This weeks episode is all about the enigma that was Vivian Maier. She was a nanny and a carer for 40 years working in Chicago's north shore, However just before she died her photography was discovered by a collector John Maloof in an auction, What he discovered was a major contribution to the world of street photography - A photographer, filmmaker and audio interview creator who never shared her work - In this episode I look at the woman and her possible motives.
This episode is best enjoyed with a nice cup of tea by the fire

In this second episode, I take a look at 'The Americans' and Robert Frank a photographer who travelled across America for two years and took 28000 images ' He sucked a sad poem out of America' The book that followed was a critique of American society - Images of empty diners, glitz and dismay - A tragic vision of The American Dream. Frank passed away this year and I felt it was important to recognise the impact his work had on photography - A photographer who definitely did not care for the rules.

In this first episode of Random Ramblings on photography I start at the beginning, Well it seemed like a good place to start. We take a look at how photography came into existence. It's foreshadowing with the camera obscura and the Old masters who dabbled with that pre-photography camera and how it changed what they created in the subtlest of ways. we skip on to Daguerre, Niépce and Talbot. This episode is an ideal companion to a nice cup of tea.
