She recently served as the Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations where she led community and government outreach efforts to advance equitable and inclusive cannabis policies and regulations.
Courtney discusses her personal experience with cannabis, including using it to treat insomnia and her preferred methods of consumption. She also talks about the work she does to support veterans and the future of the cannabis industry, including the opportunities it presents and the challenges it faces.
We discuss ways to support the equality efforts just in the products we consume and we discuss our optimism for our kids to grow up in an environment where cannabis is looked at as medicine.

LaWann didn’t use cannabis to heal from her trauma. It’s how she used it during and after that allowed her to see what a crutch it could be AND how it can be used for her overall health and wellness. She’s incredible. From her insight, sense of self and confidence to how she reached out for help is true example of what hard work and vulnerability can do for trauma.
Her journey is inspiring. From homeless at 17, a young mom, she put on her supersuit and got to work chasing her dreams and caring for her child. Finding cannabis, leaving cannabis, and finding it again, and she now has countless awards confirming her craft in baking. People love her treats!
Her story is the definition of overcoming her own darkness and helping others find their light too. She talks about self love, asking for help as a mama, and shares with us how we can start to heal from our traumas. THIS episode right here is Mama Chill Club. It’s two mamas coming together, talking about where we are at in motherhood, sharing tips and finding community through the chaos. How fun and tough motherhood is and how we utilize cannabis for calming, creativity, and not a bandaid to just get through the day.
Betty is so many things. She’s relatable, she’s the epitome of caring, she has a heart of gold. Her journey begins being opposed to cannabis becaue “I’m a mom, I can’t buy weed” to passionate budtender with a passion for helping anyone that comes through the dispensary door.
We demystify the process of going to a dispensary (where you purchase cannabis) to what questions to ask, how to utilize the budtenders (the hospitality you are purchasing cannabis from) and why the whole experience is not intimidating at all. All our nerves and fears around buying weed are invalid, because you are walking into a group of people that found healing or coping and want to help you heal and cope too!
Budtenders are a wealth of knowledge for so many reasons. From the trainings they take, the passion they have for something that has changed their own life, and its really one of the only places you can go to that all the employees are trying the products, you get reviews and recommendations right from the source! There’s a ton of products, products to use the product and it can be overwhelming, if you go in and be honest about where you are, they can meet you where you’re at.
We cover a ton in this episode, and you will walk away from this episode with so much confidence to approach your first time in a dispensary or continue to deepen your knowledge of yourself and your body to find what works best for you! Because that’s what it’s all about, not something to avoid pain or problems, its medicine that can help you work through or find relief to get better.
Enjoy!
