In this episode, I discuss how to discover gnosis by dropping your opinions and learning to be honest with yourself. As part of this episode, I'll be guiding you through a quick exercise that better details the "neti neti" method and what it truly entails.

On this episode of The Alchemical Mind, I take a look at the Eastern influence on early Christian thought, and the similarities between mystical experience and the recognition of the divine and the self. We will take a look at the Kena Upanishad along with some of the writings of Pseudo-Dionysius The Aeropagite to make connections between these two traditions, and how the neti neti method - or agnosia as Pseudo-Dionysius called it - can be used to understand who we really are.

On today's episode of The Alchemical Mind, I take a look at tribalism. Why do we create tribes, what are their purpose, and how can we be members of a tribe while maintaining critical thinking skills and not relegating our authority to them. While not necessary, it may be worthwhile listening to the previous episode, Understanding Open-Mindedness And The Quest For Truth, in order to grasp some of the points of this discussion.

For this episode of The Alchemical mind, we dive into some practical theory with a look at open-mindedness.
What is open-mindedness and why is it a prerequisite in order to properly analyze evidence and understand truth? This is a key episode in our understanding of some upcoming topics including understanding tribalism, memetics and mind viruses, cult psychology, fear, and more. Even if you believe yourself to be an open-minded person, this episode may have you rethinking whether you are truly open-minded or not.

On this episode of The Alchemical Mind, it's time to look at some of the practical applications of finding gnosis as I take a look at how we can determine what is and isn't true. This is not some esoteric view of finding some sort of "ultimate Truth," but rather some simple things we can do to analyze information and weed out false information.
In part 2 of this series, we begin by discussing the story about the fiery dragon in the garage from Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark before diving into some of the philosophical fallacies to watch out for when analysis information to be true. I conclude the episode with a fantastic bit from George Carlin on weasel words that wraps the discussion up nicely.
If you missed part 1, you can listen to it here. I also reference my series on finding an regaining your own authority which you can find links to below. You Are It: Understanding That You Are The Ultimate Authority I Am That I Am: Authority And Religion

We begin this series by examining Carl Sagan's baloney detection kit from his book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark and how we can use the scientific method in to determine if something is "true" or not - even when dealing with spiritual, philosophical, and other epistemological endeavors.
I do mention a terrific interview with Tim Freke which you can find here. I also reference my series on finding an regaining your own authority which you can find links to below.
