  • Lauren Segalla was a Labor & Delivery nurse until one day she had an epiphany after going through the motions of her job numbly on autopilot during the immediate aftermath of fetal demise of a patient. After that wake up call, she knew she was destined for something different; something bigger.

Today, Lauren is an expert in guiding women through feeling more in touch with their bodies, literally. As a result, the women Lauren works with not only maximize the relationship with themselves and their partners but also how they move through the birth portal.

  • Hello, friends! We’re back just the two of us like old times.

Kat kicks off this episode reflecting on how wildly different her first birth with her son was compared to her redemptive, sovereign homebirth outside the medical industrial complex with her daughter just 26 months later.

Kat’s initiation into motherhood in 2022 involved bait-and-switches, homebirth medwifery sabotage, and an unhealthy fixation on blood pressure resulting in fear mongering, a distrust and pathology of birth, an unnecessary hospital transfer, false pre-eclampsia diagnosis, and ultimately a c-section.

Fast forward 17 months when Kat discovered she was pregnant with her second baby after just the first try (thanks Anisa Woodall!)

Kat recounts her journey from deprogramming and unlearning everything she thought she ever knew about birth, to becoming fully embodied, taking radical responsibility for her birth choices, and completely surrendering to and trusting every step of the process.

All of this laid the groundwork for having a mother-led, intuitive, homebirth in the absence of any licensed provider in favor of the unconditional support of her husband and radical birthkeeper Ali. NO cervical checks, membrane sweeps, inductions, doing anything to “get labor going,” ultrasounds, Doppler, suggestions or threats of a hospital transfer, coached pushing, or management of the third stage of labor.

Kat also discusses the process of obtaining a birth certificate when you choose to give birth outside of the system (if that's the route you wish to take) and answers questions you posed about the birth on Instagram.

  • Morgan a.k.a. @VeryCrunchyMama unveils some hard truths about the correlations between the consumption of artificial food dyes— which are sadly ubiquitous and hidden in foods you would never suspect— and children's behavior and chronic disease.

We discuss the deceptive name changes that recently went into effect with these toxic dyes as well as what each of us would do in a scenario where our children were offered food dyes.

Towards the end, Morgan differentiates between "cleanwashing" vs. "greenwashing" and how to keep it simple when it comes to transitioning away from toxic household chemicals and into a lifestyle abundant in minimalism and holistic health.

She is the founder of the Fertility Awareness Mastery Mentorship program. She is the author of three bestselling books: Real Food For Fertility (co-authored with Lily Nichols), The Fifth Vital Sign, and the Fertility Awareness Mastery Charting Workbook.

    In this episode we discuss:

Why the non-hormonal IUD really isn't so benign despite some women preferring this birth control method. The science behind how cervical fluid is a powerful indicator of your overall health and cervical cell healthThe mechanics of how ovulation works from estrogen levels, LH and follicle ripenessWhy the feminist movement's programming that men and women should be equal in every respect has backfired specifically as it relates to how we move through life during the different phases in our cycle and throughout the feminine cycles of our lifetime (menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause). Why reliance on cycle tracking apps alone as a way to plan or prevent pregnancy is not sufficient and what the best marker of fertility actually is.What is common vs. what is normal in regard to ovulation and our menstrual cyclesWhy sperm counts have been on the decline since the 1940s and by how muchThe specific role men play in the fertility equation and just how much agency both men and women have in regard to ameliorating their fertility outcomes through lifestyle choicesConsiderations to ponder in regard to IVF

  • Since we have yet to unravel the profound topic of pregnancy loss, particularly from a sovereign woman's perspective, we invite you to witness Alex's moving story of the loss of her daughter Lila in the moments after birth.

Alex chose to experience a wild pregnancy— a pregnancy outside the obstetric industrial complex, devoid of ultrasounds, blood work, measuring, tracking, and testing— and despite the emotional suffering she endured as a result of her tragic loss, she explains why she would not hesitate to proceed with another wild pregnancy and freebirth the second time around.

We discuss themes such as the fine line between birth and death, how nobody and no technology can "save" us, the way our society views miscarriage and stillbirth in the hospital vs. at home, setting boundaries with well-meaning yet fearful friends and family, and we hear Alex's theory on the likely cause of death of her sweet baby girl.

Follow Alex on instagram and DM her to join her virtual loss support group.

  • Most holistic-minded moms already know screen time is objectively bad and try to limit it or only rely on it as a brief, last-resort. But, just how bad is it really?

Melanie Hempe, mother of four and the founder of the non-profit ScreenStrong, keeps it 100% real with us when divulging the truth about the way screen time is robbing our children of a healthy and happy childhood.

What effects do interacting with a device have whether it’s a tablet, iPhone, or television on a child’s developing brain, and why should parents think twice about when and whether to introduce screens to their children? Is there such a thing as “good” types of screen time or screens in moderation? What about low-stimulating shows for short periods of time?

We of course also had to discuss the alarming, modern phenomenon of children glued to iPads while out at restaurants.

In our tech-obsessed society, is it even realistic to expect parents to forego screens for their children such as refusing to give children smartphones for the first 18 years of life?

  • Kristen is a former NICU nurse of nearly a decade who saw some things she cannot unsee. Her great awakening transpired during the COVID madness, and she does not hold back when we ask her what she witnessed behind the scenes in the NICU and in the hospital setting as a whole, as well as what she bravely endured with her very own children.

Kristen walks us through the vaccine injuries she witnessed amongst her three children, and what she wishes she knew as a former NICU nurse prior to becoming "awake".

We find out what parents of NICU babies need to know and how they can best arm themselves prior to the daunting NICU experience. Find out how the NICU does not practice informed consent and which shots are routinely administered to your baby regardless of your baby's weight or condition.

Which states are the best in regard to exercising medical freedom according to Kristen? What are the most unethical and non-evidence based practices Kristen witnessed imposted upon our most vulnerable population— premature babies— during her time in the NICU?And a question many of you have posed to us directly in email: what's the best vaccine protocol for a premature baby?

This is not your typical potty training pep talk. Nicole breaks down potty training the Go Diaper Free way. This method is aligned with how our wise women ancestors successfully got their babies out of diapers no later than 18 months old without bribes, sticker charts, shame, and coercion.

How and why did we get to where we are today— a time when diapering our children well beyond 2-3 years old has been normalized and in some cases even encouraged? What are the real signs of "readiness" when it comes to potty training?

The nutritional choices we make do have an impact on all of these areas, and the mainstream medical paradigm is slow to adapt, per usual.

    In this episode we discussed:

What is the real deal with the infamous glucose test? Why is the artificial orange drink a.k.a. Glucola the “gold standard” when testing women for Gestational Diabetes, and what are the shortcomings with the 50g, 75g, and 100g screening tests? How can Gestational Diabetes be managed, and what is the problem with the mainstream medical model’s current guidelines for GD management? When it comes to preconception and fertility, we of course have to mention The Pill. What must women know about their fertility when coming off the pill, and how does hormonal birth control impact future fertility outcomes and nutrient stores? What is recurrent miscarriage and how can women uncover the root cause?Male Factor Fertility— what is one thing all men can do across the board to contribute to the fertility equation, since we know they play a role in this too? What is the biggest scam with mainstream advice given for gestational hypertension, and what guidance should women follow instead?

  • We hear from Speech and Language Pathologist Maria Gianfilippo, Founder of Organic Speech Therapy, about what it takes to raise talkative babies and toddlers.

First, it’s important to know what the milestones and averages are in regard to spoken words by specific age targets. Yes, every child does develop at his or her own pace; however, within *reason*.

We reflect upon the main contributors to a burgeoning vocabulary versus speech delays that should raise red flags.

We learn about optimal environments and lifestyles parents can embody in order to maximize their child’s communication capacity.

We’ll discuss why TV shows are not an appropriate substitute for 1:1 human interaction when it comes to teaching our children. It's a tough pill to swallow, but even the "educational programs" are not ideal. TV is a tool and we need to treat it as such.

You’ll also hear about the “wait and see” approach still recommended by pediatricians and the main reasons why speech delays have been on a significant rise over the last few years.

Learn about the benefits of bi-, tri-, and quadlingualism.

  • Hear all about the MOTR approach to baby-led weaning. In this episode, we share our takes on:

what we think of baby-led weaninghow it’s different from simply “starting solids” overcoming obstacles mothers face when considering solids (fear of choking, allergens, breastfeeding relationships, etc). why we don’t care about added sodium for infants and what that evidence actually says (hint: it’s inconclusive)how we feel about purée pouches and stereotypical “baby food”why your pediatrician is not the expert on baby-led weaningsigns of readiness and why anything under 6 months old is too young to start solids

Stay tuned for part 2 for an even deeper dive on meals we offer our children, BLW hacks, staying the course during travel and dining out, and so much more.

  • Some women want two under two so they can “get the baby phase over with” in one fell swoop. Other women intentionally space their children 3+ years apart for various reasons such as socioeconomic and health.

Whether you are currently considering conscious or unconscious conception, the choice of how far apart to space your babies can impact you in ways beyond what you may have imagined.

So, what is the best interpregnancy interval between children? Is there even such a thing? Is one length more optimal than another? There are both objective and subjective answers behind this enigma.

We polled our loyal followers in our Instagram stories back in November about what the “perfect” age gap is between children, and we share those results along with your reasoning.

We also share the risks, benefits, pros and cons of short and long interpregnancy intervals. Did any of these surprise you?

If you are curious on what the latest evidence says about optimal pregnancy spacing, we read excerpts from the “Pregnancy Spacing” chapter in Lily Nichols’ book “Real Food for Pregnancy.”

The bottom line is- like everything that has to do with motherhood choices- only YOU will know the best interpregnancy interval for your body and your family. There are several factors that need to be considered beyond your and your baby’s physical health and well being- all of which we unpack during this episode.
