Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
EA Sports keeps up the excitement for the revival of NCAA ‘25 but first Mike Gundy puts his foot in his mouth. Star Oklahoma State running Back Ollie Gordon III recently got arrested for driving while intoxicated and at Big Ten media days head coach Mike Gundy decided the best route was to minimize the severity and danger of driving while drunk. It’s an internal decision of if and how a player in this situation should be reprimanded but minimizing it was a horrible choice and Gundy is deservedly getting negative reactions to it. As a leader of men, Gundy made a bad situation worse.
With the new College Football game a week away EA Sports has us salivating at the mouth waiting for its release. This week they dropped their top 100 players and a deep-dive of the Road to Glory game mode. The Big Ten has 31 players in the top 100 headline by no. one ranked player Cornerback Will Johnson from Michigan. In total, there are four players from the Big Ten in the top ten with Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham joining Will Johnson and at no. Eight and Ohio State’s safety Caleb Downs and running back Quinshon Judkins at no. Five and nine respectively.
Depending on who you asked EA left the best for last with its Road to Glory, deep dive. While it’s missing the high school season aspect which is a major disappointment they seem to have put their best foot forward with the rest of the game. You can expect real decisions that impact your player's career, wear and tear, NIL, and they brought back position battles. Good luck figuring out if you want your player to be an underdog two-star recruit or an elite five-star recruit with high expectations. Good luck deciding which game mode you plan to play first.

“Bucketheads” is LGHL’s men’s basketball podcast, hosted by Connor Lemons and Justin Golba. In every episode, they give you the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes and everything else happening in college hoops.
After a small break in the dog days of summer, Connor and Justin are back for episode 123 of Bucketheads, and we have an entire episode dedicated to recruiting.
First of all, Ohio State lands a commitment from the highly touted four-star Dorian Jones. We break down what Jones has to offer and discuss Jake Diebler landing his second commitment from Cleveland.
We also discuss the influx of talent in Ohio's high school ranks right now, how many recruits the Buckeyes can take over the next two years, and who should be the top priorities.
We end the episode with a little TBT update and Reds and Cardinals banter since it is July, a slow time for college basketball.

Hangout in the Holy Land is back with a brand new episode, and we are talking about Mount Rushmore. Josh gives his all-time athletics Mount Rushmore, while Justin gives his men’s basketball Mount Rushmore, and they discuss and debate who they left off.
Before that, Josh and Justin talked about Justin Hill committing to Alabama and Riley Pettijohn committing to Ohio State. Did Pettijohn's commitment take some of the sting off Hill's going to Tuscaloosa? Or is it more important to keep the Ohio guys in state?

We are back for the Fourth of July week, and for this newest episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, we are talking about all things Ohio State Athletics because a lot has happened.
We start with the most important topic. Is the Fourth of July overrated? Or, at least, are fireworks overrated?
It is a big week for Ohio State recruiting as the Buckeyes await Justin Hill’s decision. And is Oregon becoming a problem? After that, we stick to the LGHL’s theme week and discuss some burning questions that we have heading into the football and basketball seasons.
We also discuss Ohio State men’s basketball landing a commitment from 2025 top-100 Dorian Jones, Carmen’s Crew return to TBT, and Neal Shipley’s play at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Marijuana is legal in 24 states and it is now no longer a banned substance by the NCAA. Regardless of your stance on marijuana, it is becoming destigmatized, and it is also no longer banned by the three major sports leagues in the United States. Do you think athletes should be allowed to use marijuana? Let us know in the comments.
We’re getting closer to the July 19th release date of EA Sports College Football ‘25 and EA is slowly releasing more and more information. This week was ‘rankings week’ as the developers released three sets of rankings, the 25 toughest places to play and the top 25 offenses and defenses in the game. Dante and Jordan have major beef with the rankings, this game may be a love letter to college football but the developers don’t know ball. There are too many legacy picks and hype picks including Colorado having a top-25 defense and offense in this iteration of the video game.
In their weekly pitstops, Jordan is annoyed with the New York Yankees infielders as the team continues to slide losing a bunch of games in the past couple of weeks. Dante gives a shoutout to Men’s Mental Health Month. It’s important to prioritize your mental health, we hope you all take care of yourself whether through therapy, exercise, meditation, or any other healthy activity.

Josh and Justin are back for the latest episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, and we are talking about the Buckeyes getting hot on the recruiting trail.
A busy month of June for Ryan Day, Mark Pantoni, and Company... And thus far, it has proven to be a fruitful one. OSU gained 7 new commitments from the class of 2025, highlighted by Faheem Delane, Quincy Porter, and most recently, Zion Grady.
The latter is a top-10 edge recruit from Alabama, making him the second top-75 player from that state to commit to the Buckeyes, joining corner Na’eem Offord.
Then, in honor of this week’s Land Grant Holy Land theme, we discuss some OSU athletics records that we think may never be broken. Or will they?

A lot has happened this offseason on the Ohio State football front, and we’ve reconvened to discuss much of it. We start this show with a discussion of former Buckeyes around the NFL. Michael Hall Jr. has signed with the Browns, and there are new homes for Gareon Conley and Steele Chambers. Which are in good situations?
There has been a lot of talk recently about Caleb Downs taking snaps at running back? Is this a good idea? We talk about the things Chip Kelly has said and debate whether or not a two-way Downs is the way the Buckeyes should go.
Nigel Porter is headed back to Northwestern via the transfer portal after a short and unsuccessful career at Ohio State. We never got to see what he could do, but maybe that’s the point.
Some of the 2024 kickoff times have dropped and we talk about the Buckeyes opening up the season with an afternoon and evening game of MACtion against Akron and Western Michigan, as well as why Ohio State may not have many night games. Speaking of the schedule, Grambling has replaced UConn on the 2025 OSU schedule. A less-than-stellar contest has taken the place of another.
What’s the deal with Billy Fessler becoming an analyst with the Buckeyes? Chip Kelly knows him well and we think this is a good move that will make Kelly more comfortable.
Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair had a big performance at the Elite 11. We talk about him winning the accuracy contest and how his career might unfold in Columbus.
Finally, we break down Phil Steele’s preseason All-American teams, which include seven Buckeyes across his three squads. We discuss who was maybe too high, too low, or snubbed altogether. It’s all conjecture, of course, but it makes for fun debate.
We’ll continue coming at you monthly in the college football offseason, with plans to return to our weekly schedule in August 2024. We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email.

The sports world lost two legends over the past couple of weeks with the passing of NBA legend Jerry West and MLB and Negro League legend Willie Mays. Both guys were two of the flag bearers for their leagues making it what it is today. Willie Mays helped break the color barrier in Major League Baseball and is one of the greatest players to ever play the game with over 3,000 hits and more than 600 home runs to pair with more than 300 steals. No player has come near those numbers, May was one of the best all-around players we’ve ever seen. Jerry West was a pioneer on the court, recognized for his impact on and off the court and his likeness being used as the NBA logo. West was successful on and off the court being pivotal in creating the Shaw/Kobe Lakers and the Steph Curry Warriors dynasty. The sports world will miss these titans of the industry.
In the news recently the Big 12 conference has had conversations around naming rights for their conference. Could we soon see the ‘Allstate 12’ conference? Money is important, especially as the sport changes but there should be a better way to get money than naming your conference after another brand. Marketing is a major issue in the sport right now including in the NBA as the league has an issue marketing its future stars focusing only on LeBron James even during the NBA Finals. The NBA season has come to an end with Jaylen Brown leading the Boston Celtics to an NBA Final over Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. The guys break down the finals and Jaylen Brown wins the Finals MVP over Jayson Tatum who is the bigger household name.
In their weekly pitstop, the guys discuss Angel Reese and her transition to the WNBA. Reese after logging 16 points and 18 rebounds broke the WNBA rookie record with seven straight double-doubles. Despite many doubts about her transitioning to the league Reese has shown she belongs in the league, Can she turn into a star?

Connor and Justin are back for episode 122 of the Bucketheads Podcast, and for the fourth time in the show’s history, are joined by former Ohio State basketball player Joey Lane.
Lane was in Columbus this week for alumni week, and we asked him about what he saw. We discussed the culture that Diebler is trying to instill, the differences between the three coaches with alumni, and specific players like Bruce Thornton, Meechie Johnson, and Juni Mobley.
Before the Joey Lane interview, Justin pops in for a quick news update, including the injury to Taison Chatman and its fallout, Darryn Peterson scheduling an official visit, and the date of the Texas A&M game having been set.

The Land-Grant Holy Land theme this week is This or That, so Josh is asking Justin questions about the men’s basketball team and the football team and whether he would rather have This or That.
Before that, we discuss Neal Shipley finishing as the low amateur at the U.S. Open and the Masters Tournament, and Justin goes on a small rant about access to professional golf for amateurs. And it’s alumni week for the men’s hoops team.

Josh and Justin are back this week for Hangout in the Holy Land, and we are discussing What-If scenarios.
This is always an interesting topic because you can find examples from any season. However, we recently picked out two for football and two for basketball to discuss how, if a couple of things went differently, the history books could look different.
Before that, we discuss the U.S. Open, Dan Hurley staying at UConn, and the BOOM! that Ohio State Football just landed and why Tim Walton is such a successful recruiter.

Disclaimer: This is not betting advice! We do not bet so don’t bet your money on us. In this episode, we play a game. Dante has a hypothetical $1,800 and must bet $100 on each team in the conference. Oregon and Ohio State both have win totals set at 10.5 and they play each other, can either squad go 12-0 this season and exceed their win total? Penn State and Michigan are at 9.5, are both programs set for a step back this season? Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and UCLA, all have win totals under six wins. Someone from this group is sure to exceed their projected total and make a bowl game, who would you put your real or hypothetical money on?
In our news segment, we break down the new College Football Playoff schedule. Our main takeaway, this is not sustainable. We’re both excited for the 12-team playoff and more games but this calendar is awful and makes no sense. There is almost no chance this calendar will stay the same when the new contract begins in 2026. The first thing they need to do is start the season a week earlier and ensure that the national championship game is held before the spring semester starts at most colleges and universities across the country.
Former Ohio State Quarterback CJ Stroud was recently asked which career he would rather have, Aaron Rodgers or Eli Manning. Stroud answered Eli Manning and it has sparked a debate on the internet and the sports TV news cycle. The guys break down the numbers to see if Stroud was right in preferring Eli’s career over Rodgers.

This is episode 121 of Bucketheads, and for an impressive third time, we are welcoming Kevin Sweeney of Sports Illustrated and Field of 68 to help us recap everything that has happened this offseason.
We start with some general Big Ten talk, with a preview of the four teams joining the Big Ten, the retooled roster of Dusty May and Michigan, and who the team to beat in the conference is.
Then, we discuss Ohio State specifically. Which of the four new transfers could be most impactful? What are his thoughts on Bruce Thornton? What is this team's ceiling?
To close, we get his thoughts on the always underrated Kent State Golden Flashes.

After a week off and Josh relaxing in Florida, we are back for another episode of Hangout in the Holy Land. This week, the theme is players to watch. Who are some players on offense and defense that we are watching this year for Ohio State, and why are they on our minds?
Before that, we discuss Ohio State men’s basketball hiring Talor Battle as their final assistant, the upcoming Olympics, and the Memorial Tournament in Columbus this week since Justin will be on site.
And, of course, some banter that has nothing to do with anything on topic.

Unless you care about court cases or early season television schedules it’s been a slow week in the college football news space. Slow for everything not related to the new college football video game. EA Sports allowed a bunch of journalists to play the new game which led to massive new drops in features, gameplay, sights, and sounds. First things first, EA College Football ‘25 is a horrible name. Like Twitter, we will stubbornly be calling this game by its old name. With all of the time and effort spent making the game, unfortunately, they won’t just pay for the ‘NCAA’ branding. Aside from calling it by its rightful name, we would accept another “Madden” where they name the game after one of the best coaches of all time. Saban ‘25 has a nice ring to it.
So far EA Sports is winning the press conference, it’s naive to believe that this game is not going to be similar to Madden in any way seeing that they are both built on the same Frostbite gaming engine but if the reports are to be believed it is a unique product. Despite the positive news we still have questions, namely, will there be any sort of cut scenes and replays like the old game? How will the crowd noise affect gameplay? Plus, will the actual gameplay suffer due to the focus on visuals? If you care about the new video game and even if you don’t sit down with us as we walk through all the news and brainstorm the potential downfalls of trusting EA Sports to make a good game on the first try.

As the college football off-season rolls on, it’s the part of the year when less news out of the program is likely better. However, there are still some eventful things that have taken place since our last episode.
We start this show with a discussion of the Buckeyes who opted out. Six players are departing via the transfer portal after spring practice. We discuss those leaving and what it means for Ohio State. Dallan Hayden has to be the primary name among those leaving, and his was likely the brightest future in Columbus.
Following out transfer portal departure discussion, we check in on the 2024 recruits who are arriving on campus this summer. Although most of the incoming class arrived in the spring, there are some summer arrivals that fans shouldn’t sleep on.
While much of the discussion about transfers has to be devoted to the multiple folks leaving, there was a key arrival in the portal as well. Keenan Nelson was added to the Ohio State roster and he could be an upgrade in the depth department.
Ohio State will play the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field on Nov. 16. We’re not the biggest fans of the idea, although there isn’t a great substitute for games on campus in our view. Still, this one doesn’t excite us in the way some people seem to be fans of the announcement. We talk through this upcoming football game in a baseball facility.
Finally, we talked about a trio of former Buckeyes who were selected in the recent NFL Draft and have signed their first professional contracts. Marvin Harrison, Jr., Cade Stover, and Tommy Eichenberg are getting paid well to play football on Sundays now.
We’ll continue coming at you monthly in the college football off-season, with plans to return to our weekly schedule in August 2024. We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email.

It has been a heavy news week for college football as the sport continues to change in front of our eyes. In a landmark decision, the NCAA and the Power Five conferences have agreed to a settlement that will change the face of college athletics and let student athletes be paid. While there is not much information out just yet there will be more to come. Speaking of athletes getting paid EA Sports has finally released information about EA College Football ‘25 including its release date of July 19th, 2024. The game will also be bundled with Madden, it’s still early but there will surely be more information on the way soon.
TNT Sports, which is on its way to losing the media rights to the NBA, has agreed to sublicense College Football Playoff games from ESPN for the next five seasons. In non-football news, the WNBA has announced Toronto as the city for its 14th expansion team. The hope is for there to still be 16 teams before the 2026 season.
The 2024 season is getting close and while it’s not quite preview season it is a perfect time to look ahead at which games we’re looking forward to this year. In this episode, we rank the ten games that have us the most excited including Ohio State vs. Oregon and Michigan vs. USC. Whether we think it’ll be good games or we want a team we hate to lose this list of games already has our attention in May. Which games are on your radar this early?
