This week we are looking at Ephesians 3:14 - 4:16. We have been discussing how God has done so much for us. He has offered us his Grace and Mercy, and in response to that, he wants us to live a certain way.
In our passage last week, we saw that Paul transitioned into a discussion of Christ’s body, the church. Part of that discussion was the idea that in response to God’s grace and mercy, we will respond with certain individual actions. But he inserts a section before that to discuss how we are not to do the journey alone. Through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, he created a “new race of people” from the Jews and the Gentiles – the church. We will continue with that idea this week.
Here are the questions for this week:
* How can we “live a life worthy of our calling” as Paul mentions in the beginning of chapter four? How does he describe that worthy life?
* How do the qualities we mentioned display a mature faith? Take another look at verses 4–6.
* Why do you think Paul emphasizes “oneness” so much? In light of contention in the church, how does a conversation about the gifts of the Spirit promote unity? Would people brag about their own gifts? Why or why not?
* According to Ephesians 4:12–13, why has God given us these abilities and responsibilities? What is their purpose?
* Now as you think about the questions you’ve been considering about yourself—those abilities and passions God has given you— how can you use your gifts for the purposes mentioned in 4:12–13?

Welcome to the Second Men’s study of the year. We are going to be studying the book of Ephesians over the next 7 weeks. This will not be a verse-by-verse study, so we encourage you to read and study individually as well.
We encourage you to read the letter all the way through in one sitting. Read it as though you are are the first person to read it and you are reading as if Paul wrote it directly to you.
This week we are going through 1:15 – 2:10. Here are our questions for this week:
· What were the things that Paul specifically prayed for the Ephesian Christians?
· What does it mean to “know God better”? How does God’s Spirit make that happen?
· How can it be difficult to have the kind of Hope that Paul talks about?
· What does it mean when Paul says we were dead in our sins or transgressions? How would this differ from the way a lot of people see themselves today?
· Paul says we were deserving of wrath. Why?
· What is the significance of the two words, “But God”? What do verses 4 – 5 tell us about what changed?
· We see both mercy and grace mentioned in this passage. What’s the difference between the two?
· What do we learn about God’s grace here?
· Going out this week, how does this knowledge of God’s mercy and grace in our lives need to affect our actions?

Welcome to the Second Men’s study of the year. We are going to be studying the book of Ephesians over the next 7 weeks. This will not be a verse-by-verse study, so we encourage you to read and study individually as well.
We encourage you to read the letter all the way through in one sitting. Read it as though you are are the first person to read it and you are reading as if Paul wrote it directly to you.
This week we are going through 1:1-14. Here is a quick breakdown of this section.
* Verses 1-3 – Paul’s greetings
* Verses 4-8 – God’s blessings on those that he has chosen
* Verses 9 – 14 – God’s “mysterious plan” revealed
Questions for the week:
* Review vss. 3-10, what has God blessed us with?
* One of the key ideas in this passage is the idea of “adoption.” What does adoption mean in context here when God is doing the adopting?
* Grace is another key idea in this book. How does Paul start defining grace here? How would you define grace?
* Something else Paul talks about is the “mystery” of God’s plan. What is the “mystery”? Why do you think Paul refers to it like this?
* What does our identity as described in the first section (adopted children / heirs guaranteed by the Holy Spirit) mean to you as…A Christian? A man of God? A woman of God? An adopted child of God?

On this week’s episode Eric and Eric preview week 6 of our study following the video series “Your Time is Now” with Jonathan Evans on RightNow Media. In this final week of the study, Jonathan challenges us to “Press On.”
He asks us to consider these questions:
* When was the last time you gave up on something? Why didn’t you finish?
* Why are we tempted to give up when life gets hard?
* How can suffering impact our relationship with God?
* How can we persevere through hard times?

On this week’s episode Eric and Eric preview week 5 of our study following the video series “Your Time is Now” with Jonathan Evans on RightNow Media. This week, Jonathan challenges us to be patient and wait on God in our circumstances. This week may be more challenging than last week was!
He asks us to consider these questions:
* When have you been somewhere—maybe in a class or at an event—and you couldn’t wait to leave? How did you get through it?
* Why is it better to wait on God instead of going our own way? * How can waiting be the best way for us to move forward in life?
* In what ways does waiting help us rejoice in the plan God has for our life?
This week will be challenging because we struggle with waiting. We want things that we want when we want them, but sometimes God has other plans.

On this week’s episode Eric and Eric preview week 4 of our study following the video series “Your Time is Now” with Jonathan Evans on RightNow Media. This week, Jonathan challenges us to consider what is hindering us from following God’s call on our lives.
He asks us to consider these questions:
* What are some of the excuses we make for not listening to God’s call on our lives?
* How can your comfort zone keep you from following God?
* Why is faith in God important when you don’t know your final destination?
This week will be challenging because we all make excuses. We all have our comfort zones that we do not want to leave. And let’s be honest, as men most of want full details and want to consider all obstacles before we embark on a new journey. That is not what God calls us to.

Welcome to week 3 of our study of “Your Time is Now.” This week, we are focusing on how we need to trust God to use us even when we think there is no way that he can or would use us.
As you listen to the podcast and then watch the video, please consider these questions as you go in:
When have you felt left out (maybe in grade school or while playing sports)? What emotions did you experience from being left out?
How should we handle experiences from our past that made us feel unwanted?
What is the difference between how God sees us and how people see us?
In what ways can we observe a person’s heart by their actions?
Remember that God has a different perspective than we do on whom he uses and how he uses them, and he’s ready and willing to use you Right Now.
Below you will find links to the video and the study guide for the week. We look forward to talking with you soon!

In this week’s episode Eric and Eric recap week four of our study of the book “Fight” by Craig Groeschel as we prepare for the final video in the series. They hit some highlights from the week and noted some points of note from the book and from the study guide. They also highlight some key points from week 5.
This week, we will be focusing on week 5 of the video series and study guide. Week 5 is the most exciting video of the series because it shows the grace that God offered to Samson and the grace that God offers to each of us as men who constantly make mistakes. We get to see that even though we make mistakes, God can still us to fulfill his purposes. We also deal with the idea that “Failure is an event, it is never a person.”
If you are listening to this at a later time, here is a link to the book and study guide that we are going through.

This week, we will be focusing on week 4 of the video series and study guide. We are diving into the final mistakes that Samson makes before his fall to the Philistines.
A key thought continues to be, “Satan loves to make strong men weak. But God is in the business of making weak men strong.” We look forward to what God will shows us this week and how we can be the men of God he has called us to be.

This week, we will be focusing on week 3 of the video series and study guide. We are diving into three sub-stories in the life of Samson and will look at he so quickly succumbed to his anger and pride. We find out that we are not so different from the strong man after all.
A key thought again from this week is, “Satan loves to make strong men weak. But God is in the business of making weak men strong.” We look forward to what God will shows us this week and how we can be the men of God he has called us to be.
