Ellie Campbell is a mom of two, wife, photographer, writer, copy editor… and very much a worrier. Having dealt with anxiety since she was very young, she has spent decades working on it with therapists and reading countless books and articles on the topic. Today we welcome Dr Stephen Whiteside. Dr Whiteside is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Pediatric Anxiety Disorders Program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His research focuses on improving access to evidence-based care for pediatric anxiety disorders and obsessive–compulsive disorder through the development of effective and efficient treatments facilitated by technology. Dr. Whiteside serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Anxiety Disorders and on the Education and Training Committee of the Minnesota Psychological Association. He has published over 60 scientific articles and is the codeveloper of the Mayo Clinic Anxiety Coach, a smartphone app that aids in the delivery of exposure.

Social anxiety is no joke. For anyone that suffers from it continuously, it can be severely debilitating and cause your life to shrink smaller and smaller. So what can we do about it? What if we could identify anxiety in young children and intervene before it really had a chance to become entrenched? Dr. Nicholas Mian is our guest today to talk about how he does just that.
