On 2 November, the great Keith Emerson would have turned 80. To honor this anniversary I have remastered the Keith Emerson Tribute program I did in the aftermath of his tragic death. The program has lots of great Emerson music (with The Nice, ELP, and ELPowell) and also features commentary from some great contemporary keyboard players, including Erik Norlander, Aaron Clift, Dave Kerzner, and Luca Zabbini. I hope you will join me in remembering a legend of the Prog Rock genre, who we lost too soon.

For this week's Prog-Watch I have put together a different kind of program. A death in my family and the need to travel to the funeral left me with no time to put together a proper show, and I didn't want to go with another From the Archives episode. As a compromise, I decided to put together a kind of stream-of-consciousness program full of random stuff from the 1980s. After a brief preamble you will not hear me and my usual patter, just lots of cool tunes. Thanks for your understanding, and I hope you enjoy Whatnot from the 1980s!

This week I am paying tribute to the late, great Mike Pinder -- a man who not only shaped the sound of his own band (the Moody Blues) but also changed the course of rock music and helped define the sound of your favorite sub-genre, prog rock.
