  • Meet the HSHV Pet of the week at https://www.hshv.org/petsoftheweek-2/

Hi my name is Raine! It feels like I've been hanging out at HSHV forever, and guess what? I'm now up for adoption at no cost! ⁣

I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. I will seek comfort from my favorite people while I work on my confidence. If you think you could be my new bestie, let's make it happen—you'd totally complete my world!⁣

All the animals available for adoption through the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations and have a microchip I.D. which is included in their affordable adoption fee.⁣

The B2B Trail is a 42-mile, 10 foot wide, ADA accessible, paved pathway consisting of 6 different trail corridors that connect you to cities, parks, and many destinations throughout Washtenaw County, Michigan. Everyone is welcome!

Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission (WCPARC) has led the multi-agency effort to develop the Border to Border Trail (B2B Trail) since its inception in the late 1990s. The B2B Trail is one of WCPARC's primary initiatives because of consistent support from Washtenaw County residents. Surveys dating back to the early 2000s have consistently rated trails in the top tier of the most desired recreation amenities in the county. Further, county residents have voted for and renewed millage to support WCPARC's continued effort to develop and connect the B2B Trail throughout the County. WCPARC has been successful in augmenting local funding by securing state and federal grants and through partnership with the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative, which has provided significant donor contributions to accelerate construction of the B2B Trail.

The Border to Border Trail (B2B) is the product of an ongoing collaboration of communities and organizations who are dedicated to safe, accessible, shared-use, non-motorized recreation and transportation.

For implementation purposes, the trail has been broken down into corridors and segments. These segments are in various stages of planning, design or construction, either directly by Washtenaw County Parks or in partnership with other municipalities and organizations.

  • Meet the HSHV Pet of the week at https://www.hshv.org/petsoftheweek-2/

Hi my name is Mary Linda! I am a shy cat looking for a patient adopter who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. Once I get comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for – like a special bond with a cat who likes the calmer side of life.

Mary Linda is Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. FeLV is a serious virus that is contagious to other cats (but not contagious to people or other species of animals). It may cause a shortened lifespan but FeLV cats have so much fun and love to give. Please call or come in to find out more.

All the animals available for adoption through the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on their vaccinations and have a microchip I.D. which is included in their affordable adoption fee.

    - Opening Night Party from 5:30 – 7:00 PM
    - From Ann Arbor's own director Nancy Boyd and producer Meghan Griesbeck, who will both be in attendance for a post-film Q&A with lead actress Valentina Tammaro.
    - On the verge of breaking into her dream career in Los Angeles, Paige (Valentina Tammaro) is forced to move back in with her parents and undergo a vulvar vestibulectomy to treat years of vaginal pain. As Paige navigates her excruciatingly awkward recovery, her loving but overzealous parents learn the importance of advocating for women’s health, starting with simply saying “vagina.”

    - With director Andrew Templeton in attendance with the creative team for a post-film Q&A.
    - Amid the radical politics and cultural upheaval of the late 1960s, a series of brutal murders targeting young women gripped the twin university towns of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan. Home to the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, the communities grew increasingly anxious as police seemed unable to stop the killer—or killers—responsible.

Beneath the fun Euro-synth beats and punk aesthetics lies deep trauma—broken dreams and unhealed wounds from her community's past.

    - With director Deborah Craig in attendance for a post-film Q&A after both screenings.

MICHIGAN MADE SHORT FILMS – Sunday, May 17th at 1:00 PM
    - Made by local filmmakers right here in Michigan, this collection of Narrative, Documentary, and Experimental short films showcase our state’s filmmaking talent. Local environmental concerns, family bonds, skateboarding and more are explored in these wide ranging stories.

  • Stamp Out Hunger for Food Gatherers!

Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.

The need is great, but you can help. We invite you to join letter carriers and our partner organizations in the fight to end hunger in our communities by participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Simply leave your donation of non-perishable food in a bag near your mailbox on the second Saturday in May, and your letter carrier will do the rest.

Hi my name is Boss! I am a good boy and I am looking for an active adopter willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information.
