In a world where instant gratification often overshadows the slow and sacred process of spiritual growth, the notion of being an "Instant Shamman" challenges us to confront our desire for quick fixes and superficial understanding.
Today, step into the circle with me and Grandmother Láné Saán Moonwalker as we journey through the depths of indigenous wisdom and ancestral knowledge.
We explore:
Grandmother's personal journey through the deserts and her profound connection to the sacred beings of the land. Experiences of transformation and awakening. Grandmother's reflections on deprogramming from colonization. The concept of the "Instant Shaman" and the process of achieving spiritual growth through multiple levels. The parallels between resistance from loved ones and life in the desert. Fostering a deep communion with divine energies amidst discomfort. Embracing discomfort as a catalyst for self-discovery and radical self-love.Become a patron of Walking With our Shadow today. Some might say our qualifications don’t matter, our degrees don’t matter, but our stories do. I invite you to join me in circleness today as we sit in conversation with Clarinda Tivoli, a Pasifika Dancer, Sailor & Decolonizing Business Educator, to share and to talk story.
Are you ready to take a toe tip with us today to start to tend to YOUR story?

Clarinda’s powerful creation story The difference between a story from an island vs a “mainland” story How the flow of being someone from the Pacific can help people on the mainland to find roots THIS thing that Clarinda wishes for everybody What a floating practice in Hawaii opened up for her The difference between storytelling and storykeeping and why storykeeping is so helpful in our current climate How to jump out of the “content creation treadmill” and step into a more indigenous style of storykeeping What happens when you avoid your own creation story

Creation stories are powerful, and there’s something beautiful about reflecting on them and our journey to ourselves. In today’s circle, I invite you to join me for this conversation with Malu-Kanoa as we explore her own journey of self as a Black queer person, the sacred magic of names, and the beauty of grief and death.

Join me in the circle today as we welcome in the idea of cultural exchange, immediacy, “value”, and protocol.
I’m exploring:
Why there’s been a pause in the podcast and what’s to come from this circle What your biosphere involves The misconception about cultural exchanges What access does and doesn’t mean Having exchanges with people outside of our own circles and what it actually means to have a “good” exchange The wound of value and how it shows up Why I use the term “slow medicine” and “agenda” in my circles The importance and richness of having cultural exchanges Why those from the West come to indigenous circles What happens when we don’t recognize cultural exchangesBecome a patron of Walking With our Shadow today. How can you be the medicine? How can you reject what the modern world has taught you and, instead, find what you need within yourself? Are you struggling to understand what this phrase even means or where to start? Then join me today for an exploration of this concept of medicine. Together, we’ll consider how our modern society is attempting to extract it without acknowledgement and how you can start taking steps to be your own medicine as you begin your journey to radical self-love, acceptance, and healing. I invite you to pause, reconnect, and do the work to find your truth. Let’s get started.
I’m exploring:
How the modern world’s approach to finding medicine is missing the point and can lead to greater harm The perspective of an Indigenous woman with a special reading Colonization as a part of the human condition: Why must one conquer? Can there be another way? How to let go of martyrdom as a form of generosity and goodness and, instead, be true to who you are, as you are Reciprocity with Mother Nature: Are you taking without giving back? Breath work to detach from trying to fix yourself or others, but instead learning about self as you begin your healing journey And moreAsha Frost’s book: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/676167/you-are-the-medicine-by-asha-frost/

The journey to healing can be a long one and for those called onto The Medicine Path, those asked to weave their knowledge and experiences to help others, it can be easy to prioritize filling other's cups before your own. This week I’m bringing back one of my most popular episodes with a guest that shows us that the healing journey is one that never ends; one that asks to remain students of life and become our own medicine first. In today's episode, I welcome to the circle healer, badass and amazing human being Ash Bell. Ash is a healer from Melbourne Australia with experience in Tibetan Sound Healing, Reiki, and facilitating Cacao Ceremonies. With a background in Social Work, Ash weaves together these different modalities in order to support people to heal, find their light, lift the soul and stay grounded. Join us for today's episode where Ash shares more about her creation story, how her journey in self healing lead her to helping others, her relationship with ceremonial Cacao, and what being a student in a circle means.
We're exploring:
Ash's creation story (and how being a cancer survivor has changed her life and practices) How her personal healing journey put her on the path to help heal others (and why it's important for healers to fill their cups first) The one practice that has helped her deepen her practices Ways that Ash is learning to navigate being a star being while having a human experience The partnership between Cacao and Sound Healing What is means to be a student in a circle And so much more!Find out more about Ash Bell:

Things are always going to be changing. It’s ok to grieve and let go. But you can choose what to do with your grief. Will you choose to pour more love into it? To create something even more beautiful than you can imagine? That’s the journey that our guest has chosen to take.
Today we welcome Vesna Vavladellis back to the circle to have a conversation around what it means to be trained in an indigenous way, what it means to be in a circle and to learn and have access to that, and to explore grief and how it can go hand in hand with love.
In this episode we’re exploring:
The different kind of work required to lead indigenous circles What first brought Vesna to my circles The different way we look at breath in indigenous circles The Path of IX’s new ceremony which Vesna is a ceremonialist in, From Grief to Freedom, and her passage with grief What it looks like to walk through ancestral grief and how it’s shown up in Vesna’s life Her journey of 40 days of mourning How food has helped Vesna on this journey What happens when you take a leap into the unknown And so much more

How do you breathe? It happens without intention, direction, or focus—but this simple, innate action connects us beyond our biology. Each breath is a miracle, and if you seek wholeness, I have a technique for you to try. In this episode, I’m sharing the story of breath as a practice & connection, how to invite cohesiveness into all of your parts, and a guided meditation of The 3 Breaths for your personal practice.
I’m exploring:
Why some groups believe in the power of each single breath How humans and societies have devolved away from the 1 breath A historical context for how the meaning of the soul has evolved (and why its separation was KEY for colonization) Why I teach The 3 Breaths (and why other practitioners love it, too!) As we change, grow and evolve, as we walk our medicine path we often encounter the waters of our trauma and grief. Some of these wounds run deep and need more time to heal but we sometimes cannot see the layers necessary for healing. Sometimes we speak from what we think is a fixed wound but what is underneath is still building up. The lesson here is that life is truly a journey of stages and therefore things take time. Recovering from a wound takes time.
Today's plática is one that had been brewing for over six months. The energía that we invite to sit with us in the circle today has many names: awakening, trauma, grief but today we will simply call it a wound.
Join me as we revisit this conversation where we talk about the work necessary to identify and heal our wounds. Tune in as I share a technique woven together in indigenous practice to help you: peel back the layers necessary for healing, stop taking on other people's waters and find a path to YOUR healing.
I'm sharing:
Why it's important to accept the stages of trauma and grief The importance of recognizing that others may be on a different path in their healing journey An indigenous diagnostic tool to help you look at your trauma and grief (even when it is overwhelming) How to use this tool to identify the layers of your wound (and how this can help you focus on your own healing first) Ways that we can learn to approach ourselves and others with mercy, compassion and grace as we walk our healing paths. A grounding meditation to help you stop carrying other people's wounds and find the path to your OWN healingBecome a patron of Walking With our Shadow today. Miracles happen in co-creation. They happen when people come from different ways of being and find a way to build again; to understand and learn from each other. And today I invite you to join me in Circle for an incredible conversation about this idea with Dr. Hilary Booker, a multi-disciplinary artist, scientist, researcher, teacher, and multi-genre writer as well as a holistic wellness coach who specializes in biocultural diversity, decolonization, traditional/indigenous ecological knowledge and healing systems, and so much more.
In this episode you’ll hear:
Dr. Hilary’s amazing story around her journey of decolonization (that started in a prison in the Caribbean!) The first time she really questioned her positionality in the world Marita and Dr. Hilary exploring the subtleties and complexities of decolonization and colonialism Why healing, spiritual, and decolonization journeys aren’t actually individual One of the primary things keeping many people from making the shift from a human-centric way of being to a nature-centric one Dr. Hilary’s favorite concepts from Caribbean literature Why the idea of “the melting pot” isn’t it (and what real diversity actually looks like) And so much more!Connect with Dr. Hilary:

What lessons can we learn from the planets? The stars? What can they teach us about being a good animal in this life?
As we enter into Circle today, I invite you to join me in this conversation with a phenomenal astrologer and dreamwalker, Ananda Sykes. Ananda is a mystic, metaphysician, astrologer, dreamwalker, folk witch, guide, and mentor with a unique comedic warmth. Her love of myth, folklore, ancient history, and arcane knowledge and her awareness of the Otherworlds began in early childhood as she befriended trees, sky, fire, and the spirits that surrounded her in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. And today we’ll consider the lessons the planets can teach us and how to come back home to yourself.
In this episode, we explore:
The lessons the planets can teach us What hidden wisdom Ananda can find in astrological charts Recognizing planets as beings The pendulum swing of responsibility in relationship Reconnecting to the “savage” inside of yourself Mayan vs Western astrology and cosmology Ananda’s experience being raised with both New Age and indigenous ways of spirituality And more!
