Senior Content Lead for the New Zealand Olympic Team Laura Overton played a key role in bringing New Zealand's Olympic successes onto our social media and digital feeds with her incredible work alongside the athletes at last year's Paris Olympics.
While she was back in the south to document Ellyse Andrew's performances at the Track Cycling Nationals in Invercargill we chatted to her about how she ended up in the role and get a whole heap of great Olympic content from her (which makes sense).

WE ARE BACK! As non-commital as we were about our return dates, there was just too much great sport over the holiday break and when you get the chance to chat with the person who probably had the biggest impact on the national sporting scene you take it!
Cricketer Jacob Duffy starred for the Black Caps in their T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka so we chat with the man himself on being part of the historic test series victory in India last year, his Man of the Series performance against Sri Lanka and his passionate support of Logan's campaign to rename the Otago Volts!

We bring the curtain down on the first year of The Roar with an incredible conversation. Finn Mtichell was 25% of the FEAR Youth Adventure Racing Team that has just returned from trekking through Ecuadorain jungle and mountains to finish sixth in the World Adventure Racing Championships.
It is a truly remarkable story of just what the human body is capable of if you have the mental toughness and resilience. Try and get your head around these numbers - 650 kilometres, 20,000 metres of elevation, four hours sleep over four days. Yeah we can't either! Finn's interview starts at the 40'30 mark.
Before then, Logan, Nathan and Nick hand out their Inauguarl Goldies, named in honour of Southland's most famous sporting talent, recognising (most of) the best and fairest across an incredible year for Southland sport. Who is most likely to smash it in 2025, our Rising Star, Performance of the Year, Podcast Guest of 2024 (spoiler alert: we couldn't choose one) and of course the Golden Goldie (we need a better name) as SPortsperson of the Year.
Thank you so much for coming along for the ride with us since March. We've had a blast and we can't wait for more great Southland sporting yarns in 2025. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the three of us to you and your families.
Logan, Nathan & Nick -

Going to two World Junior Track Cycling Championships is a great feat. Medalling at both is something again. You can't fault the Stags' script-writer. Southland farewelled their season with a record-breaking day at Bekhuis Park on Saturday as the Stags put 59 points on North Harbour.
Coach and Rugby Southland's Director of Rugby Matt Saunders joins us to look back at the finale and reflect on the 2024 season in a warts and all straight-up conversation on the good the bad and most importantly what happens now.
Before then, Logan, Nathan & Nick look at that incredible result, award the third annual Golden Antlers (our Stags' end of season awards), Guy Molloy's decision not to return to the Southland Sharks and a big weekend which included a Silver Ferns' netball test, the Yunca Junior cycle Tour of Southland and some sporting names who turned up in Stewart Island for the Rakiura Challenge.

Before then Logan, Nathan and Nick take a look at a tough week for the Stags, Josh Bekhuis' incredible longevity and what a debacle NZR's judicial process seems to be.

All of us can lay claim to be Stags' fans, but none of us go to the level that this week's guest does and has every year since 1999. Since then, Lindsay Beer has hardly missed a Stags' game, no matter where or when they are playing in New Zealand.
We chat through his love for the Stags, just what makes this team special and get some great yarns from his 25 years supporting the men in maroon.
Before then Logan, Nathan & Nick talk through the Stags hearty effort against Canterbury, five Southlanders picked for national age group and secondary school honoiurs, a big weekend for the Southland Rams rugby league team and an incredible effort from Old Boys AFC in earning promotion to the Southern Premier Football League in 2025.
