An in-depth analysis of one of the most important air disasters in history, the 1982 crash of Air Florida Flight 90 in Washington D.C. On January 13th 1982, Air Florida flight 90, a Boeing 737-200, crashed seconds after takeoff from National Airport in Washington D.C. Briefly becoming airborne, it struggled to climb away in heavy snow and started to drop like a stone. The plane clipped a bridge, killing 4 people in their vehicles, before slamming into the frozen Potomac River. There were only 5 survivors. What went wrong?
