The Monstie Men dip a toe into the Public Domain as they talk about the original Nosferatu, a silent German Expressionist black & white film that was supposed to be destroyed over a century ago. Luckily, some keen theater owner had kept a print to themselves, and piracy has let it proliferate over the years. Nosferatu is probably the creepiest monster we've covered yet, even if he's Temu Dracula.

The OG Monstie Men are back to get medieval on the Evil Dead series by talking about 1992's Army of Darkness! For this special Halloween treat, Mycycle Kenny is back on the show, chatting it up with Dr Giggles & The Kid. Definitely the biggest swing in the Evil Dead franchise, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, & Co get away from the cabin & get into the castle, telling a totally bonkers swashbuckling action period piece with just enough monsters and goofs so you don't get confused.
This is the version of Nosferatu (1922) that we watched for the next episode.

The Monstie Men are joined by writer & comedian Chelsea Dallas Falato to talk about what may just be Sam Raimi's greatest film. *TW: there is brief discussion of sexual assault about midway through the episode*
In 1981, five friends went to a cabin in the backwoods of Tennessee. What became of them became horror movie legend. Before the boomstick, there was The Evil Dead, a video nasty that would start Sam Raimi's ascent in Hollywood & make Bruce Campbell the genre luminary he is today. The Monstie Men tuck in for this brilliant, nasty masterpiece.
As mentioned in the episode here's thesuper no budget short film James made for a film festival

It's Gary's birthday, so James has gifted him with the incredible 2004 zombedy Shaun of the Dead from minds of Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg. Being lifelong best friends, it just fits that the Monstie Men's first zombie movie is about best friends? Join us for a reclamation of Prince's Batman soundtrack, and remember...dogs CAN look up.

The Monstie Men head to Merry Olde England for their first alien invasion! his movie is widely available for free online, but that doesn't mean that it won't look more pixelated than an NES being played on an 8K tv. This one's admittedly a weird one, but it does seem like it's a foundational film.
Talking points: carnivorous plants, Unbreakable, saltwater hoses, A Quiet Place Day One, Unbreakable, Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor, and Unbreakable.
Stay tuned to the end to find out what Gary's birthday movie's going to be!

It's James's birthday, so it was Gary's job to pick a gift episode for him and boy, did he deliver! The Monstie Men are big Buffy (the show) fans from way back, but it's been a long time since either of them had watched the Kristy Swanson/Luke Perry(RIP)/Paul Reubens(RIP)/Rutger Hauer(RIP) cult classic. Join us, Lil Monsties, for this early-90s classic(?).

Sad to say, but it's the last episode of the Stephen Summer. But don't fret, Lil Monsties: we're going out with an absolute banger. Geekscape's very own Matt Kelly (host of Weird Al-Gorithm, White People Problems, Horror Movie Night, to name a few) join the Monstie Men to talk about the rip roaring, terror on the high seas cult classic Deep Rising! We mourn the late, great Treat Williams, talk about his full haptic video game chair, and share our fears of being attacked on the toilet. This movie's an absolute banger, folks.

Hey Lil Monsties, the penultimate episode of the Stephen Summer is here! The Monstie Men are joined by friend of the show & horndog-for-vampires Alessia Dawn to talk about Van Helsing, which is absolutely a movie that was made...and nobody can take that away from them. This one goes off the rails in the best possible way.

The Stephen Summer just can't stop with a movie that is definitely not a monster movie, but it maybe, perhaps, possibly could be considered monstrous...and that's good enough, right? But what it does is give us the chance for an inter-Geekscape crossover! Today, the Monstie Men are joined by Chris from Bulletproof Action (both the Podcast & Website). We wax poetically about our love of GI Joe, and also about this "movie." Y'all, Brendan Fraser said that his character was Rick O'Connell's grandson once, and that's good enough for us.

*Editor's note: James's audio is bad in this one, and we are so sorry*
The Stephen Summer continues with another Stephen behind the camera. This week, the Monstie Men are joined by author of the upcoming graphic novel Youth Group, Jordan Morris (Jordan Jesse Go, Free with Ads)! We talk about a little indie movie called Jaws by this up & coming director named Stevie Spielberg. You probably never heard of it & who knows if he's got a career after this one. I heard the shark doesn't even work right in this thing. Y'all know that the beaches are open & Amity means friendship?

The Stephen Summer barrels on with the final entry of the Mummy Trilogy (so far, at least) with a movie that wasn't directed by Stephen Sommers! This time, the Monstie Men are joined by Asa Waggoner, from the Californian ska band For the Record. Rob Cohen's entry into the Mummyverse has been derided in the 16 years since the movie's release, and while Asa definitely agrees with the masses, what do the Monstie Men think?

The Stephen Sommer heats up as the Monster Rally goes international with our special guest this week: internationally known, locally tolerated, Toronto's favorite redhead, Red Herring! Red & the Monstie Men dive into The Mummy Returns, the sequel to the perfect(?) modern classic The Mummy. Is it as maligned as some claim? Is it a hidden gem? Why's The Rock in it? Why doesn't Gary eat cheeseburgers? When will Red become the third host? Get ready for a wild ride!

TW: allergies are the absolute worst, so there's some awful background sounds at parts of the episode, and we did our best to take them out, but...we're sorry.
The time has finally come...a promise made at the very outset of this show: The Monstie Men are sitting across the table from each other to talk about the 1999 Stephen Sommers masterpiece, The Mummy. Do we have huge crushes on Rachel Weisz, Brendan Fraser, & Oded Fehr? Don't you? Don't we all? In a year jam packed with tons of incredible movies, why is this the best one? And why is it so closely tied to Leonardo DiCaprio? LET THE STEPHEN SUMMER BEGIN!

*Trigger Warning: this movie deals heavily with domestic abuse, and it is discussed in the episode.*
James & Gary close out their miniseries about Universal's Dark Universe-adjacent movies as they talk about Blumhouse's 2020 hit, The Invisible Man, starring Elizabeth Moss & Aldis Hodge. It's an interesting modern take on the classic HG Wells story, and it makes the Monstie Men ask the question: Are there any other classic Universal monsters that would benefit from this stripped-down, modern take that completely reimagines the original? Let's be honest...probably not, but maybe this episode description is lying. I'll never tell.

This week on the Bob Iger Podcast, the Monstie Men are joined by their good friend & noted Kaiju Preservationist, Professor Matthew Sloyan, DKS (Doctor of Kaiju Studies), better known as the YouTube sensation GreenWitEvil! Gary & James lean *heavily* on Matt's wide breadth of Godzilla knowledge as he explains pretty much the entire lore of the Monsterverse, Gary is deeply involved in the Titans' love lives, and James asks the most important question: Are Godzilla & Gamera friends?
Next episode's movie will be The Invisible Man (2020), Blumhouse's take on the classic HG Wells tale.

The Monstie Men witness the birth (and death) of the Dark Universe TM. This is it folks: the first, and only, entry into the Dark Universe canon: a Mummy movie that can't tell if it's a rip-roaring adventure movie or a horror movie or an Avengers knock-off. Does Gary love it? Does James hate it? Are these leading questions? Welcome to a new world of gods & monsties.
