I am always thrilled when I find women who are bucking the system in their 60’s and older.
I feel this way because two women, Rosalind Severin McClean and Patt O’Neil are very different writers. Yet they are women of a certain age in their 60’s and seventies. They have chosen the literary paths to share tales, poetry, idea. In turn they show the world that us seniors still have a lot to offer.
Ms. McClean has four titles of note: OCEANS of THOUGHTS Book one, Two and Three. Her latest publicatio, Book Four, is a charming and adventurous children’s book: The Little Pianist. Lessons from the Monarch Butterfly
Recently I learned in an accidental “experiment”, how to increase the birth and release of Monarchs by twenty times the usual low number. I have a Monarch butterfly garden at our GULFPORT COMMUNITY GARDEN for three years. The "birth rate" has only been a few butterfies.
Amazingly, though, here are two lessons that you can glean from this incident with a new volunteer fellow gardener:
First: Don’t let anyone tell you that you are WRONG especially when they first meet you! Trust in your OWN RESEARCH AND EXPERTS.
Second: When working with MOTHER NATURE’S CREATIONS, if you DISCOVER a better way to IMPROVE the lives and habitat of an endangered species, SHARE your discovery with others…

We all have situations where we find ourselves having sweaty palms, butterfly stomachs and anxiety.
The most common situation is Public Speaking. I have been making presentations for over thirty years. Largely in the wine industry and as the owner of Le Petit Chateau inn, which required a smooth delivery. Furthermore I was a Toastmaster for thirty years in Texas, California, New York, Florida
Here are some quick tips to calm your nerves:
1) It is natural to be anxious and afraid in new situations. Just don't stay there!
2) People are in awe of others and you whenever you exhibit courage in uncomfortable situations. This is especially true with public speaking.
3) Get rid of those FILLER words: AH, AND, SO , LIKE
These utterances detract from your message making people less attentive.

That transaction of selling the first house will trigger a capital gain tax. And it can be wicked. At Our Age… we are downsizing and selling our stuff: Our primary residence, vacation rentals, rental properties. Possibly renting now or moving into a condo with no maintenance.
I am experiencing the shock, actually, of realizing a huge Capital Gain Tax from owning rental properties and an inn for twenty two years in new York. I am sharing the journey with folks as I believe a lot of folks do not prepare for this large taxable event.
My personal advice is to know this : you can only deduct the last three years of improvements before the sale. Therefore keep really good records of any improvements and other deductions that will lessen the Capital Gains Tax. I am now working with a TAX EXPERT ( Sheree White) because the accountants did not know how to work with Capital Gains Tax. She is also an IRS enrolled agent which makes her qualified to manage the issues. Moreover.. SHE TALKS TO THE IRS so you don’t have to be on the phone with them for hours. While this lifestyle can be exciting and rewarding, it also comes with its challenges. Digital Nomads stats
16.9 million (USA) have “ditched the office” for this new adventurous work and lifestyle. Double that world wide for this trend.
These folks are not living paycheck to paycheck either. According to Nick’s research on average, their monthly income is $4.5 (USA).
People think that the digital nomad life is for the young and adventurous. Not so. Their numbers increasingly are 50’s and 60’s because they want to work but on their own projects, their own time, their own location.
