His autobiographical books are listed by the American Library Assn's 50 best young adult books of all time. They are so important for our empathy and our mindset. Dr. Salva recommends co-creating text with newcomer students. It is no-prep and high return on investment. Key for accelerating language acquisition is to reuse that text!
