Congratulations to the Wings. Now don't screw it up and make sure you actually draft Paige. Arike says she fell to the floor and I believe it. There's a little Storm controversy to discuss and we also give a brief introduction to Unrivaled which will start in January.
On the MNBA front, we use some stats to discuss Gradey Dick, Cade Cunningham, Peyton Pritchard, The Houston Rockets, and more. The episode ends with a discussion on how to make the most of a size advantage in the 3 point era, since most teams that I watch seem completely lost in this regard.Email: [email protected]

I know it's been a while, but just to put a bow on the season we return to game 5 and discuss some of the controversy surrounding the officiating.
In other W news, coaches continue to lose their jobs. It's neither surprising nor all that upsetting, but still worth discussing a bit.
Finally, the meat of the episode is spent setting a baseline baseline baseline for all 30 teams in the Men's National Basketball Association. Let's see how long I can keep the MNBA joke going, shall we?
A few more F bombs in this one than usual. Apologies. Could be that something super important with disappointing results took place on November 5th and I'm working through those feelings by talking about basketball. Ya, that's probably it.Email: [email protected]

Most of this episode is spent discussing the first three games of the WNBA finals and looking forward to game 4 and a potential game 5.
Tucked into that talk, we will discuss a bit the changes to the season and post season format for next year.
We also spend some time defending the All-WNBA selections and end the episode with a warm welcome and brief introduction to Natalie Nakase, the first ever head coach of the Golden State Valkyries. Are there bread crumbs leading us to the first Golden State Valkyries player? Mayhaps, mayhaps.Email: [email protected]

The title says it all. Recapping the last few games of the semis and looking forward to the finals. I maintain that the Liberty win it all this year but provide a blueprint for how Minnesota could possibly make it interesting and take advantage of the emotional context for these finals.
We spend a little time at the end reacting to the season-long award winners. No real arguments here. Happy to recognize all award winners for their seasons, but we throw a few more names in too that won't be taking home any hardware but still deserve their flowers.Email: [email protected]

Well, after 4 sweeps in the first round and 0 road wins we've got a game 4 in both semi-finals series and road teams are 2-4. Will we see a Game 5? Or two?
Tanisha Wright lost her job with the Atlanta Dream after 3 years. Not saying they won't find someone better or enjoy more team success with a different coach, but I have reason to believe that this move has more to do with the play of Rhyne Howard (and her lack of development) than anything else.
Finally, we have some clarity on how the upcoming expansion draft will work. Stay tuned for a mock draft episode coming very soon. Outlined at the end of this episode are the rules of said draft and some wrinkles that I was not expecting but would love to see teams exploit.Email: [email protected]

As I explain in the beginning, this episode is about 24-30 hours late coming out because of some issues with my home internet. Apologies to all my "Basketeers" (let's make it a thing)
We start by wrapping up the first round and then roll right into predictions for what should be a much more competitive second round.
Curt Miller and Teresa Weatherspoon both lost their jobs recently. We take some educated guesses as to why and who I think could/should be next.
Finally, we conclude with some men's talk discussing the recent blockbuster trade sending KAT to NYK.Email: [email protected]

Which results can we trust and which ones get the UNO reverse? Feels like it could be a quick round 1, but that's fine. Bring on the semis and more competitive ball!
Gonna try to have episodes every day or two throughout the postseason since things move quickly. I hope you'll join us :)Email: [email protected]

Despite the order in the episode title, you will find the rookie discussion in the first 75-80 minutes of the episode and the playoff previews after that.
We have postponed our mock expansion draft, but it is coming soon. If you have questions or ideas about any of that, please reach out. We'd love to hear from you.
Basketball Leg End: Dunk Contest Edition is out on Instagram. Nobody has been able to identify all 8 dunkers. Can you?

It's been a while...
Apologies for the (Sergio) Lull in episodes, and that awful joke that only really works when written and not said out loud. We may not have been recording lately but we have been paying attention.
With that in mind, we touch on all 12 teams here as a sort of season wrap-up with a focus on the last couple weeks. What has the story been for each team so far and how will their story conclude this season?
We also spend some extra time talking about the Chicago Sky and more specifically Angel Reese. The rebounding, the double doubles, the stat chasing, the message this sends to the team, the way the team has seemingly bought into it, the way the coach seems to be facilitating the birth of a team culture that values personal statistics over team success... Let's just say we get into it.
Stay tuned for two more episodes this week. E32 will contain some more rookie talk and begin to hypothesize about the upcoming expansion draft. Should be published on Wednesday. E33 will be our playoff preview episode on Friday or Saturday.Email: [email protected]

Been about a week so there's plenty to discuss in the W. Trying something a little different with the recaps and taking more of a team focused perspective rather than just going through the games chronologically. Would love to hear what you think.
On that note, we did have a listener write in a response to the Rose MVP segment and so our "men's spot" in this episode covers that response.
Despite an entire week since our last episode, nobody has been able to solve the current Basketball Leg Ends challenge. You could be the one! Head to Instagram to play and you could earn yourself a shout out on the next episode!
JLN Report: Add J-A-Y-L-Y-N to the list for Jaylyn Sherrod of the NYL. We are now up to 23 total JLNs in the W/NBA and 6 different spellings.Email: [email protected]

And we back (and we back) and we back (and we back) and we back (and we back)...
Recaps for the first half or so. Some conversation about Atlanta making a playoff push and the teams primed to play spoiler.
*I think I forgot to mention NYL 103 LAS 68 on Thursday, August 15th. This was a gross blowout. Not much to talk about. Still, I apologize.
Then we discuss the least impressive NBA MVP of the 21st Century. Normally this is where someone might say "don't @ me", but I welcome it. @me, please @me all you like.
Basketball Leg Ends seems to be stumping some folks. Head to Instagram to see if you can identify these two airborne ballers!Email: [email protected]

We have taken a few days to digest the "cuisine a la maison". Recaps/reactions of/to the medal games for both men and women comprise the majority of this episode.
Check us out on Instagram for more Basketball Leg Ends, a visual trivia game.
The final thoughts/consequences have to do with getting international play to harmonize a little better with WNBA as well as detailing some players who probably felt a bit disrespected this past month or so and how that could manifest in their play moving forward. Men AND Women.Email: [email protected]

It's a daily grind right now, but the finals are upon us.
As a bitter Canadian, it is difficult for me to root for anyone in this finals match up, but I do acknowledge the historical significance of seeing Wembanyama vs. the faces of the NBA for the last decade or so.
Something tells me we will also see history being made in the bronze medal game.
Back tomorrow with a similar episode updating the women's side of things.Email: [email protected]

As the title implies, this is an episode covering the women's Olympic basketball group stage with previews of the quarterfinals match ups. However, I did feel it was necessary to address some transphobia and hate that has been on display in the Olympics with the two boxers (Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan). I can't cover the WNBA without a discussion of issues like this and the W has certainly had its own cases of hate and transphobia that continue to this day, especially with Griner.
Then we get into the Olympic stuff.
Similar to the men's episode, we start by saying good bye to the four teams eliminated and then move on to the quarter finals. The bulk of the episode is broken down team by team so please feel free to use the chapter function to find the information most relevant to you.
Oh, and of course, I had to sneak in another little rant about the legend of Diana Taurasi.Email: [email protected]

Wowowowow. I hope you've been tuning in. I am personally in paradise with all this high level basketball.
In this episode, we cover the group stage performance of all 12 teams in the tournament. We say goodbye to our four eliminated teams and take a look at the bracket to see how things might play out.
The top 4 teams coming into the tournament hold the top 4 seeds after the group stage and could easily meet for our two semi final match ups. As a basketball fan, it really can't get much better. Three cheers for Canada making it to the opposite side of the bracket from USA.
A similarly formatted episode focused on the Women's tournament will come out tomorrow :)Email: [email protected]

To start, we'll talk about All-Star weekend including Allisha Gray's dominance and Arike's revenge. Oh, and there's a brief discussion of baby Bash Griner as well as the WNBA knowing it's worth.
On the Olympic side, we start by outlining the rule changes as well as the format for the tournament. Most of this information is a repeat from the men's episode. Finally, we work through the groups and I give you my overall ranking for all 12 teams with a brief discussion of the handful of teams I think will be competing for Silver and Bronze behind the USA Gold.Email: [email protected]

The title basically is the description. You are heavily encouraged to use the "chapters" feature in order to find the sections most relevant to you. The general structure of this episode is as follows:
Intro
Rule Differences
Competitive Format
Overall Rankings
Ranking Within Group
Team Previews
Key Games
There will be a Women's episode coming out very soon with a similar structure. We will also react to All-Star weekend in that episode.Email: [email protected]
