On this episode of Small Screen Couch Commentary, Alex and Billy dive deep into The Boys Season 4, Episode 8, aptly titled "Season Four Finale" Buckle up, because this one’s filled with twists, shocking moments, and the usual dark humor that only The Boys can deliver.

The episode kicks off with a VNN broadcast where we learn that A-Train’s new movie has been canceled, much to Ashley’s delight as a tax write-off. The tone quickly shifts as Firecracker, The Deep, and Black Noir star in a cringeworthy "#AllLivesMatter" PSA, setting the stage for the madness to come. The real chaos starts with Hughie unknowingly proposing to a shape-shifting Supe disguised as Annie—a proposal that takes an awkward turn once the Shifter's disguise starts falling apart.

Meanwhile, Butcher faces a personal crisis in the hospital as he's visited by a hallucination of Kessler urging him to unleash the Supe-killing virus. Homelander, ever the drama king, finds a photo of Butcher and Becca in Ryan’s backpack, triggering a laser-fueled tantrum that sends Ryan running.

As the political stakes rise, Homelander drops a bombshell live on Firecracker's show by outing VP-elect Neuman as a Supe. The fallout is swift, leading to a scramble among The Boys to gather dirt on Neuman, only to find their evidence mysteriously gone. The real Annie, still chained up, breaks free in time for a brutal showdown with her shape-shifting doppelgänger, saving Hughie and the team in the process.

In true The Boys fashion, the episode ramps up with twists, turns, violence and mayhem. Things end with us all wondering the fate of everyone, good and bad as well as not being sure to feel about Butcher's actions. It is sad that it is over, for now.

Brace yourselves for an episode packed with wild twists, dark humor, and more shocking moments than you can shake a Compound V syringe at.

The episode kicks off with Billy Butcher and Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) interrogating Sameer, who’s chained up in an abandoned warehouse. Butcher's not holding back, inflicting pain on Sameer’s amputation stump to coerce him into making the virus. Meanwhile, Butcher's own illness is visibly worsening, adding a ticking clock to their desperate mission.

In a lighter subplot, Hughie and Daphne take a walking tour through New York to scatter Hugh Sr.'s ashes, hitting up the romantic comedy spots from "Maid in Manhattan." Their nostalgic journey is interrupted by a Hometruther harassing Annie, and things get darker as Kimiko is turned away from visiting Frenchie in prison.

Firecracker takes over Cameron Coleman's VNN timeslot, spewing absurd conspiracy theories as MM watches while talking to A-Train on the phone. A-Train reveals the truth about Coleman and more about what is happening at Vought. MM plans to infiltrate a gala at Tek Knight's estate, recruiting Hughie to disguise as the arachnid-powered Supe, Webweaver.

Homelander, Ryan, and the rest of the Seven arrive at Tek Knight's mansion for the gala. Hughie, now in Webweaver's smelly costume, is planting bugs around the mansion when he’s caught by Neuman. She doesn’t recognize him, and neither does Tek Knight, who’s excited to show off his TekCave to his new "sidekick."

Things take a bizarre turn as Tek Knight and Hughie tour the TekCave and things go from weird to worst. Welcome back to "Small Screen Couch Commentary" with your hosts, Alex and Billy! This week, we dive into the madness of The Boys Season 4, Episode 5, titled "Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son." Buckle up, folks, because this episode takes us on a wild ride through Vought's latest fan expo, heart-wrenching family moments, as well as Alex and Billy's latest theories about the show moving forward.

The episode opens with a Vought extravaganza, the V52 Expo. Cameron Coleman and The Deep kick things off on stage, revealing a slew of new Vought projects, including "Training A-Train" and "The Deep: Gods & Dolphins." Backstage, Homelander experiences traumatic flashbacks from his childhood and the events from the last episode. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Hughie is in disbelief over his father's miraculous recovery, thanks to a sneaky injection of Compound V by Daphne. Alex and Billy find it hilarious how Hughie, usually the voice of reason, is now tangled in yet another Vought-induced mess. Poor Hughie can't catch a break!

As the episode unfolds, we see Butcher and MM visiting former Vought CEO Stan Edgar in prison. Edgar, ever the puppet master, refuses to help until Butcher drops a bombshell about Neuman injecting her daughter with Compound V. Stan reluctantly decides to help them since he may get a presidential pardon out of the deal.

Back at the V52 Expo, things get even crazier. The Deep and Cameron Coleman promote a new diversity initiative that doesn't sit well with everyone in the audience.  Alex and Billy can't stop laughing at the absurdity of Vought's attempts to save face while digging themselves deeper into the PR disaster hole.

The episode reaches its apex with a chaotic showdown involving superpowered chickens and sheep. Yes, you read that right. The Boys team, along with Neuman and Edgar, battle these V-infused animals in a farmhouse. It's bloody, it's intense, and it's quintessential The Boys.

But the real emotional moment comes from Hughie, his father and now seemingly less estranged mother, Daphne. Hughie’s heartfelt confession about his childhood hero being his dad is a gut-wrenching moment, beautifully acted by Jack Quaid and Simon Pegg.

The episode ends with Butcher making a morally gray decision, leading to Alex's new theory piggybacking off of Billy's from the last episode.  Could there be any truth to what Alex believes is really happening?

Join Alex and Billy as they break down the shocking moments, hilarious scenes, and the emotional gut-punch that is "Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son." With their signature humor and insightful commentary, they navigate the twisted world of The Boys, ensuring you catch every detail. Meanwhile, at the hospital, tensions run high. Annie sits by the bedside of a friend attacked by Homelander’s supporters, while Hughie confronts his mother, now a Vought MLM consultant, over family betrayals.

Cate and Sam think it's the former, much to the chagrin of their former friends and lovers, who are left reeling from the carnage.
