Do you have a rich mindset when it comes to money? Or are you unconsciously holding yourself back from financial freedom? As the data shows, many people are in fact holding themselves back, and financial psychologist Dr. Brad Klontz knows this all too well. That's why, after writing several amazing books on psychology and money, including Mind Over Money and Psychology of Financial Planning, he's teamed up with entrepreneur Adrian Brambila to share how you can break free and start thinking rich by reading their new book: Start Thinking Rich: 21 Harsh Truths to Take You from Broke to Financial Freedom.
I'm gonna be honest, if you want a book that sugarcoats things, this is not the book for you. It's full of home truths that may be uncomfortable to hear, but sometimes they need to be heard if nothing else has been able to make an impact for you. Nevertheless, at the core of the book, the message is that you deserve a better financial life, you are capable of changing your future, and there's never been a better time than right now to take that first step into the rest of your life.

Do you dream of flying business class in one of those lie-flat seats with multiple course meals and unlimited wine on a long-haul flight like I do? Personally, the cheapskate in me could never pay for such an expensive airline ticket. But after interviewing Graeme Bligh, founder of The Canadian Jetsetter, I've learned that you may not have to. If you know how to play the credit card points game strategically, you can fly in luxury for free!
Because my episodes with Shawn Stewart, President of AIR MILES, and T.J. Dunn, Editor-in-Chief at Prince of Travel, were so popular, I wanted to invite Graeme on the show to find out his travel tips we can all learn from.
Over the past few years, Graeme has become one of the top Canadian content creators focused on educating Canadians about which points to collect and how to maximize them for incredible travel experiences. Not only does he make amazing short-form videos on his Instagram and Tiktok, you can also find his longer-form videos on his YouTube channel and stay in the loop of the latest travel deals by signing up for his newsletter.

If you've been watching Debbie Travis decorate on TV for years like I have, then you're going to love hearing what she's up to now! Basically, she's living my dream, having moved to Tuscany a decade ago where she now spends her days making her own olive oil and wine, hosting groups of women for life-changing retreats at her villa and writing books about her life like her latest one: Laugh More: Stories from an Unexpected Life.
This was what she envisioned as her next chapter after pioneering the modern-day home decorating show, writing multiple books, and making her wealth through her production company and brand deals all before it was cool to do it. So the question remains, what's your next chapter look like once you've reached your version of financial freedom?
In this episode, we talk about her incredible career and financial journey from broke model in London to household name in Canada, while also exploring how we should all dream big, make plans and take more risks because we only have one life to live (so might as well live it to the fullest).

If you're a big Selling Sunset fan like I am, then you're going to love this episode! I had to pull a few strings with my publisher to get Mary Bonnet on the show, but I'm so glad! Not only did I absolutely love her new book Selling Sunshine: Surviving Teenage Motherhood, Thriving in Luxury Real Estate, and Finally Finding My Voice, but she was so candid about the ups-and-downs she's experienced with money on the podcast too! I think she may be the first guest to share her credit score on the show, which she's working on getting back into the 800s after her second husband forced her to declare bankruptcy.
I say it a few times throughout this episode, but Mary's story is really about how resilience can be your superpower. Life can be difficult and unfair at times, but if you keep getting back up after each financial setback, you never know where it may lead you. In Mary's case, it led her to a successful career as a luxury real estate agent in LA on top of being a star on Netflix's popular TV show Selling Sunset.

We're more global than ever, and the same goes for our money. We travel internationally more frequently, work or go to school abroad, move to different countries and receive or send money back home. Our money needs to keep up with how fluid our lives are. Unfortunately, most banks or currency exchange shops are still living in the dark ages, making it hard for us to easily move money around with us.
That's why I wanted to discuss how we can all be wiser with our money with Ankita DMello, Principal Product Manager at Wise. I've personally been using Wise for years for a few different reasons. It started with my business, as I work with contractors from different countries and wanted a seamless and low-fee way to pay them. Then, I started using it for travel. Instead of relying solely on my credit cards and being charged a foreign transaction fee plus a marked-up exchange rate, I now load up my Wise card with funds (which works similarly to a debit card) so I can pay for things in that country's local currency for a much lower fee and the mid-market exchange rate, which is the fairest exchange rate out there.
In this episode, we explore different scenarios in which you may not even realize you're paying high fees or aren't getting the best exchange rate, some common misconceptions about exchanging currency, current trends Wise is seeing with its customers' use of the platform, and the importance of being strategic with the financial tools available so you can reduce the fees you pay and keep more money for more important things.

When you're at the start of your personal finance journey, typically you've got one focus — how to get by. That means catching up on your bills, getting rid of your debt, putting money into savings, and getting to a place where you can finally breathe again. But once you've scaled that big mountain, where do you go next? That's where Holly Trantham's book Beyond Getting By: The Financial Diet's Guide to Abundant and Intentional Living comes in.
Holly is the creative director of The Financial Diet, where she's been talking about money on and offline since 2016. This new book is the sequel to TFD co-founders Chelsea Fagan and Lauren Ver Hage's first book The Financial Diet: A Total Beginner's Guide to Getting Good with Money. It's your guide on how to not only get to the next level with your money, but more importantly, how to start feeling good about your money. This means starting to think of money less as a goal to achieve and more as a tool to help you live a life that brings you comfort and joy. It also means determining what does true happiness mean for you outside of money, because money can only help so much.

If you're an employee, this is a must-listen episode! We should all know more about our employee rights, so why not learn it straight from two powerhouse lawyers who help clients navigate the complex world of employment contracts, salary and severance negotiation, and standing up for themselves in the workplace every day? That's why I've invited David Whitten and Daniel Lublin, founding partners of Whitten & Lublin Employment Lawyers, to come on the podcast to share their years of experience in employment law.
In this episode, we discuss topics such as the first thing you should do when you receive a job offer, what red flags you should be aware of in employment contracts, how to negotiate your pay and other benefits before signing on the dotted line, what your rights are in the workplace once you're hired, how to ask for accommodations if you have a disability, and how to fight for what you're owed if you get terminated.
If you're looking for advice about your employment situation, make sure to get in contact with David or Daniel or use their Virtual Lawyer.

We can learn a lot about wealth if we just look to the Stoics. So much so that author Darius Foroux wrote a whole book on it! In his new book The Stoic Path to Wealth: Ancient Wisdom for Enduring Prosperity, he shares how closely interconnected wealth-building and success are to Stoicism, the philosophy of focusing on the things in life you can control (such as your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours) while accepting those you cannot.
Darius has been practicing this way of thinking for years and has been able to see first-hand the fruits of his labours for doing so. He's been able to take the emotion out of investing, stay disciplined when managing his finances, and not get sucked into the greed trap by remembering that money is just a tool to live the life you want, it's not the goal itself.

How do you feel about your life right now, in this moment? I've gotta say, this question has been heavily on my mind the past year since I've had to do a lot of introspection for my upcoming book. Am I happy? Where am I headed? What is my personal potential and am I doing all I can to unlock it? For the season 18 finale of the More Money Podcast, I invited my guest Jeff Lerner on the show to discuss how we can all design a fulfilling life and change course if we need to... and what money's role has to do with it.
Jeff has a very interesting background. He quit high school to become a professional pianist, but in 2008, his world flip over. Faced with eviction and a divorce, struggling with depression and $495,000 in debt, he was not where he wanted to be in life. So, he set out on a quest to change that, and a decade later he was able to redesign his life into one that truly fulfilled him, but one that also helped him gain financial security through his multiple 8-figure earning businesses. Nowadays his focus is to teach others how to develop their own life operating system through his ENTRE Institute so they too can live a life that checks all their physical, personal and professional boxes.
As the last episode of this season, I hope this interview serves as some much-needed inspiration for you as you continue working on yourself, and your finances, while I take a break for the summer. And guess what, when the podcast comes back in the fall, I'll have many more details to share about my book! But also speaking of books, make sure to grab a copy of Jeff's book Unlocking Your Potential (or enter to win a copy in my book giveaway!).

Is there an advantage to being an outsider? Often we just want to fit it, but what would happen if we leaned into what sets us apart? That's what Ciera Rogers, founder and CEO of BABES and author of The Outsider Advantage, did to get herself out of poverty and eventually build a multi-million dollar fashion brand. In this episode, we talk about changing your money story, accepting and healing from your money trauma, and changing course so you can achieve the life you want and deserve.

We talk a lot about investing, budgeting, and spending our money... but what about giving it away? An often overlooked but important element of personal finance is making sure our money flows through our communities and helps make the world a safer, kinder and better place. That's why I invited founder and CEO of Charitable Impact, John Bromley, on the podcast to discuss the importance of philanthropy, how to give in alignment with your values, and how to donate to make the biggest impact. Make sure to check out after this episode Charitable Impact. I stumbled upon it and just think it's such a great tool to help you donate your money to multiple causes through one simple account while also giving you that oh-so-nice charitable tax receipt for tax time.

We talked about how to use AIR MILES to travel better in episode 393 with President Shawn Stewart, and since getting so much great feedback from that episode, I thought why not do an episode talking about another great loyalty program for travel — Aeroplan. And since one of the best online sources for information about Aeroplan is Prince of Travel, I invited Editor-in-Chief T.J. Dunn on the show to find out all his tips, tricks, and secrets.
As someone who has been travel-hacking with Aeroplan points for years, T.J. now helps others learn how to use points to get free (or almost free trips), how to fly business class for a fraction of the cost, and when are the best times to book travel with points to get the best value.
All I can say is I've never been more excited about my future trip to Italy now that I know my flights are basically already paid for!

Us women have come a long way to close the pay gap... or have we? Legal scholars Naomi Cahn, June Carbone, and Nancy Levit would argue that we are actually further away from pay parity than we think and there is much more work to be done for us to have a just economy.
Despite leaning in, getting advanced degrees, and working twice as hard, women's wages are still being eroded and there is still barely any female representation in lucrative industries like tech, finance, and law (as they've personally witnessed as lawyers and law professors themselves). So, what can be done?
In their new book, Fair Shake: Women and the Fight to Build a Just Economy and in this podcast episode, they not only identify the root problem and share real-life stories from women fighting the good fight, but they also share a path forward that both women and allies can walk together.

I've been a big fan of Brian Preston and The Money Guy Show for years, so it was so fun having Brian on the show to talk money and discuss his new book Millionaire Mission: A 9-Step System to Level-Up Your Finances and Build Wealth.
The reason I was initially drawn to Brian, besides his super friendly demeanour (and that amazing southern accent), is he just tells it like it is. No fluff. No BS. Just damn good financial advice. And that's because he has over 25 years of financial planning experience, so he's seen it all and he knows bad advice or people just trying to get clicks online when he sees it. But more than that, you can tell that he genuinely loves helping people improve their financial lives, which is likely why he's helped millions of people over the years get out of debt, save more money, and build wealth through his podcasts, YouTube channel, courses, social media posts, and his Abound Wealth Management company.
For anyone looking for a clear guide on how to build wealth so they can eventually become a millionaire, Brian has some great strategies he shares in this episode as well as his book (which don't forget, I'm giving away a copy of!).

It's been over a year since my last solo episode, and oh boy did I have fun with it! Thank you to everyone who submitted a question. I tried my best to get to most of them, but if I'm honest, some of them were just too specific so on those cases, as I mention in the episode, I'd suggest hiring a fee-only financial planner to get specific financial advice which is something I can't provide through the podcast. I hope to do more of these in the future, maybe even make it a regular thing, but for now, enjoy!

If you're self-employed in Canada, listen up because this episode is for you! Since posting some videos about setting up a small business and figuring out income tax and sales tax on my YouTube channel years ago, I still get questions about write-offs, tax rules, and registering a business on the daily. But I'm not an accountant, so often I have to tell people to seek professional advice from a CPA. Enter my next guest Jami Monte who is a CPA and has a ton of great resources including a course all about how to set up your small business properly in Canada.
In this episode, she shares some new tax updates if you haven't filed your 2023 taxes yet, but for the most part, we just do a deep dive on the most common questions I get from self-employed folks about bookkeeping, accounting and making sure they are doing everything right.

With finfluencers everywhere talking about 6-figure incomes and starting a side hustle, is it even possible to build wealth, reach your financial goals and retire one day working a 9-to-5? It sure is, and that's one of the reasons I invited Nathan Kennedy, who you may know from TikTok or Instagram as NewMoneyNate, to talk all about it.
In this podcast episode, Nathan not only shares his tips for employees to earn smarter, not harder while living the life they want, but we also discuss financial certifications and the lack thereof with many financial content creators (and whether it really matters), Nathan's journey from 9-to-5er to full-time financial literacy educator, common money mistakes he hears from his audience, and career and negotiation advice that actually works.

It's always exciting to have another Jessica on the show and I've got the amazing Jessica Spangler on the podcast today! Doctor by day and financial content creator by night, she has just come out with her first book called Invest Like a Girl aimed at empowering women to take control of their finances and build wealth. Because as the data shows, women are actually really, really good at investing. However, data also shows that many women are still hoarding cash instead of investing it, and this needs to change (especially since statistically we live longer than men so we need that extra money!).
In this episode, we delve into what inspired Jessica to take her finances seriously and start teaching others about it on the side, what barriers women face when it comes to financial education, earning higher incomes and taking action with their money, and some practical steps to get started right after this episode. And one of those steps could be to check out my very own investing course called Wealth Building Blueprint for Canadians.
