So guys, today I want to talk about how to deepen the partnership you want to develop with trades. By trades, I mean Builders, cabinet makers etc.
1. PROACTIVELY SHOWCASE YOUR TRADE PARTNERS WORK
- Ensure they are included in published articles
- Interview them for your blog/podcast or just for an Instagram live
2. SHOW THEM HOW GOOD PARTNERSHIPS SHOULD WORK
- Lead by example. Most trades don’t proactively look to highlight designers, They don't mean to be thoughtless, but yes, there is thoughtlessness. I talk how to change that.
- Highlight Instagram posts that have not included you the Designer! Keep you trades accountable by letting them know the how this should work. Don't assume they will naturally know.
- Thank them for any referrals or enquiries
3. MAINTAIN CONTACT
- Refer anyone you can to your trusted trades to support their business. This is the best way to support reciprocation.
- Create a partnership package. Can you offer finishes schedules that help joiners/builders get their clients over the line?
- Keep in touch appropriately

The topic for today is – “Website Essentials” with Sydney based Web Designer Zoe Scott from Sydney based boutique design agency 'The Design Order'. Listen to Zoe's must haves to consider before creating or refreshing your website in 2024.
Big takeaways for me were
1. Get rid of the wordy copy.
- We need to explain who we are and what we do, but we don't need to rattle on about it at length. No one wants to read pages of copy on a website and it complicates the look and feel as well. Focus on to the point wording, wth specific words that drive SEO and ensure what you are saying is succinct, not ramble. Seek the services of a good copywriter with SEO experience should your budget allow.
2. Don't blog unless you love writing and will keep it up.
-Sure blogging can support SEO if you use keywording, but unless you love to sit and blog for hours, this should avoided.How many out of date blogs have you read over the years? The momentum is usually there in the beginning, but most drop writing the blog on a consistent basis. Old blogs will date your website so have a long thing about this before committing.
3. Hire a professional if you have the budget
-Zoe provides some great DIY resources if you need to set up a website yourself, but if you can possible manage to get help from a professional-get it.
Having a professional website will support your feelings of being worthy from the get go. This is especially important as you start out, so seek professional help unless you really have the time and taken to set up your website properly. Your website is your online shop front!

In this episode I cover two reasons you should absolutely should seek out a coach, then one little thing I'd like you to look out for before you sign up with your coach...
1- Your coach will help take 'the blinders' off your ideasA coach can help greatly with our 'blind spots' by giving us ideas for ways to improve ourselves that we aren't able to see for ourselves. The results can be extraordinary.
2- Seek a coach who’s achieved what you want to achieve
I chose my current coach because she had 'lived' the experience that I needed to build and fine tune from scratch. Its extremely common to get excited by working with somebody who has already achieved the things you are not sure you will ever be able to. Getting a coach that has gone through what you are dying to experience is a very important part of our success. if they've done it, they can certainly help you to do it!
Q 3- AVOID: Coaching without a roadmapMany coaches offer a package of sessions without a plan. This is ok if you are happy going where the wind blows that week, but generally unplanned programs, or 'blocks of sessions' aren't the best route to take. I discuss this in more detail in the show...
