RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is one of the most common viruses that cause coughs and colds. It circulates widely in the UK in the autumn and winter months, peaking in December. Almost all children are infected with the virus by the time they’re two years old.
RSV may cause a cough or cold in children and adults, but in young children it is the main cause of bronchiolitis. In fact, it’s the most common cause of bronchiolitis in children aged under two.
In this episode, our health lead Amanda explains how to spot the signs of RSV and what you can do to alleviate them, including when to get advice from your doctor or help from emergency services.

From 22 November 2021, children under the age of 16 in Scotland can no longer make a new claim for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and instead need to make a claim for the new benefit Child Disability Payment.

The Scottish Child Payment is a new benefit, providing low income families in Scotland with a payment of £10 per week for each child in their family who is aged under six. Applications open in November 2020, with payments due to start at the end of February 2021.
