Description
In this episode, Dr Mike Bird interviewed one of his students, Lachlan Vines, who won the Journal of Anglican Studies Student Essay Competition in April 2024. Lachlan is currently studying for the Master of Divinity at Ridley College and wrote an essay on Rowan Williams' Theology of Revelation for one of his assignments. He shares how he coincidentally met and spent some time interviewing Rowan Williams (former Archbishop of Canterbury) on his trip to the UK. His essay will be published in the Journal of Anglican Studies later this year. Listen to what he has to say.Study With Ridley

The Anglican Institute Lecture 2024
Deep Things We Share: Discipleship and the Lord's SupperDescription
We celebrate the Lord's Supper as Jesus instructed, but for many its role in daily discipleship has been neglected. Learn again how the discipleship agenda for your church - whatever it is - might be strengthened by sharing in the deep things of the Lord during the Communion service.Speaker:
Revd Canon Dr Rhys Bezzant
Rhys studied German at the Universities of Melbourne and Cologne, graduating with an MA, before commencing theological studies at Ridley where he gained his MTh on Austrian revivals of the eighteenth century. Rhys joined the Faculty at Ridley in 2004, after working in both parish and student ministry. He was ordained priest in the Diocese of Melbourne in 1997, and has served on the ministry teams of both small and large Melbourne Anglican parishes, including Heidelberg and Carlton, as well as Prahran and Brimbank. He is a Canon at St Paul’s Cathedral, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and has a heart to see Anglican church services more theologically rich and useful for training believers to serve God everyday.Subscribe:

The Peter Corney Lecture in Youth Ministry
Lessons from Christian Endeavor
“A Training School for the Church”
Speaker:
Dr Ruth Lukabyo, Youthworks College, Sydney
Download
Download Lecture Slide Deck: https://bit.ly/PCL2023-Slides-CEDescription:
Christian Endeavour was arguably the largest and most influential worldwide youth movement. Founded in the USA by Francis E Clarke in 1881, the first Australian Young People’s Society of Christian Endeavour was formed in Geelong in 1883.
This lecture examines the origins, strategy, and influence of Christian Endeavour in Australia, and considers the lessons to be learned from this history. How might Clarke’s approach of mutual accountability, high commitment, and every member service still be helpful as we consider our ministry practices and values today?

The Leon Morris Lecture in NT Studies 2022
The Problem Of Evil And Jesus: An Answer I Can Live With
Guest Speaker: The Rev'd Graham ColeDescription
The existence of evil in the world is undeniable. The media gives us access to local and global news of violence, suffering, and death 24/7. People suffer and die, friends suffer and die, loved ones suffer and die. For some, their knowledge and experience of evil is enough to justify unbelief in the existence and/or goodness of God. In this lecture, the problem of evil is faced in the light of the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. He is the God who became human and wept with individuals and even over a whole city. Whether God can suffer per se is a much-debated question, but that Jesus in his humanity knew suffering from the inside and experienced evil perpetrated against him is undeniable. If there is a believable Christian answer to the problem of evil, Jesus will be at the centre to it.Thank you for listening to the Ridley College Podcast, brought to you by Ridley College.
