This is Hallowpeen, this is Hallowpeen, Hallowpeen, Hallowpeen, Hallowpeen, Hallowpeen. In this town, we call home, everyone hail to the pumpkin dong! While this isn’t another Holly Wilde episode, we do discuss Wilde’s amazing halloween read, Hallowpeen, to a degree. Kenna is off to BBSS here in the next week! Let’s talk about seasonal smut and what that means for authors, readers, and narrators!

Come, Cum, Cumming, Coming…but cummed? I cummed, you cummed, we cummed? IONLAHKIT, so let’s talk about it. Shifting from words of smut, we’ll talk grammar for our favorite word and…hobby? I don’t like this, someone fire me.

We become what Ethan hates most - a Dramione podcast. We're all over the place on this one, and Kenna being trashed likely had something to do with it. Our bookish podcast is definitely still about books.

Words do a lot, and some words in the context of smut can feel icky. In the narration space, apparently gasps and gasped are their shared archnemesis… Just say it, Ethan. Gasped.

Today was an amazing first! We did an author interview with Cassie from Unfortunate Reads and Vera Valentine to discuss Pushin’ Cushions? They’re absolutely amazing and a blast to chat with. We can’t wait for you guys to read this and their other works. We want you to know that Cassie and friends are doing a charity anthology to support ProLiteracy and you can purchase it here, Matched by the Unicorn: An Unusual Charity Anthology. If you’re into sentient object recs you can get them all here: Sentient Object Romance

We’re pretty sure we know how to end this podcast now, so tell us what you think! Bookish Hot Take Feedback
Kenna went to a speakeasy—but make it gothic literature themed. For the real topic, we’re highlighting author Chloe C. Peñaranda for the smut. You really, really, REALLY don’t want Edgar Allen Poe smut. Just. No…

So, you want to be an author…or a narrator…or a better one of the two. Boy do we have information for your unfortunate, misguided ass—
Anyway, after we push through the crap that has been the past two weeks in the book community, we get down to some good shit: tips for first time authors and narrators. We’re like those professionals, but we have made mistakes and learned from them. Want to know what we’d do differently and how you can get started? Listen to Episode 12 now!
Also, for the love of F*!K, tell Ethan how to end our podcast.

“WHAT IS MY JOB?” Ethan, for the love of Satan, please remember what my job is–it’s this, this is my job. (Someone pay me, I put up with so much…)
Round and round the book community discourse goes, and we attempted to streamline it all in a rapid-fire no questions asked no explanations given way…attempted. Ethan Gray was one of the winners in the Dark Star contest and we can’t be more proud of him and Jessie Elwyn. The main topic we get to eventually, is knowing the varying spectrum of smut of spice and where it fits in the story you’re telling.

Morally Gray’s Anatomy rolls out its 10th episode today, and honestly we’re in a bit of disbelief with you. That’s ten episodes, and at a minimum of ten hours of rambling chaos you’ve listened to–hats off to you, friend, for listening to Ethan say weird shit! We couldn’t do this without your continued support and if you haven’t heard the news: WE HAVE A PATREON. We know, wild, right? If you’re into the Patreon support system and are curious as to what’s to come later with the MGA Discord, join a tier and let’s have a party! Episode 10 is a bit of a ride from the current buzz on BookThreads, to the tangent of Greek Mythology, and well…if you’re curious about the course of this conversation, go give us a listen.

Morally Gray’s Anatomy Ep 9 discusses Kenna’s recent book signing in Portland, shout out to Hot & Steamy Events, and what it was like meeting Sylvia Morrow and Latrexa Nova. This episode covers the very talked about novella in the sentient smut world, Stuffed. The iconic pillow romance landed in MGA’s lap and we are so excited to unravel…unstuff?...the narrative behind how a pillow becomes sentient in this very wild and hilarious bedroom tale. Stuffed by Sylvia Morrow

Morally Gray’s Anatomy Ep 8 discusses a topic that most seem to view as a new age concept. Really, it boils down to marketing age-old communicators for relating the reader to the story. Whether it’s the oldest surviving ancient poem, or the newest release of sentient fucking from Holly Wilde, everything can be boiled down to its tropes and marketed to its targeted reader audience.
-
Morally Gray’s Anatomy tackles the question of what the fuck is romantasy and why does it look like the other labels? Kind of a loose interpretation of this episode if you will. All the same, we’re talking about fantasy as an overarching theme. Covering the genre in its best media forms we breakdown issues we see repeated and why our favorite fantasy works knock it out of the park.

Morally Gray’s Anatomy is ready to push back in Episode 6. If you’ve been around BookTok for the last month, let alone since its formation, you should be familiar with the attack on romance books/books with explicit romance from, no surprise here, people NOT in the community. KB here, honestly, that’s being generous and polite. Thankfully, I don’t have to be polite at work. Let’s be real, these cishet men haven’t so much as read a magazine since high school. We know the type, they hardly did the required reading then, you think they’re going to read romance to understand someone’s desires and needs leisurely? So, why then, would they involve themselves in someone else’s enjoyment? (Oh) Boy did MGA explore all the angles for that one. We like to leave BookTok to its own drama, but limited recording time really hinders this discussion. How can you possibly tackle religion, the patriarchy, and the general cishet male audacity in a short video with disappointments shouting in the comments as though their opinion matters?
-
Morally Gray’s Anatomy spins it back to the whacky and admittedly delicious for Episode 5 this week. If you’ve ever asked yourself, “What would it be like to get railed by blank?” well we can probably answer it with the help of Holly Wilde’s catalog! Wilde’s wide array of published sentient erotica novellas are not only impressive by means of creativity, but also in quality and style.
-
Morally Gray’s Anatomy shifts for Episode 4 this week. With no particular book for this discussion, Kenna and Ethan dive into all things taboo. Giving perspective from both professions, this episode offers insight into the banned, forbidden, and vulgar. These topics can be sensitive for certain listeners, so keep in mind that familial relations, blood and marriage, are discussed.
Questions to answer: Is Ethan aware of the difference between 1995 and 2004?
Does Ethan ever learn what a Zaddy is?
-
Morally Gray’s Anatomy rolls out Episode 3 this week and things get a little…milky? Unfortunately in this episode, Kenna was really sick and annoyingly stubborn as she refused to cancel the recording that night. The main event is no other than Milked by the Balloon Monster by Evie Lace. This monster erotica novella can be found here if you’d like to read it for yourself: Milked by the Balloon Monster by Evie Lace

Welcome back to Morally Gray’s Anatomy! In this week’s episode we took a page from some playbook somewhere surely and discussed the Super Bowl predictions (which were partially, mostly wrong) and covered Roughing the Princess by Ivy Smoak.
