  • The Manton Park race track was opened in 2023.

Located just outside Townsville, up in the far north of Queensland, this project has been a long time coming and a major step in providing proper track facilitaties for the folk up there.

In this episode Jorge talks about his recent experience riding that track on a BMW S1000RR. The track might still be considered to be 'green' having only been used a small number of times. As Jorge says, it is definitely the smoothest asphalt track he has ever ridden on.

A highly technical track that runs clockwise for around 2.7 kilometres, the track presents an "interesting puzzle" for the serious rider wanting to go fast.

The Road Racing Association of Townsville (RRAT), runs the motorcycle events at this track and as Jorge says, put on a perfect, professionally run weekend event that gave him the opportunity to go and take a look, get a feel for it, meet people from the club, and open the throttle fully on the beemer.

It will help us understand why some of the fastest and most successful racers in the world have a flat track racing back ground (Kenny Roberts, Casey Stoner etc), or they practice frequently on flat track (Valentino Rossi, Pecco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez etc) and on motocross tracks (Alex and Marc Marquez, Jack Miller etc).—————

  • What is the most powerful motorcycle in the world today?

I always want to know which bike is the fastest and most powerful, typical of the average bike junkie I guess. So I did some research and decided I would rank bikes based on Power to Weight ratio (i.e. horsepower / wet weight). Agree or disagree, it doesn't matter. I found the results quite interesting as you might.

I also found out that the most powerful bike is not the one I thought it would be.

  • Aidan Clarke is our guest on this episode.

Aidan is the founder of SA1NT, a clothing company based in Melbourne, Australia. In this episode he tells the story of how the company came about, and what its focus is in the world of motorcycle rider safety.

What prompted this conversation was our recognition that the SA1NT Moto products are quite unique, incredibly fashionable, super high quality, and simply one of the coolest brands. And we wanted to know more about it and get the story directly from the founder.

The best way to convey what this company is about is to simply provide the same information that is provided on their website - https://www.saint.cc/

“SA1NT evolved from a mission to design apparel without compromise. Originally developed for motorcycle riders, SA1NT was built on a passion to innovate technical fabrics and fuse them with everyday style and comfort. In the past, riders either sacrificed style for safety or worse, safety for style. SA1NT eliminated this compromise by introducing the world’s first single layer, CE approved motorcycle denim. Tailored style, UNBREAKABLE strength.

The result of more than 12 months of research and development, SA1NT’s UNBREAKABLE denim was the world’s first CE approved, single layer denim. Blending denim with Dyneema®, (the same fibre that tethers space shuttles, armours helicopters and stops bullets), SA1NT created a fabric capable of sliding down the road for 6 seconds, without compromising comfort and style.”

There you go, that's SA1NT. Enjoy the conversation.

  • Brad Smith - Brad is founder and CEO of Braaap Motorcycles. His entrepreneurial spirit was revealed at a young age when he started Braaap from a backyard shed in his early teens. He imported his first 10 motorcycles at 16, and then lost all his money.

Most people would have given up, but not this guy.

He saved his money, then travelled overseas where he met with manufacturers face to face, with the goal of finding a manufacturing partner who could produce the bike he had designed.

After being laughed out of more than 50 factories Brad finally found a manufacturer who believed in him and his vision. And that turned his dream into reality to become what we know today as Braaap Motorcycles.

Occasionally we get to meet someone who really leaves an impression. And that is exactly what happened here when George met Brad and had the chance to chat with him about his life with Braaap Motorcycles.

    ABOUT BRAAAP MOTORCYCLES

Braaap is an Australian motorcycle company that was founded in Tasmania in 2005. The Braaap story is very cool as they are a family business that is very clearly shaking up the motorcycle industry.

At Braaap (pronounced brarp), they design and develop their own motorcycles. R&D is also completed locally utilising Australian engineering standards.

They produce and assemble the motorcycles themselves, and use “Australian Engineering and global manufacturing efficiencies to produce a world class motorcycle that is backed by a Lifetime Warranty.”
