Thank you so much to every single lady who joined us for Series Two, whether as an interviewee or someone who has written to me, asked questions, given advice or interacted with instagram @child.pony.sleep.repeat.
Summer Holidays has hit and so has Joshes peak time of year and with hurricane Wilf to balance too it seems right we should end our Series Two on Episode Twenty with the wonderful Olivia Tuffin, author of the fantastic children's books centred around ponies and currently at the sunshine stables. Olivia is also mum of two to Lara and Jasper and has a selection of adorable fluffy ponies at home in Dorset where she helps run the local pony club.
As Josh is flt out, I've created a little medley of moments from series one that stuck with me whilst I was carrying Wilf and anxious for what was coming ahead, I hope you enjoy it, and join us for Series Three in the Autumn! -
This weeks slightly late episode is with Georgia Plimbley, the amazing woman and Mum who is making huge waves in the world of horses by striving to make it more accessible to everyone to learn how to train horses at liberty, and to teach with kindness and compassion. Georgia has worked with horses on films, in TV series, she's given talks to big clubs and is really working on running her own business teaching liberty clinics up and down the country, but the most important job of all for her is raising her 4 year old son William so she's figuring out how to juggle being a single mum and being business woman too, I'd say shes smashing it!
This week Josh and I talk about how he's now back to flat out work and its the first time he hasn't been able to ride. We also have a question about how to prioritise the little jobs. -

This weeks interview is with Mother of two, Rose Bowden. Rose works part time for the emergency services, and is the owner of a tank of a cob who enjoys testing the strength of his bridles, what has lead me to find her is that Rose has written a book on the juggling act of being a horsey mum! It's like she's been made for the podcast!
Josh and I have our usual weekly round up and chat about how he is progressing in the saddle, and we answer a listeners question, this week should a gut instinct about a nervous loaner lead to further action?

This weeks interview is with Sarah Elebert, Equestrian Online Coach and Eventer, though currently in her return to riding after childbirth, she's really enjoying dressage riding but can't wait for life to settle a little and be back to the eventing game.
Sarah became a mother to her daughter Paige earlier this year and in becoming a Mum, she has been given her reason to co found "EQUITAS" a Women's Equestrian Magazine along side a strong team of equestrians who have strength and depth in the equestrian industry and want to promote empowering women as well as levelling the playing field for them with equality and support within their chosen industry.
This week Josh and I have a question regarding children's sport and how to share out the who goes where and for how long equally!
Please like rate and subscribe wherever you get your podcast and head over to Instagram @child.pony.sleep.repeat for polls, games and to see the much discussed Bob the Cob. -
This week I've got a cheeky bonus episode for you as I had trouble getting my lovely ladies on the line to get a chat recorded, but hopefully this episode is just about long enough you can muck out a couple of stables or poo pick part of a field!
-
This weeks interview is with the unbelievable Ellie Paddock, Mum to son Arthur who talks about life with traditional working horses on a farm where they are your entire survival, there is no other option for the Paddock family where husband and wife team Mike and Ellie have been driving horses for well over a decade, their team of horses work the land, they sledge the water, they teach driving workshops with everything from harrow and plough through to logging and little Arthur comes along for the ride.. or should I say drive!
Josh and I recap our week and where Josh is in his riding adventure with the giant Dezzie, then we discuss a question sent in about trying to juggle a young child on a slightly frosty livery yard.

In a twist to my usual interview with a horsey parent, this week I am chatting to the wonderful ladies who volunteer as qualified coaches and run the social media pages, alongside full time jobs for the amazing centre Abingdon RDA.
This episode will focus on just what its like keeping the show on the road and working around hoses children and parents. Alice and Indi are so enthusiastic and speak so warmly they will leave you looking up your local RDA Branch!
Josh and I round up our week and Joshes forays into learning to ride, before discussing a question of the week sent in by a horsey mum.

This weeks interview is with a Horsey Mum Level 100 twist- Half of it is recorded whilst my interviewee is sat on a baby horse hacking round the countryside!
Bonnie Fishburn is a woman who gives everything her very best shot. She is Mum to Harriet and Ted and has a rather splendid collection of horses most of which shes bred and produced herself. Bonnie worked professionally s groom in all walks of equestrian sport before having her two children and I'm so glad I managed to get a few minutes of her time.
*Apologies for some wind and other background noise*
Josh and I have a question sent in about a conundrum with a Mother In Law wanting to give a gift, but with some strings attached! -
This weeks interview is with Stephanie Hobbs, Mum of one daughter, the very gorgeous girlie Minnie, and four horses, in various shapes and sizes. Steph is a fantastic artist, and we chat about how her week manages to fit all sorts in as shes constantly on the go, with an alarm set early to just get that bit of peace for half an hour, over a cup of tea and a bit of journalling which is how I dicovered her wonderful early morning quotes on Instagram under @minniemayhem17.
This week I am late delivering the Podcast because my Husband has been flying round sorting out contractors but we get a Horsey Mum Question sent in from America and we enjoy chatting about tangents just as much as the question itself! -
This weeks interview is with Jennifer Stevens, who though she works currently in Insurance she hold qualifications in Equine Nutrition and runs her Instagram account as the owner of the very beautiful Cobweb and stately lady Puzzle, all this as well as Mum to her daughter, Charlotte.
Josh and I have come back from a sunny holiday and are back into the full swing of work and animals, and this week I was asked quite a few various questions after I had a visit from my lovely chiropractor Hazel Mellars Bsc Msc Dc, who treats both Josh, Me and all the horses and I showed in my stories a hyperlapse of Bob's session with her.
The questions were ranging from treatments I had in pregnancy myself, to the level of treatment that horses receive.
(I will try to get Hazel to chat to me in a bonus extra!) -
This week we have an episode to whisk you away into the rural beauty of the Northumberland countryside as we talk to Alice who owns and runs Whistlebare Farm.
A fibre farm with Angora goats, Wensleydale and Shetland sheep that features among others, two very special working ponies who chain harrow, cultivate, sow seed, learning to log and so much more. Alice is Mum not only to all these animals but also four nearly grown up sons!
Josh and I cover one of his favourite topics when someone who labels themselves as a short sighted townie sent me a DM and would like advice on how to enjoy wildlife with her daughter while they're out riding. -
Crikey, Hold on to your neck strap!
*Strong Stomach Warning*
This weeks fabulous lady Liz Dutton runs her own business, owns two horses who she enjoys hunting and fun rides with and has two school age sons...
Why the warning? Liz and I are going to chat about not only being successful busy Mum and business owner but talk about her business itself- Liz is the lady behind Equine Hygiene UK where she is taking care of - predominately geldings- nether regions and sometimes mares too as she cleans and checks to make sure everything is in full working order without a build up of debrie or anything more sinister. Its absolutely fascinating and Liz has a brilliant sense of humour!
Also in this epsiode Josh and I talk about being thrown to the proverbial wolves and being asked to judge at a childrens show!
DM me your questions on @child.pony.sleep.repeat or let me know your listening by sharing a story or writing a review! -
This weeks chat is with the wonderful Tracy Turner from @fieldtofamilyponies who is mum to two daughters, Kate and Charlotte. When we first spoke Tracy confessed to not being 100% certain just how many ponies there were at their home and in the surrounding fields and farm but she guessed around 9!! Tracy made me feel like I wanted to move in and muck in with them as she has a wonderful atitude towards prodcing horses.. and children too!
Josh and I have a long chat this week, there was so much to catch up on with Dez having his first week in the mad house and the question sent in this week was one that could have been quite short if it had been up to Josh, he had a one word answer! -
This weeks chat is with Mum of two, Charlotte Hordle, who is @eventing_mummy, Charlotte has two year old Rosie and 12 week old George, and she is back riding with a bang as she is due to compete at Portman Horse Trials this week! Charlotte has a fantastic Mum herself who is also horsey so totally understands the need to ride her lovely but quite spicy eventer Ollie and we talk about how Charlotte is pleasantly surprised at how different coming back to riding after George has been, she feels stronger than before!
Josh and I talk about the horses coming home and his own horse Dez has arrived.. watch this space as together me and Dez are going to try and teach Josh how to ride... Non Horsey Husband no more!

This weeks slightly late interview is with Sarah Wilson who is Mum to Rowan, she and husband Luke were never really planning for a family, but now he's arrived you couldn't have a more wonderful lifestyle adventuring in Scotland with woodsman Luke and groom, as well as part time jeweller Sarah who is also a polocrosse fanatic in what little is left of her spare time.
The Question time with Josh is chaotic today, we chatted whilst walking a reluctantly napping Wilf after a big family party yesterday so we're both pretty knackered! We talk about getting yourselves on Holiday when you have children and animals to consider! -
This weeks interview is a conversation with Sara Bryans, @mama_goes_riding, she is living in rural Scotland with her wife Lucy Anne, Sara is birth mum to their son William and is returning to riding after a twenty year break from the sport after years spent working as a groom taking its toll on Sara's mental health.
Sara now owns Johnny a gorgeous bay sports horse and in her own words, Palmer the worlds worst companion pony.
*We also gently discuss addiction in this episode as a trigger warning for those who may need it.*
This week it isn't a FAQ as such, more of a very interesting question put to us through the instagram DMs and it also leads to the very exciting news I've been sitting on for a few weeks- Josh lets the cat out of the bag!!
@child.pony.sleep.repeat for stories and posts and to send your questions! -
This weeks interview is with Rachel Wright, BHSI, the lady running the show alongside her own mum at Owlhouse Stables in Dover.
Rachel is mum to two boys, Dexter and Gus and we chat about how Rachel actually "woke up" after having children and went full throttle into not only into mum life; with a neurodiverse son recently getting a diagnosis of autism and ADHD as well as her own experience with ADHD but also getting her teaching qualifications as a Stage 5 Performance Coach, plus getting back to eventing her own horse Babz, and if that wasn't enough shes started the "Jackie Claringbould Inspiring People Through Horses Charity" or JC Inspiring in short hand.
This weeks FAQ Horsey Mum question relates to confidence and it's something I've struggled with myself in the past and why I'm always so grateful to Bob the Cob now and Josh gives his take on why he's normally quite confident in most things! -
After missing last week with family illness we're back with a honest chat with one of the most genuine ladies out there, the very lovely Eden, who fronts the instgram account @Heelsdownandkickon.
Eden is Mum to two girls, Harper who competes her pony Dan Dan in all sorts of disciplines and absolutely loves her pony club branch and nearly 6 month old Freya, who is fitting in with life like shes always been here!
This week The Horsey Question is easier to answer than last weeks, and I am surprised by The Non Horsey Husbands knowledge of the topic! Always keeping me on my toes this one! -
This weeks interview is with Rachel Mackenzie mum to daughter Jess, and owner of 24 year old Dougal, who has been her forever horse, and Gem a young Clydesdale, living way up in Scotland, though she is the opposite end of the country Rachel's easy going chat felt like we were sat having a cuppa together. Rachel says horses are "just" a hobby - though we all know its never just!- but one that runs deep and it's a family affair with everyone mucking in and helping out.
This weeks FAQ - Horsey Mum Question is quite the dilemma regarding one mum to be keeping horses at home and its one that gave The Non Horsey Husband and I a little bit to think about - Head over to Instagram, @child.pony.sleep.repeat and send a message to say what you think you would do? -
This week Rosie is talking to Linda Clark, Mum of One and the voice behind the Instagram account @patchydressagepony. Linda has two horses, the wonderful Ted who she competes in dressage as the account suggests as well as dabbling in a little bit of everything and Master Mac a 33 year old retiree.
Linda balances work, horses and son Theo alongside a super supportive husband and we both agree; luck isn't the right word, but certainly feeling thankful is.
This weeks FAQ Horsey Mum Question sent to The Non Horsey Husband and I to discuss is how do we juggle it all... if only we knew the answer! - Se mer
